Brickbat: It Takes a Thief

Former Independence, Kansas, police chief Kenneth Parker entered Alford pleas to perjury, official misconduct, misuse of public funds and theft of property valued at more than $25,000. An Alford plea acknowledges there is enough evidence for the defendant to be convicted of the crime. Parker stole ammunition, bottled water, camping equipment, cots, firearms, food, generators, cash and other property from the city while serving as chief.

Finally they're doing something about these scary prepper people.
The people on that TV show are a strange bunch, aren't they? I wonder how much of that is really them, how much they do for the show, and how much comes from the TV people themselves?
We're somewhat prep-types ourselves and I don't think much of anybody is scared of us. Then again, my prep stuff all comes out of my fun/hobby budget.
"....how much they do for the show, and how much comes from the TV people themselves?"
It is a reality show. That means the whole thing is scripted, so to answer your question: all of it.
Baboons with guns.

SWAT team ends 7 hour standoff after they realize no one is home.
That's 7 hours in which most of the city was safe from the SWAT team.
^^THIS!
That's 7 hours OT and hazard pay, without risk.
7 hour standoff and no home. Guess they met their equal.
Baboons spending other people's money.
Hayward police are not releasing the name of the man who they believed was in the home, but said they are still looking for him.
Right.
"Hostage party, er, *situation* at Larry's house!"
The city bought camping equipment?
Asset forfeiture from hobos?
Hey, you never know how long the cops might have to bivouac outside a school with an active shooter inside until it's safe for them to enter.
...or spend 7 hours camped out in front of an empty home, waiting.
Gotta have somewhere to nap.
I think you should run an article like this daily, just from different cities/police forces.
Cause I'm pretty certain this is happening a whole lotta places, ebbyday.
Nothing to see here, citizen - move along.
Yeah, we had a SWAT panic here in Tucson yesterday.
Teenager was threatening suicide while standing in a ditch. Many hours of OT and hazard pay were "earned".
