Looks Like We Won't Have Sebelius to Kick Around Much Anymore

Even as the Obama Administration is declaring victory on Obamacare, it looks like Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius is heading for the exits, finally. The New York Times reports:
Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, is resigning, ending a stormy five-year tenure marred by the disastrous rollout of President Obama's signature legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act.
Mr. Obama accepted Ms. Sebelius's resignation this week, and on Friday morning he will nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, to replace her, officials said.
The departure comes as the Obama administration tries to move beyond its early stumbles in carrying out the law, persuade a still-skeptical public of its lasting benefits, and help Democratic incumbents, who face blistering attack ads after supporting the legislation, survive the midterm elections this fall.
Officials said Ms. Sebelius, 65, made the decision to resign and was not forced out. But the frustration at the White House over her performance had become increasingly clear, as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president's legacy.

Riiiiight. They just did it this way because publicly firing her ass would be an admission of how fucked up the whole thing is.
We're gonna need to store some boxes in your office, Kathleen, so why don't you go ahead and just move your desk back as far as you can, m'kay?
Can she at least keep her stapler?
Not if it's red.
But 7 million people enrolled in ACA, though.
You didn't stand by the person in charge of the implementation. How does that help your election chances?
I enrolled in it.
But that's just because I'm self employed and my old insurance plan was no longer allowed under the ACA rules so they ended it and I had to sign up for insurance under the ACA. The little woman had the exact same issue.
But they are still counting us anyway. What a success!
A true warrior of liberty doesn't need no stinkin' insurance.
That sucks - but trust they aren't really counting you. It's all made up - so whether you honestly enrolled and plan to actually pay the insurance bill when it arrives, they could care less.
As with any cult - it's all about perception - so long as they can hide the truth and put out what they want through propaganda - the actual signups, the actual cancellations, and the few in the end who really will be able to keep their insurance are just poker chips worth a ha'penny on a table with a minimum buy in of several billion dollars.
& sorry - I honestly don't mean to make light of your situation - I'm sure it sucks and wish you the best and hope one day you have the right to purchase that which you feel you need from a company who has the right to design a product you wish to purchase.
But this is reality - everyone other than the Top.Men are simply pawns. The only difference between the fellators on their knees and those of us against big government is how fast we get sent to the re-education camps.
Other than that - to these people - everyone not one of them is just to be used towards what they believe is the greater good.
Not because they believe it will help the people, but because they believe their legacy will be one of Savior - after all, you didn't build that.
Heckuva job, Kathy!
+1 Mission Accomplished
would result in lasting damage to the president's legacy.
Finally we know what it takes to be forced out of the Obama administration.
You're naughty...........
"I've accomplished everything I came here to do so it's time to move on..."
Who says we can't keep kicking Sebelius after she leaves office?
If you like kicking your Sebelius you can keep kicking your Sebelius.
LOL
Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?
How.did.I miss this? Genius!
This bickering is pointless. Lois Lerner will provide us with the location of the Tea Party 501(c)(4)'s by the time healthcare.gov is operational. We will then crush private health insurance with one swift stroke.
How.did.I miss this? Genius!
How.did.I miss this? Genius!
Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, is resigning...
As Seinfeld would say, "that's a shame."
"You know, there was a time we'd take a guy like you out back and beat you with a hose; now you got your goddamn unions."
administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president's legacy.
Fucking up healthcare for millions of Americans? Meh. Ruining the President's legacy? Unacceptable.
The NYT article and comments were hard to stomach.
Paraphrase: The ACA may have had some technical difficulties early on but they weren't her fault, and now it mainly suffers from an image problem caused by unfair partisan Koch-funded meanwich ads that fool gullible flyover dolts, so she's doing the noble thing by stepping aside and we should all thank and praise her for her service.
Flyover dolts? Replace that with dumb f inner city folks, and watch the bigotry charges fly.
Unlike the HHS funded ObamaCare ads that desperately attempt to sell overpriced insurance to any doltish millenial that things $150/month is a great price for birth control.
