"Justin Bieber doesn't have to go to jail, after all."
Score one for Canada. High five!
Anyone?
Hello.
Hi.
Hej.
Justin who?
Donno, never heard of it.
He's the current Donny Osmond or something like that.

NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!
*looks for Tim Horton's to loot*
Goddammit. You could have replied one comment down and been on topic. YOU HAVE A SICKNESS.
You have to take him back, eh!
Technically, it's not late Thursday morning yet.
You're expecting a ceasefire before then? Let the precogs report the story as they see fit.
Funny, the people who are calling for "only the police need firearms" are suddenly appalled when they use the guns on innocent civilians.
Strong mental gymnastics here.
Whereas those of us who argue the police should be disarmed are feeling vindicated.
agreed, or at least armed more lightly. But the question is- what comes of it? The apathy in this country makes me *almost* wanna believe the Alex Jones-types in the world that think fluoride or something is fed to the masses to keep us docile.
Almost.
fluoride or something is fed to the masses to keep us docile.
It's an aging population imo. Old people don't have the energy for revolution...but they will sit around all day talking about the world going to hell in a handbasket.
truth, but the minority and immigrant communities are very young. Where is the next MLK, Malcolm X, etc?
Instead, people are playing xbox.
Ever look up the age of the Founders when the American revolution popped off? It'll depress you because they were more active and involved at a young age than most people are EVER now. We infantilize adults in their 20s when in the past, they conquered continents.
We infantilize adults in their 20s when in the past, they conquered continents.
This is so true.
The Black Prince was 16 when he led the vanguard at The Battle of Crecy. Now you can't even buy booze at that age.
What's your problem with Alex Jones?
Do you have more faith in people who don't have the stones that Jones has?
You do know that the total tax take of the Crown in the early 1770s was about 1%?
You do know that there was not some overwhelming cry for revolution in the colonies during the 1770s, right?
You do know that many, not all, of the founders were themselves, out and out statists who wanted their own version of mercantilism, right?
You do know that many of the founders were all too happy to support the murder of whiskey tax resisters?
You do know that many of the founders were all too happy to jerk off to the Alien and Sedition acts?
Color me unimpressed by the founders mythology.
We do know that Libertymike is full of BS.
"We"? Those who employ "we" to make a point are typically totalitarian.
Those who make assertions by saying "You do know that..." are full of shit.
How could you have forgotten to mention that the founders owned slaves? That's a major part of the litany.
That said, the Constitution they established was nice while it lasted.
Nice?
Aborted all.
"Where is the next MLK, Malcolm X, etc?"
He's on the golf course.
Everybody knows tempers flare up and violence is more common when people are hot and miserable. Ferguson is yet more proof of global warming and its' catastrophic effects.
I think it's because taxes are not high enough.
See! This guy gets it.
It's only a matter of time before they blame too little government. I'm surprised I haven't already seen it in my Facebook feed.
"it's because the failing schools and the underpaid teacher's unions and..."
something something raise minimum wage something something
Eh, I think the local level political class is taking notes in what to do. Uppity citizenry is never acceptable.
I haven't checked to see what the situation is in Ferguson this morning, but I'm guessing at some point the National Guard will be called in and hopefully their first order of business is going to be to disperse the cops, not the rioters and protesters.
That got a sad laugh.out.of.me.
Justin Bieber doesn't have to go to jail, after all.
Instead he's going to be on Orange is the New Black.
We have a winner
Is that punishment enough?
He's damned lucky they didn't put him on Lena Dunham's exhibitionism show.
-jcr
If Bieber was in the cast Lena Dunham would still be the ugliest girl on the show.
That is just plain cruel.
President Obama and Hillary Clinton hugged it out?maybe?after Clinton slighted the president during a recent interview.
She might have to go up against Christie for president and didn't want there to be an Obama hug deficit.
"President Obama and Hillary Clinton hugged it out..."
Thank god I didn't *gag* see that. *gag gag*
Oregon police deal with report of chicken crossing the road
At which point the dispatcher sent in a SWAT team to arrest the guy for using his cell phone while driving.
And shot the chicken.
It was a pit chicken acting aggressively.
mmmmmmmm, pit chicken.
Shouldn't that be a pit cock?
And when the local chicken community got outraged and began protesting the police actions, liberals made the incident about the endemic institutional bias against chickens while the conservatives made the incident about the massive social dysfunction of chicken culture.
Why did the chicken make a furtive movement toward the other side of the road?
STOP RESISTING! the urge to laugh.
Free range chicken! Who are you to unjustly imprison our feathered brethren...er sistern.
In Italy, the police would still be called, but only to arbitrate a dispute on which sauce should be used with the chicken.
"Hi, um, this is actually not a prank call, but there is a chicken trying to cross the road in Linnton," the caller said.
Wow. The dispatcher didn't immediately ask why? Or make a remark about getting to the other side? Way to drop the ball.
