Big debate in my office this morning about the WaPo reporter arrested last night in Ferguson. (He was an intern in my shop a couple of years ago.)
One side thinks he was out of line, should have been more cooperative with cops, maybe he's trying to make this thing all about him.
I didn't know the kid, but I gotta admire any young reporter who's willing and able to tell the cops "Fuck you" when they're outta line.
"You want me to leave this public establishment? What, you evacuating everyone? No? Just the reporters? Well, fuck you!"
I almost got into a fist fight once with a homicide detective who spotted me in a crowd near a scene and ordered me -- and me alone -- to leave. Fortunately a more level-headed radio reporter was able to step in and defuse the situation. Which reminds me, I still own that guy a beer.