I am kinda curious if she ever folds and unloads the directions to all the dead bodies behind this entire stinking disaster. She has to have tons of dirt on why this was such a mess, but since she's been ruining things for the government well before becoming head of HHS I doubt we will ever know.
What and fuck up her upcoming lobbyist/consulting/NGO board member gig? Not a chance.
Nope, never happen. When you operate at that level, you never spill sensitive beans like that-- if you want to stay within the circles of power.
She's got too much to lose, has too many opportunities ahead of her within the corridors of power-- just not directly with the administration.
She won't burn those bridges.
True. It was a bit of wishful thinking.
Looking forward to her inevitable contempt charges in about three years.
And THIS is why Obama didn't fire her. She would have been more prone to dishing the shit if fired. But now she gets to keep her fat government pension and probably a cushy job at one of the insurance companies on Obama's payroll.
Obama and Sebelius - cowards and crooks.
Well, here's the way that things work in the legalized mafia.
You get your guy elected and he awards you with some high level position in one of the newly invented 'absolutely necessary' bureaucracies.
Once there, you ride that puppy until you've stolen enough tax payer money and fucked up affairs so badly, that it's starting to look like you're going to face a public backlash.
After that, you just get out of site, take a few luxury vacations, and after all the stink has blown over, you mysteriously show up as the head of another new 'absolutely necessary' bureaucracy.
Our government is the largest organized crime ring on the planet.
Our government is the largest organized crime ring on the planet.
Now you're getting it! But all governments are just organized crime, not just ours. They're the mafia dons who were smart enough to realize that if you pretend to follow "rule of law" and write "rules" down (of course those rules only apply to the peons), it satisfies the populace to the extent that they rarely if ever challenge you. Government and "law" is the greatest scam ever perpetrated.
lol get ready for the deep-background briefings from administration officials blaming Sebelius for everything including potholes, lol
imseriouspeople.com
She'll never be blamed for anything. In due time she'll just ride the next pony on the government merry-go-round.
OH no. She will be blamed. She is the tar baby now. She is no longer around. So everything will be her fault. That is how these crap weasels operate.
Not that it will matter to her.
No, John, they will not scapegoat her. She knows too much. They will find a low-level peon to punish.
Typical: http://www.latimes.com/local/l.....z2yWV85KpQ
Kid killed by cops helping a wounded.
So now we learn what? To never try to help someone because we're too afraid of being shot by cops? We're already afraid to call them for help.
When are people going to finally get tired of this shit? It's getting to be every fucking day.
When are people going to finally get tired of this shit?
When something happens to them. As I often say: Show me someone who respects the police, and I'll show you someone who has never had to deal with them on a professional level.
Concuricon.
Jesus fuck.
"He was covered in blood and bleeding profusely from the neck. Simultaneously, victim Winkler ran out of the door, lunging at the back of the fleeing victim. Both ran directly at the deputies."
That's what victims running from an active-shooting or stabbing do. They run away, and towards police officers.
What the fuck is going on in this country?
What the fuck is going on in this country?
Cops have no accountability, and they know it.
I think it's because cops are horrifically stupid. They train dummies to interact in volatile situations that require deep intelligence OR deep experience.
Point is, I hate scumbag cops that have an IQ of 80 BUT there are experienced cops with an IQ of at least 120 who fully understand how to deal with atrocity. Problem is, these people are fucking rare.
There should be a show where the cops are actually not heroes.
That's called real life.
-jcr
that's how i watch all cop shows, from the perspective the cops are the antagonists.
of course that's not hollywood's intention, but its what they show. the vast majority of cops on tv have no respect for the rule of law.
i think they primarily do this to create a public perception that cops are gung-ho haters of bad guys. when they snap, they snap on the side of vigilanteeism.
the jurisdictional squabbles tv cops have is amusing. they must be such testosterone induced alphas, all warring over who has the honor of solving crime! we are so lucky to dear leader to have protectorates like these.
They shot the victim who was bleeding in addition to Winkler.