Chicago Teachers Union Boss Karen Lewis has criticized Mayor Rahm Emanuel for being part of the one percent.
They don't change out their playbook very often, do they?
As long as their idiot base keeps buying it, why change?
Being rich is evil, but there's a special absolution for celebrities, Team-Blue politicians, and union bosses.
Keep in mind that Rahm is both a Jew and an honorary Black man, so criticizing him is both racist and anti-Semitic. When you start suggesting that the source and amount of Rahm's wealth seems rather queer, well now you're just asking for it.
There's a long tradition of this, going back to all the portrayals of candidates as coming from humble (log cabin) beginnings. I don't think it's unreasonable to question whether a very rich person is in touch with the challenges average people face, it's when it veers into straight up envy that it's bad, and when it's applied with a double standard.
Karen Lewis makes over $200,000 and owns three homes.
And that might make one question whether she can understand the challenges someone making 20,000 and renting an apartment face. Of course to the extent her opponent is wealthier the same might apply to him but more so
And the tradition is stupid. It puts characterization before principles.
I'm not sure. I talked to a wealthy classmate who favored gun control and it was obvious that his lifestyle (living in a gated community with a security guard at the gate) made him dismissive of the potential need for other people to have a firearm to protect themselves
And it is his principles that you disagreed with. Principles can be altered, backgrounds cannot.
Amen. I really wish that, at least once, some candidate would say something to the effect of "Yes, I'm very rich. So is my opponent. You see, that's something that tends to happen when you're successful in our society, whether as a businessman, a doctor, a lawyer, a labor leader, or whatever. If you find a candidate who isn't rich, there's going to be a pretty good chance they never accomplished much or spent their life sucking at the government teet."
And where's it written in stone that those in office have to be "in touch" with everyone? As far as I can tell none of these people are running for relater-in-chief. It's a farce anyway. Everyone knows that if you're running for high office, the odds are you're much wealthier than the average person. This nonsense of playing poverty should be seen as an insult to our intelligence.
Tens of millions of Americans, those who make at least $47,500 a year, are in the top 1% worldwide. Even those who make "poverty" wages of $25k / year are in the top 10% worldwide. So we're pretty much all winners if you look at it objectively.
I don't give a fuck about worldwide, I care about where I am now.
At my salary, you could live like a King in most parts of the world. Here, it doesn't go that far.
Where is "here"? If you live in a major liberal urban area you pretty much have it coming; there are many areas of the country that have a high standard of living yet are quite affordable.
The difference between any part of the United States and say, India, in terms of cost of living are quite stark, even the cheapest corner of our country.
Gay illegal immigrants demand special treatment from Obama
gay rights activists fear if Mr. Obama keeps those restrictions in place, it would end up excluding many members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community who, because of their lifestyles, end up with higher rates of criminal records
?
Apparently random attacks on passers-by have become a part of their scene.
/end sarcasm.
Is he talking about criminal records from their origin countries where it might be criminalized? Otherwise it's a passing strange comment indeed
Maybe he thinks that minorities only end up prison-gay instead of SWPL gay.
Do you know how homophobic a lot of cops are? Even in the US it's not uncommon for cops to harrass openly gay people with bogus arrests, much less third world hellhole cops.
FTFA: [T]ransgender immigrants in particular often end up "forced to do sex work," which leaves them afoul of the law.
Yeah, so the sort of victimless "crimes" that libertarians generally don't think should be crimes. Also, the tendency of police in certain areas to target gay people for enforcement is well-known.
Plus, although not mentioned in the article, what Bo said about criminal records in their home countries for consensual sexual activity.
However the overall tone of the article was frothingly anti-immigrant, and the audience that's likely to appeal to also tends to be anti-gay so no big surprises from Washington Times coverage.
How is forced to do sex work a victimless crime? Do you understand the word forced?
The word "forced" seems to be used pretty liberally these days in place of "decided to".
What about the white hispanics who will speak for them?
What the fuck? Identity politics is all they know anymore.
Identity politics is all they know anymore.
Except for having to prove your identity at the voting booth
It could total more than 250 million, too, but probably not.
"Is this a war zone?" he asked on Twitter.
Yes.
The heavily-armed personnel in military combat gear and APCs should provide a clue.
I wish this weren't so much like the Cornell West incident with the police on his front porch a while back. That is, I think a lot of us here think of this as primarily a police vs citizen issue, rather than a white vs. black issue.
If the media would quit flogging the narrative and hawking their identity politic wares, and just report the fucking straight up story, people might see the forest through the trees...
Can't you see that if the right color people were manning those weapons, this whole situation would be no situation at all?

