Nick Gillespie on a Very Special Tax Day Episode of Stossel

Reason.com's editor-in-chief Nick Gillespie will be appearing on a special Tax Day episode of Stossel, hosted by John Stossel, tonight at 9:00p.m. ET on the Fox Business Network.
Gillespie'll be talking about sin taxes to come as well as those of days gone by. How weird do they get? Check out a short snippet below:

And I'm supposed to dust off Team Stossel Live Blog for this?
Have I mentioned I like Gillespie?
Not Stossel?
Can't a person like both?
Huh. Never considered that.
Stossel's mustache and Gillespie's jacket should join forces and start their own show, and then have GILMORE on once and a while to offer no-nonsense fashion advice.
Stossel and the Jacket should be combined in a teleporter to create the ultimate libertarian organism.
A physical representation of the NAP!!1!11!
Shit, once in* a while. Rookie mistake.
"Actor CHRIS O'DOWD is convinced following a religion will eventually become as offensive and unacceptable as racism....
""There's going to be a turning point where it's going to be like racism. You know, 'You're not allowed to say that weird s**t! It's mad! And you're making everybody crazy!'. And you know, now America can't have a president that doesn't say he believes in God. So we're f**ked! Like, they f**ked everything! You wanna go and live in your weird cult and talk about a man who lives in a cloud, you do that, but don't. I mean, you really think that Barack Obama believes in God? No way!""

Epicurus, Robert Ingersoll, H.L. Mencken, and Christopher Hitchens have all died. Thank, uh, science that there's still Chris O'Dowd!
Yes, and then he will smash the skulls of his enemies and eat their entrails on his tummy!
Hail Science! Hail Science! Hail Science!
mmm...entrails.
Alternate joke: Much better than Chemtrails.
Dammit, Chris. Stop ruining yourself for me.
"Sh*t Crazy F*cked! It's Mad! Lives in a cloud! No Way!"
That's what I read up there. For a second, I thought they had invented a frat boy robot that spouts douchey pseudo-philosophical catchphrases. I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't find that attractive.
He's right, we should force all people to believe in nothing but hard science like global warming, the food pyramid, and whatever other bullshit someone can make up to get a big government check. Also, we could learn a great deal about forming coherent sentences from this latter day Aristotle. Finally, who the fuck is Chris O'dowd, and why should I give a shit?

MSNBC host: When you think about it, isn't the real victim of the IRS scandal the IRS?
"Show some sympathy, they'll have to spend all night scrubbing that blood off their jackboots!"
Yeah, blame those teabaggers, their views made it simply unpossible for the IRS to not target them. Their hands were tied.
See below - it turns out that Issa and Boehner sicked the IRS on the teabaggers.
*Facepalm*. Learn to read. They directed the IG's investigation, not the IRS.
FUD, bud.
Shit, I can read, but the way that article was worded and contructed, it really sounded like what buttplug was crowing about. In any case, abolish the IRS.
So, easy solution:abolish the IRS. That way neither team red nor blue can sick it on anyone.

"I commend her and her husband for having a lot of mixed children, taking them in and taking care of them but I can guarantee you one thing- you can count the number of white families in Alabama that are going to do that,"
"Families are created in all different ways, in all different colors and all different abilities. We love our children. I don't look at them and see my African American child or my child with Downs Syndrome. We love them all the same,"..."Joy Portis told WSFA. "Life is precious. We are all created in the image of Christ and whether your skin color or your ability or disability, their life is valued and precious and we need to be here to open our homes when they're not wanted."
Just wait for this to drop into the memory hole, and they'll be back to saying that the ignorant teathuglican rednecks are such racist hypocrites who don't care for children after they're born, etc.
God what a piece of shit.
I would have asked him to put a finite number to "a whole bunch" and then found evidence for double that.
But I guess a POS like that would then back off from the "one drop rule" and say the kids I found evidence for were not black enough.
The Treasury inspector general (IG) whose report helped drive the IRS targeting controversy says it limited its examination to conservative groups because of a request from House Republicans.
A spokesman for Russell George, Treasury's inspector general for tax administration, said they were asked by House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) "to narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations."
The inspector general's audit found that groups seeking tax-exempt status with "Tea Party" and "patriots" in their name did receive extra attention from the IRS, with some facing years of delay and inappropriate questions from the agency

Ratfucker in the woodpile!
Another fake rebuttal:
The Tea Party was a target no question. But at whose behest? Is Issa protecting Rove and the GOP bigshits by fiddling with the IRS? Is Russell George lying?
I have a hard time trusting a minor government official who has a spokesman.
It's in the headline, for fucks sake:

A very special tax day episode can only mean one thing: someone's going to lose their tax flower.
Damn. Can't unread that.
Stossel flew to DC just to film that 2 second location shot.
Why does Stossel get his own announcer to introduce him, and the Independents can't get one?
I'm more concerned that announcer sounds like a grown-up version of Casey Miller:

I just experience something similar. I posed questions about a few events relative to the ACA. I didn't do so terribly pointedly, for fear of not getting the truth. I managed to get them to admit to being single payer advocates. Also, they seemed quite content with the fiat actions of the Pres. with regard to the ACA. Thinking I may start an interesting and entertaining debate, I closed by telling them what I really thought. They only responded that I was wrong they didn't care about my opinion. No argument or anything. Though, I can be glad that obnoxious name-calling did not ensue.
That's about the most honesty and courtesy you can ever expect.
What's really telling is if you criticize Obamacare the most common response is not a rebuttal of the point you made, but rather a screed about how evil Republicans are and how they don't have a plan so you should just up and go along.
To which I say if the choice is between following a guy who's plan is to run head first into brick wall again and again or follow a guy who doesn't have an idea, I think I'll go with the second option.
...but rather a screed about how evil Republicans are...
This was what was most conveyed. They were awfully concerned that Republicans in some places were not apt about expanding Medicaid. I pointed out that medicaid is 'welfare' and the point of the ACA was 'insurance'. *crickets*
To which I say if the choice is between following a guy who's plan is to run head first into brick wall again and again or follow a guy who doesn't have an idea, I think I'll go with the second option.
This is good. I'll have to remember it.

Okay, get ready for SIX SOLID MINUTES of Gillespie.

I wonder if it would make a dent to point out that the government was far smaller in those days.
