The email scandal only gets worse.

As Hillary Clinton takes her campaign to Puerto Rico this weekend, the scandal over her use of personal email continues to progress. 

This week, it was announced that a former State Department employee who worked on Clinton's email server will invoke the Fifth Amendment in response to Congressional inquiries on the Clinton server. (You can read more in-depth coverage here.)

The uproar over her alleged use of personal email to handle classified information leaves the near-anointed Democratic frontrunner scrambling to calm donors and supporters. On Thursday, Edward Snowden appeared on Al-Jazeera and said that Clinton "intentionally endangered U.S. international security by being so careless with her email" and that if any other worker at the State Department had did what she had done "they would very likely face prosecution for it."

As more details are expected to emerge, Reason's Matt Welch asks Hillary's democratic supporters why they would want a brazen liar in the White House? Full clip below:

Anyone in business also has similar account management issues. You might engage in some comms with a client or co-worker using private account, but you'd always insist that any Documents / transaction approvals / "Business" be conducted on the official account for record-keeping purposes.

The clintons try to muddy the distinction to maintain some kind of rhetorical position that there's somehow no difference between simply maintaining a separate account for private /informal comms ...... and her refusing to use the Official Channels for *any* business dealings, explicitly to avoid having State preserve/control her records.

The requirement to archive official email wasn't implemented until 2009ish, so Powell and Rice doing so wouldn't be an issue.

Every lie that the left told was picked apart in detail, and in turn none of them could produce any evidence of the shit they just pulled out of their ass. So then, they would proceed to make up new lies, which were in turn thoroughly picked apart and debunked.

It would have been the usual ,OMG!! I flew on American Airlines once! Or, OMG! we ate at Windows on the World in 1989!. The usual "I have to say something and its going to be all about me" response. Only half the avant garde didn't call for those people to be forcibly institutionalized. I actually think Stockhausen had a valid original, meaningful take in there at first. The reaction is what made it gold. His comments didn't disturb so much because of what was off the mark so much as what was on.

Aphex Twin - irish(?) electronic music innovator who was sort of the basis for the entire Warp-record label/catalogue... all of 'avante garde electronic' of the 1990s....who drops records like once every 5 years... suddenly announced he was putting 1000+ unreleased tracks on soundcloud.

People are still sifting through it all. A lot of it is shit. But its shit of a very-good-pedigree. Basically, if you liked his 90s stuff...well this is all the stuff that never made the cut.

tho you can pump whatever they do through things like Sherman Filterbanks and then heat it up on tape when you track it (ie. push it into the tape distortion range).

the distinction between analog and digital is mostly fictitious when the process always uses lots of both to get the results.

yeah, if you're a nerd for sonic quality that exceeds the vast majority of playback systems in the first place.... there's no arguing about it. I still only own records 🙂

I've almost bought 3 different Wurlitzer Sidemans off ebay but then I look around at all the crazy shit I own, consider I don't have the skills and time to ensure it works properly, and wonder why the fuck I really want to own one so bad and then regret not jumping on the opportunity. Not like I'd pass on a pre-WWII Theremin or even a nightmare to keep working, much less play, like an ondes Martenot though.

I have some buddies with ARPs and some vintage mini moogs and theramins and the whole ball of wax....

but none of them *use them* outside of sampling the output they want, then doing all the programming and manipulation within protools or whatever.

i also have a storage room full of obsolete equipment.

If i had to keep a very few useful things, they'd be a monosynth, a filterbank, a tape machine (PLUS all my analog guitar effects pedals) and a computer.

Except, so far, no laws have been broken. It was not illegal for her to have the server. To date, the "classifed" mails have been classified in arrears. Retroactive classification is even lamer than our beyond excessive exisiting classification regime. Further, it is the responsibility of the sending party to handle documents in the proper manner given their level of classification - not the person on the other end. If someone sends her a "top secret" document to her personal email address that is their bad, though she (or her staff) does have an obligation to destroy the document and report to the appropriate agency.

So the short of it is - unless (or until) someone finds a legitimate classified document, stamped secret or above, that was sent by Hillary - this is all about running a sloppy ship and not anticipating the problems that come with using an outside email address for work. And the continued howling by elephants (and others like Welch) has now pushed this issue to the precipice of "we feel sorry for Hillary. Yes she was stupid but doesn't deserve this.". But knowing when to stop was never a strength of rabid partisans.