13.5 inches isn't large.
Hey, that's only the circumference.
You're damn right.
13.5 inches isn't large.
I don't know, 13 1/2 inches would put the tip somewhere in the vicinity of your pancreas. From either direction.
So he was just walking around with a boner the whole time?
No, but he claims he's about 9 inches flaccid.
Nine inches flaccid in a speedo will look like you stuffed a kielbasa in there.

Have you ever wished for a smaller penis?
No. I'm happy with the way I am.
That's all we need to know right there. No one ever wishes for a smaller one.

George R.R. Martin: I'm not going to write gay sex scenes just for the sake of doing it

Now that you say that, I think the Ramsay/Reek scenes probably count as some super kinky gay sex (rape) scene.
Just kill them already. Neither of those two are interesting.

Been hearing about a correction around October-November. Should be interesting.
It also looks like the credit bubble just collapsed in China, and the economies of France, Germany, and Italy shrunk. Central bank clowns around the world shout "Mission Accomplished!"
He we are in the summer of recovery - until the Fall restatement of GDP.
Except Italy, progs hold up all of those countries as models for America to emulate.
They've been doing it for 20 years now, haven't they?
I think it's 30 at this point. They're going for the hat trick of lost decades.
They jacked the sales tax about the same time they started the latest round of Exploitative Easing. That couldn't have helped any.
6.8%? Holy shit that is epic.
Not only did consumption tax on everything go up by 3% but a large number - much more than half by what I've seen - of retailers raised prices by 5% across the board. You can't raise the cost of living by 8% in one fell swoop and not leave a dent in the economy.

