Tonight: Jesse Walker Discusses Conspiracy Theories in Houston
A lecture at Lone Star College.
Tonight I'll be speaking in Houston about political paranoia, drawing on my recent book on the subject. The event will be held on the Kingwood campus of Lone Star College, at the John Pickelman Student Conference Center. The talk begins at 7; admission is free.

Ya know, Portland is a lovely city for talking about books, Jesse. I'm even sure that some cocktail partyz could be arranged if that is what it would take to bring any of you out here. It's not like you'd be doing the dangerous work of talking to the locals about actual liberty, so it should be safe.
You know, Cass ("Backpfeifengesicht") Sunstein has a new book out on conspiracy theories. Mebbe you should debate him. Or something.
But why will he REALLY be in Houston?
You know who else wrote a book?
Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra?
Way to go old school.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez?
Mark Twain?
Ladbrokes?
Your mom?
Since Tony is not here, I guess he agrees with everything that was said here.
Put the troll bait away. Please.
Since Tony Hitler is not here, I guess he agrees with everything that was said here.
The idiot said yesterday that the reason he does not comment on many of these threads that criticize the almighty government is because he agrees with them because he is - get this - more libertarian than most of us think.
Which is especially ludicrous considering his often-made assertion that government is the origin and protector of civilization (!!!!)
Tony is a liar. So when he gives a reason for why he chooses some threads and not others, remember that he's a liar. He may be telling the truth, but probably not.
A BOOK?! JESSE WROTE A BOOK!??! WHY WAS I NOT MADE AWARE BEFORE THIS THAT JESSE WROTE A BOOK? WHY?! It's some kind of GODDAMNED CONSPIRACY, that's why!
*looks back and forth, squinting*
You know who else wrote a comment about who else wrote a book?
Occupied Kingwood isn't Houston - we just annexed it, Putin-like.
Jesse is just too afraid to stray too far from Bush Intercontinental. Embrase the sprawl, Jesse. The Pho here is excellent, as are the mystery meat tacos and enchiladas.
Ain't nobody got time to go out to Kingwood.
I worked for them one summer, entering paper GED records into a database. "Digitizing" their records in the parlance of the time.
Putin: we only do surveillance upon court-issued warrant
Obama: we only do surveillance upon court-issued warrant
It's all technically true, but when you can call a secret, unaccountable rubber-stamp organization a "court," the truthfulness of those answers means nothing.
Wow. Totally wrong thread.
If it wasn't Maundy Thursday I'd come down for it. Will you be elsewhere in Texas?
Alas, no. Not giving talks, anyway.
He could just stay in Portland to experience both.