It's pretty fucked. It's getting to be that in almost any situation where the cops show up, it is entirely possible that they could shoot anyone involved, whether the person is a victim, a good Samaritan, the perpetrator, or even an innocent bystander.
I don't think it's just because of no accountability. I think the cops are being trained (or "trained") to shoot first and ask questions later. They can get away with it because of no accountability, but they are literally being trained that if they don't know what's going on, just start shooting. If they aren't being trained to do it, then it must be encouraged by their culture. Because it's insane. Hostages flee from hostage situations if they can. Usually right at the cops. And now the cops might shoot them.
They have to be being trained to do this. This is a cultural problem. Just because they are never accountable doesn't necessarily mean they will start killing people. Not being subject to discipline should mean they bang hookers and sleep on the job not just start murdering people.
How much of all this can be attributed back to 9/11? Was it as bad before it? What are the stats (if any) of wrongful shootings? Is this a case of media reporting it more frequently giving the impression it's bad?
I know any bad shooting is wrong but I'm just trying to contextualize this because it's retarded cops shooting down people and animals like this.
I don't know if it was 911 or not. This kind of shit has always happened. It seems to be happening a lot more recently. They are just killers.
The best part is that the perp was charged with the murder of the person the police shot and killed.....errr, "We, No, HE did it!"
That's true. Remember, these white scumfuckers used to drive through black ghettos with their shotguns pointing right out the damn window. I'd say more but....
They are trained to be terrified of the general population. Each year 150 police die on the job, in all manners. The bulk of that is in traffic accidents. Very, very few are shot by bad guys. The amount shot by bad guys is probably way less than 7-11 clerks, or taxi drivers, and those two groups aren't terrified of the general public. But, police are. They are told their lives are in constant danger, and they must be on guard at all times. That old guy with a cane sure looked like an old guy with a shotgun. He needed to be shot 4 or 5 times in the chest. (Amazingly, he survived.)
On the other hand, cops kill 600 civilians a year. And, most of those are people shot. If a copy is pulling you over and you make any strange move, you should be frightened. 600 a year killed by cops. Times 10 years, 6000. How many service people killed in Iraq in that time?
Less than 4,500. About 3,500 of them in actual combat.
So when do we coin the term "Copholm Syndrome"? That would be when an innocent bystander prefers to stay holed up with the bad guy, rather than put their life on the line going out towards the cops?
Victim: Sure, this guy took me hostage at gunpoint, but at least he sees some value in me staying alive. Cops? Nah, not so much.
AND NOTHING ELSE HAPPENED.
Judging from the comments, the natives seem a little restless about this one. The guy who did this may have to plead to reckless endangerment and spend a few months on probation before he hires on with another force. This might be serious.
Often when older people retire they have a hard time adjusting to idleness and are dead in a few years.
Don't get your hopes up. She won't be fired. She's the kind who fails upwards.
Boom.
I once worked with a guy who had worked for that same company for 55 years.
I was talking to him one day and he told me it was his 70th birthday that day and that he would just retire, that he had the money, but he wouldn't really know what to do every day if he didn't come there, that he couldn't really imagine not being there.
I laughed and told him that I could find a lot of things to do other than come there.
He was a really sparky old dude, and I was pretty amazed at how in shape and agile he was for his age.
About a year later, the company ran into some serious financial issues and had to do some down sizing. They forced the old guy to retire. About a week later, he dropped dead of a heart attack.
You forget: she's a federal employee. Adjusting to idleness won't be that big of a deal.
Good point.
But she won't be driven around in a convoy running stop lights and provided with armed security and generally treated like a Grand Dutches anymore.
She might have to fly commercial. This is going to be horrible. These people love power and having their asses kissed. Nothing hurts them more than returning to being an ordinary citizen and no longer Secretary Good for Nothing.
Trust me, she is going to be miserable.
That's funny.

NPR was sure lapping furiously enough to make up for her certain lack of auto-lubrication.
"Really turned things around."
"Of course she was never personally directing things..."