Libertarian Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan condemned the police response to the chaos. "Is this a war zone?" he asked on Twitter.
Way to jump on the social justice bandwagon, Justin.
Didn't the WaPoo have an article about all the 'libertarian' silence on this subject?
Thing is, someday (maybe not this circumstance, but another), these police assaults on cities will be met with equally violent force. The people don't stop to think- you outnumber the police, usually 10 to 1.
It's funny how we champion rebel groups and resistance groups overseas but don't stop to think that perhaps we need that here from time to time. "But it can't happen here" is a sick side effect of American exceptionalism. You know how the world is always fucked up and burning? Guess what- we are he world. We are not immune to such strife.
I am pretty surprised that you never hear about any crowds opening fire on police during these riots. Frankly, I'd cheer them on if they did. Nothing else is going to effect change.
It's coming.
Sadly yes. Sooner rather than later. It is going to be 1968 all over again. Watch white liberals try to explain it happening with the light worker as President.
A racist country like America would never change the Constitution to allow a black man a third term.
Fuck if they change the law to allow third terms, both Hillary and Barack will be trampled by Bill Clinton as he rushes to hold his press conference announcing his candidacy.
that's what I'm saying. They outnumber the police, could match firepower, and know the neighborhoods. If shit continued and people stopped tolerating it, a quasi-insurgency could send a strong message to the cops.
Or they'd send the National Guard, and the PR would be horrible for the regime. Either way, there will be no end to this behavior without some counteraction.
One the one hand I agree with you, but on the other hand I'd hate to see the response. Would soldiers follow orders to carpet bomb an American city?
Would soldiers follow orders to carpet bomb an American city?
No - that is easily determined as an unlawful order.
I dunno, LTC. It of course would be an unlawful order - but if the order is couched in certain/correct terms (threat to security - whatever) I'm am just not so sure. Isn't there always a colonel that wants a promotion? Not you, of course...
I'm on board with SSsaf. I would be an unlawful use of Federal Forces, and would be only marginaly supportable to use NG forces to secure an area.
No carpet bombing. But a few looters might get shot, with a significant back-lash to follow.
There are a lot of paleocons / old-school libertarians in the military who would be glad to ignore that order.
I'm more worried about cops who are also in the National Guard. They'd be more than happy to go PBR Streetgang on "resisters."
Whazzat supposed to mean?
"Call in the airstrike with a poisoned kiss"
Soldiers don't carpet bomb, pilots do, and pilots probably would. I don't know if soldiers would open fire on citizens - I used to think not but now I am not so sure.
At a wedding a couple months ago I had the displeasure of hanging around the bonfire with a few soldiers who had recently returned from Afghanistan. They were some extremely aggressive little pricks who seemed like they were at the wedding to find someone to fight. I left before they chose me as their target. I have no doubt that they would cheerfully mow down citizens.
You should go hang around a fire with some young police officers, just to get some perspective.
You ever hear the expression "Young, dumb, and full of cum"? Young soldiers to a tee.
Why do you hate our Hero Warriors??
Cool story, bro.

They were probably active not Guard? Guard is me and the guy from the welding shop, the gal from the print place, the mechanic from the auto dealer...
No.
When I want your opinion I'll take my morning deuce.
Fascinating.
That's what drones are for.
No - Soldiers and Marines would not follow those orders - and the National Guard certainly isn't going to assault their own neighborhoods.
That's why we have Homeland Security and dozens of heavily armed Federal Agencies. They have no regard for the Constitution. Their motto - "Just Following Orders."
I hate to admit it and I certainly don't want to see it, but this is true and probably becoming more likely.
This situation is easily defused. Arrest the cop that killed Brown. Give him the same treatment that all other citizens receive. But the cops are so stupid, and so brainwashed into believing that a) it's them against us and it's a 'real war' out there, and b) that they actually deserve unequal treatment because ermagerd teh ar heroze that it probably will require an armed response by citizens to put them back in their place.
Not looking forward to it as it will likely mean even more of a police state than we have already.
agreed, very simple solution but police unions and the State in general cannot stand to suffer embarrassment.
Exactly right, entropy. If they admit to error, then they admit that they are fallible and should be challenged at all times in all manner of decisions. It would undermine their power, and that is what they care most about.
Power means never admitting fault. Ever.
Hmm, couldn't the voters of Ferguson abolish their own police force? It would put them under the jurisdiction of the County Police, who are involved now.
Sure but...do you really think the cops are going to let their jobs be voted away by a bunch of citizens peasants?
Do you really think the politicians that are indebted to the police and its unions are even going to let that idea be floated?
This situation is easily defused. Arrest the cop that killed Brown.
Yep. That's all it would take. But it will not happen because their authority has been questioned. People are failing to obey. And for that they will die.
Oh god I just had a horrible flashback.

Never forget: the mayor takes his orders from the NYPD; it's not the other way around.
The Indiana Supreme Court said the same thing - in the interest of decreasing violence, you do not have a right to resist a police officer, even one committing a criminal act. If a cop commits a criminal act against you, your proper recourse is through the civil courts.
The Indiana lege immediately passed a law that struck down that decision. The press reacted with stories reporting on the law as "It's now perfectly legal to kill all the cops you want to in Indiana". More thoughtful people had questioned why, if it's in the public interest to decrease violence by banning the resisting of criminal acts by police officers, it wasn't also in the public interest to decrease violence by banning the resisting of criminal acts by all the other non-cop criminals.

