Obama Plans to Bomb ISIS Without First Obtaining Congressional Approval
President Obama is prepared to use U.S. military airstrikes in Syria as part of an expanded campaign to defeat the Islamic State and does not believe he needs formal congressional approval to take that action, according to people who have spoken with the president in recent days.
Obama discussed his plans at a dinner with a bipartisan group of foreign policy experts this week at the White House and made clear his belief that he has the authority to attack the militant Islamist group on both sides of the Iraq-Syria border to protect U.S national security, multiple people who participated in the discussion said. The move to attack in Syria would represent a remarkable escalation in strategy for Obama, who has sought during his presidency to reduce the U.S. military engagement in the Middle East.

Well that's just a crock of shit.
So, I'm confused. Obama didn't have the authority before to bomb Syria without Congressional approval when the poll numbers were bad, but now he does? ISIS was operating in Syria and Iraq back then, too.
And someone still needs to explain to me how Obama can argue arming Syrian rebels 3 years ago would have amounted to nothing because they were poor farmers, yet the administration is now saying that it's different because they have developed since then. Logic would dictate that with our support, they would have been even stronger...if one believes they actually have advanced in anyway.
I'm not advocating doing either here. It just amazes me how stupid the Obama administration thinks people are (well, maybe they're right). They are truly, frighteningly incompetent. Bush may have been wrong a lot, but at least he was fairly consistent.
