In Soviet Russia, celebrity parody you.

The agency in charging of censoring Russia's Internet

In keeping with the meme of Oliver half-assing Brickbats.

  3. John Galt   10 years ago

Now that the U.S. government has it's foot in the door Internet taxes and censorship are sure to follow.

Had a nice little discussion with a lefty friend of mine over that last night. He admits that the FCC created the situation we have now, but we must give the FCC more power to fix it. I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly... She died, of course. We can only hope for such an ending to the FCC.

      1. UnCivilServant   10 years ago

Did you point out that killing the FCC would cost less than giving them more authority? If so, how did he react?

        1. straffinrun   10 years ago

It was talking to a brick wall. The idea of killing a govt agency is unfathomable.

    2. Suthenboy   10 years ago

Introducing government into an industry that flourished precisely because no government was involved.

      Brilliant.

  4. Libertarian   10 years ago

So.....Russia is finally catching up to England in libel law?

  5. Derpetologist   10 years ago

Russia has always had censorship, secret police, prison camps in Siberia, and a czar of some sort. All that stuff got kicked into high gear by the Soviets, but they merely built off what was already there. Similarly, China has always had an emperor, a bureaucracy, and ruthless conformity.

So we can add cultural change to the long list of the many things communism can't do. So much for the New Soviet Man.

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

I'm surprised they haven't angled for a New Obama Man.

      1. Coyote Blue   10 years ago

That picture has always made me a little sad.

I always laugh. Then get sad.

  6. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

Get your memes spoofing Obama in NOW. Dude is getting idears.

Has anyone looked at the picture of Putin and the dog in the article for which Mr. Oliver provided a link?
One of my neighbors is considered a dog whisperer by some in the neighborhood, and she interpreted the dog's expressions as follows: "Does anyone see this, what is happening here? This man smells of evil and his hand is creeping around my throat! Comrades get me out of this grip before it is too late. When I grow large I will guard your house and pull you sleds. Help!"

    1. Libertarian   10 years ago

That's funny. My first reaction to the pic was imagining the dog whispering to the photographers,"help me. I'm being held against my will. Get me out of here. Pleeeeeeeeeease!"

      1. Mongo   10 years ago

The dog was given a choice: hug Putin, or get a bomb strapped on and run under a Ukrainian tank.

You've got to be Putin us on!