Ron Paul On Ebola: 'Governments Deceive Us'
Jesus Ron, shut up and don't ruin it for Rand.
What's wrong with advocating for a return of DDT?
The DDT argument in of itself is a valid one, however mosquitoes are not a vector for Ebola and it makes Ron look uninformed and paranoid.
If you look at the link, he's not even saying "using DDT to kill mosquiots will reduce Ebola". He's actually saying "This guy has ebola! Inject him with 20CCs of DDT stat!"
For use as an insectiside? Probably nothing. But he's advocating injecting DDT into people as an Ebola treatment. That's just bonkers.
I reread the excerpt and you're right, it's even nuttier than my first take.
Can you cite to that please? I don't see that anywhere.
Not "prevention", "treatment".
Again "instead" of organic phosphates. He's not talking about prevention, he's talking about alternate treatments for someone who already has ebola.
That's...a real stretch, Stormy. I need a much more direct statement that he's saying, "inject people with DDT" than your strained interpretation.
He used "for" instead of "to"
I'm not even certain what he's talking about here. Tamiflu is an organic phosphate but I highly doubt we use it to treat Ebola.
From google, the current best treatment for ebola is using organic phosphates to inhibit the action of an enzyme called tyrosine kinase:

The tear gassing will continue until morale obedience improves.
Fixed.
Not looking forward to it as it will likely mean even more of a police state than we have already.
The only reason I'm not rooting for the cop who shot that kid to be found hanging by his heels from a lamppost is that the cops would have exactly the wrong takeaway. Rather than taking a long, hard look at cop culture and their deranged mixture of paranoia and willful trampling of the rights and human dignity of the people they actually work for, they would become even more trigger happy and prone to hair trigger violent attacks on the civilian population.
The baboon army of occupation would put their "pacification" efforts into overdrive.
What's been amazing is that the far-right racist nut-jobs are cheering this shit because "hey, it's just blacks and they should respect cops". Try to point out that these are the people who'll be marching when a prog governor (or president) decides to turn gun control up a notch and it's just static.

You think that's NOT going to be the takeaway regardless?
Officer safety is the highest priority, always.

