Indian Outlaw

Officials at Utah's Arrowhead Elementary School told the parents of Jakobe Sanden, 7, that his Mohawk haircut would have to go. They called it a distraction. But the Sandens, who are Indians, claimed it was part of their cultural heritage. After getting a letter backing the Sandens up from their tribal leadership, the school relented. Presumably, however, Mohawks worn by students who are not Indians will still be distracting.

Sounds like those kids aren't taking their Ritalin. But more importantly, I find it troubling that the Sanden family is not more culturally sensitive to Harrah's heritage of mindless bureaucratic rituals.
would his haviung to lose the mohawk be like a scalping?
