St. Louis Prosecutors Accused of Waiting Until Last Minute to Process Dismissal of Charges
Trying to get a plea bargain agreement instead?
Prosecutors on Wednesday dismissed an assault charge that was filed against a Webster Groves dance instructor for touching a young woman's arm in a way that made her uncomfortable.
Torris Caston, 67, is heading to prison anyway for 10 years on separate allegations of statutory rape, of which he was convicted in April, involving a different girl.
But Caston's attorney, Rick Sindel, is complaining because he doesn't believe the assault charge should have been issued in the first place. And he said it shouldn't have taken prosecutors until the morning of trial to realize that and dismiss the case.