Good.
Bring back beef tallow if you want to produce superior fries.
Or lard. Love the lard.
I've been cooking with lard lately - it's harder to find these days but you can still buy a tub in the Mexican food section. It's great to fry up steaks with - or even make (sugar free) brownies.
I can never find real lard that isn't processed and hydrogenated. Even so, it really is superior for frying just about anything.
As Lord H suggests, you're not going to find good lard in a "good" grocery store. Go to the FEED OUTLET type of grocery store where all the poor minorities shop and get you some leaf lard. It's right next to the beef tongue and pigs feet and chicken necks.
Why I hate people, reason #4895749:
"The Ambassador is leaving and would like to keep an archive of his blog after he goes to the private sector"
"Sure, no problem". **Sends an enormous XML file of the exported content of the blog.**
....a month later....
"Hey, the Ambassador has a couple new blog posts. Can you re-export the blog and send us the updated XML file?"
KK: "I thought you said that clown was leaving!"
Flunky: "..."
I passive-aggressively asked if he would like regular exports of the site, and on what schedule he would like to receive the export files.
KK, you could have told him that as a private citizen, he should do a FOIA request for it.
Yea, yea, I know.
"Due to changes in the data retention policy, we no longer have that information. It was held on an IRS issue hard-drive, which is immune to backup and prone to failure."
I wonder how much money the Ferguson baboons are blowing through because of this shit. They must be paying a shit ton of overtime. And tear gas and flashbangs aren't free, either.
What the hell do they care? It all get's confiscated from private sector working people - otherwise known as peasants.
"get's"?
You people do this to piss me off, don't you? 😉
Ye's
Ugh, s'orry but I was typing too fast...
Dont you hat it when people are start typing to fast todo propper editig on they're p osts? (and than they hit send instead of fiXING the problem
Tell.me.abou5 it.
I'm sure the cops are loving every minute of it. I mean, at a dollar a minute, what's not to love?
I dunno. If this keeps up, they might actually face some actual danger.
Shockingly it doesn't endear you to people when you've effectively become glorified paramilitary tax collection agency and kill dogs and people with indifference. It's about time.
More money for their suppliers, and it all comes from the federal government anyway. What's not to love?
Chinese company awards best employee a night with a Japanese pornstar
And?
You'll just have to use your imagination from there.
That was actually short for "And why should we care?"
Japanese pr0n is relevant to my interests.
minus the pixelated naughty bits
And the rape/tentacle/bukkake fetishes.
Ah, so you're a shibari man...
The Governor gets to put it on his expense account and not be prosecuted for it. The rest of us, not so much.
I thought the Chinese were racist against Japanese, so giving the guy a night with a Japanese and not Chinese porn star would be the booby prize.
They love Japanese products and hate the Japanese. Besides, China doesn't have a public porn industry.
Indeed.
Some think having your way with the enemy is a turn on.
Am I the only one who read that as "pornster"?
is that anything like jeepster?
My current employer was bought by a Chinese manufacturing conglomerate recently, several of my co-workers quit in protest right away, I gave it some serious consideration. If this is a common perk among the chi-coms I may have made the right decision as there is no doubt who the 'best employee' is.
Yeah, but unfortunately for you under pressure from women's groups the next "bonus" night will be with a male pr0n star.
It's the middle of August, which is typically the hottest time of year in North America. So how's that "global warming" working out for you?
51 degrees in northern Minnesota, 59 degrees in San Francisco, mid 60s throughout most of the great plains, 58 degrees in Buffalo, NY... if this is "global warming", the Ice Age sure is going to suck.
We are actually due for another ice age, likely to commence within the next 1,500 years (long by human lifespan standards, but an instant in geological time). So wouldn't it make sense to encourage AGW to try to head off the disaster for civilization that the ice age will bring?
58 degrees here in southern Ontario, complete with lake effect rain showers, fuck yah.
We'll have several acres of swampland for you if you want to come down to North Florida early, bring a gun, and help hold off the unprepared Lucifer's Hammer style.
This is a trap!
Brett is trying to feed you to his python over-lords.
It's an El Ni?o year so all the temps are screwy.

It's depressing seeing a bunch of low foreheads follow orders to be stupid.
I don't get how Twitter works, so maybe you can explain. Does the "retweeted by Radley Balko" mean that Balko approves of that idiocy?
Probably means "look at this crazy shit"
That's what it means. Balko spent a few hours yesterday telling off his WaPo colleague that started that, then started retweeting the idiots who were repeating that nonsense.
Balko got pretty testy with the media types who were spouting that retarded meme, so he start retweeting all he could find to expose their idiocy and show that it looks suspiciously like a bunch of people got their marching orders.
Journolist lives.
One of my uber-liberal friends posted about the ACLU's report on police militarization. I said that Balko reported on that 8 years ago, but since he's a libertarian it doesn't count.
Because libertarians have been silent on all of this.
Kudos.
People need to be reminded, constantly, that libertarians are ahead of the game. To this day I remember reading a libertarian article (perhaps in Reason dead tree magazine, or perhaps somewhere else) back in the early 80s that stated that the USSR was a 3rd world country with nukes, and would fall apart.
Yup. I keep telling all of my suddenly fervent liberal friends on first pot legalization, now police militarization that I've been where they finally got to. Principles prinicpals.
*back in the early 80s that stated that the USSR was a 3rd world country with nukes, and would fall apart.*
It only took the USA 30 years to catch up to them! Hurray!
So Anonymous has apparently outed the officer who murdered Michael Brown.
They say they're going to release his home address if the county doesn't respond. Fucking awesome.
They already did. Or at least it's out there if you want to see it. Not sure posting it here would be within the rules.
So where is the name?
WILLMAN, BRYAN P, according to the tweet.
TheAnonMessage ?@TheAnonMessage 1h
BREAKING NEWS: The name of the officer who shot #MikeBrown -
NAME: OFFICER WILLMAN, BRYAN P. ,
What's their source? How do we know that's the right guy?
I was watching the Reddit feed last night. Looks like someone hacked the police email. Could be unrelated, and I wouldn't call that "proof" but it does seem possible.
I hope this is just me but I've googled it and alot of the links that come up are dead.
Man, they better not have fucked up and gotten the wrong guy.
That's the risk the cops take when they don't release the right name.
Kill 'im dead.
Oh yeah, Maureen Dowd throws Clinton under the bus for throwing Obama under the bus:

