In Quebec, the Granby town council has voted to ban people from insulting police officers or municipal officials online. Those found guilty of that crime face fines of $100 to $1,000. The town had already banned insulting cops and city officials. The new law is aimed at making sure Internet insults are covered as well.

Julius Grey, a constitutional lawyer, said the bylaw is an attack on freedom of speech.

"What you're going to be having is a trial of speech every time a municipal employee or a policemen considers himself insulted. I think this is absolutely terrible," Grey said.

Bangladesh continues its war on bloggers.

The attack on bloggers critical of Islam has taken on a disturbing regularity in Bangladesh with yet another writer hacked to death Tuesday.

Ananta Bijoy Das, 32, was killed Tuesday morning as he left his home on his way to work at a bank, police in the northeastern Bangladeshi city of Sylhet said.

Four masked men attacked him, hacking him to death with cleavers and machetes, said Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan.

The men then ran away. Because of the time of the morning when the attack happened, there were few witnesses. But police said they are following up on interviewing the few people who saw the incident.

"It's one after another after another," said Imran Sarker, who heads the Blogger and Online Activists Network in Bangladesh. "It's the same scenario again and again. It's very troubling."

CNN hand-wrings over the cost of higher education with this story. In short, dude got into Tufts but couldn't afford it, so he had to "settle" for the University of Michigan. Really? This article should be about his wise economic choice. Overall, Tufts is tied with Wake Forest as the 27th best school in the country, the University of Michigan is, wait for it, 29th overall. As a public flagship research university, it has one of the best business programs in the country and some of its engineering programs are in the top 3. Cry me a fucking river!