Wake me up when the FBI perp-walks the motherfucker.
I want to see that scumbag torn from the loving bosom of his family by a dozen heavily armed federal agents at 5:30 AM, complete with shrieking wife and sobbing children.
I'd settle for him being drawn and quartered by an angry mob.
After a fair trial, of course.
If you say so.
I want to see that scumbag torn from the loving bosom of his family by a dozen heavily armed federal agents at 5:30 AM, complete with shrieking wife and sobbing children.
That's horrible sentiment. His dog didn't do anything wrong.
I'm glad to see that you specified federal agents so that they might be more careful about shrieking wives and sobbing children. The local PD I think knows that children stop sobbing when you toss a flashbang on their chest. The kids have done nothing to deserve that.
Author Ronald Kessler: Hillary Clinton is such a total nightmare to deal with on a personal level that being assigned to her Secret Service detail is used as a form of punishment for agents.
Of course, this isn't new news at all: we first learned this kind of stuff over fifteen years ago or when Gary Aldrich wrote his book "Unlimited Access".
Remember the Agent who stepped in front of Reagan and made himself a bullet sponge? I just can't imagine anyone doing that for Hillary.
I don't get how Twitter works
You're not the only one. Is twitter its own language, or something? Most of the time, I cannot make heads or tails of the twits linked to here.
Via Radley Balko and PB Weigel, here's the tweet of the year.
Look at all the retarded replies that don't understand sarcasm.
Benefit of a doubt: Poe's Law makes sarcasm harder to detect on Twitter. Sarcasm depends on context and the nature of Twitter is that tweets appear in other streams detached from any context.
You people do this to piss me off, don't you?
Long ago and far away, I was dragging my girlfriend all over the Greater Albuquerque Metropolitan Area on a fruitless search for something or other. We arrive at a four way stop sign, where a car sits motionless, despite there being no oncoming cars in sight.
ME: "Why doesn't he GO?"
SHE: "He's just trying to piss you off."
ME: "Well, it's working."
"If God put you here to test my patience, I'm failing!"
Big debate in my office this morning about the WaPo reporter arrested last night in Ferguson. (He was an intern in my shop a couple of years ago.)
One side thinks he was out of line, should have been more cooperative with cops, maybe he's trying to make this thing all about him.
I didn't know the kid, but I gotta admire any young reporter who's willing and able to tell the cops "Fuck you" when they're outta line.
"You want me to leave this public establishment? What, you evacuating everyone? No? Just the reporters? Well, fuck you!"
I almost got into a fist fight once with a homicide detective who spotted me in a crowd near a scene and ordered me -- and me alone -- to leave. Fortunately a more level-headed radio reporter was able to step in and defuse the situation. Which reminds me, I still own that guy a beer.
"One side thinks he was out of line, should have been more cooperative with cops,"
Cooperate in what?
If it was a move by the cops to get those who can spread information out, he certainly shouldn't 'cooperate'
Rand Paul has weighed in as well.
Another Thursday, another heapin' helpin' of anti-gov't prose from Mr. Cortopassi:

What's their source? How do we know that's the right guy?
Maybe the District Attorney should issue a statement naming the officer. That would clear up any uncertainty. If they're really concerned for his safety, they can put him in protective custody at the county jail.
Concern trolling masquerading as news: US one of the few countries that does not mandate paid time off.