"They focused too much on putting out a really great product --and succeeded-- but didn't focus on the web site."
Of course all of this was after I got to hear all of the vast economic wisdom from our MN state legislators on raising the minimum wage and putting it on autopilot. My personal fav?
"So what if labor costs go up. Businesses have to deal with rising costs all of the time. This will help our economy."

The people who conceived and charged with implementing Obamacare are not to be blamed, huh.
They did their best. Pats all around.
Interesting.
Losers.
It's worse than that though - they are simultaneously saying that those in charge succeeded phenomenally, but if the few places you might think they hadn't, they weren't really in charge.
Nice work if you can get it - do absolutely nothing and have all failures from that be blamed on others, and if somehow someone in actually produces anything of value - you get to take full credit as if you alone were responsible.
Though for anyone with an ounce of integrity, it's not nice work, it's fraudulent and unworthy of being desired.
It's just a good thing neither Obama nor any of his staff have any integrity - so nothing to worry about.
Up next: her book about how great she was and how hard it was to squeeze out minimal successes with all those racist/sexist/obstructionist bastards constantly trying to destroy her and anything she tries to accomplish.
After Obama is crowned g-d, her beatification can begin.
After all - what is more miraculous than succeeding under the intense pressure and murderous intent of the reThuglitards?
I'm going to vomit.
I think Klein is a comedy act. No one is that stupid and dishonest. Andy Kaufman lives and his name is Ezra Klein.
EXPLANATORY JOURNALISMS!!
'Won'?
What did it 'win'? Is this like the Ed McMahaon sweepstakes thing where you win $20million! You just have to fill out a lot of forms and shit and a few months later you have no idea why you owe Golf Digest $150??
Is that a cigarette in her hand?
That's an e-pen, dear.
Son of a bitch must pay!
In happier news, Episiarch apparently got engaged
Come on, Episiarch isn't 25.
Dear Prudence,
Should I marry the Victoria's Secret model next door or the glamorous lady engineer? They're both fabulously wealthy.
Yours,
Totally Real Guy
Seeing NutraSweet's shame-shame really scarred me for life. Did I mention he's my cousin? And he's a chick?
"How do I even face the blasphemous prospect of her having to touch it with her hand? "
If I believed this was real I would advise the guy to put a 12 gauge in his mouth and pull the trigger with his toe.
Bitch set him up.
"I would feel extremely relieved if I am able to have a response."
I bet..
He's getting married? That is a crisis. We have to stop this.
Its touching moments like this when I realize why I keep coming back to this asylum. It fascinates. Kind of like watching a slow moving train wreck.
It seems the large majority of liberals out there on the webz think she did a great job. From HuffPo:
Frances "Marlin" Perkins? Well, I have to admit that I watched Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.
Jesus, the no one in Obama's orbit can possibly fail in their eyes.
That's some serious peak into the mindset of losers.
Mitch Muncrief (SearingTruth)
myspace user.......yeah!
From the millions you saved so far, thank you gentle friend Kathleen Sebelius.
Now on to single payer health care for all.
No no. That's not what they want. No no no no no. No no no no no no no no. No no. I've been told, even by people on these here boards, that's not what they want. No no no no no. No. No no no. No no no no no. No. No.
No.
No.
And by the way, who the fuck talks like that?
Socialist idiots. Oh sorry. That question was rhetorical. My bad.
She performed her duties with grace, decorum and dedication in the face of overwhelming odds of success.
So, you're saying she didn't exhibit a public meltdown while fucking up big time?
The degree to which the TEAM hacks will glorify and praise their masters is mystifying to me. I just do not get it. Why the fuck would you waste your time pretending to yourself that this person is a noble selfless wonderful creature, when you have no evidence of that whatsoever? I can see thinking "they're not so bad" (not that I would agree), but...this? This acting like they're fucking Gandhi and Jesus rolled into one?
I really, really just do not get it.
Yeah, "she's not as scummy as others" or something, okay. Wrong, but okay. But making heroes out of politicians? WTF? The only time that's okay is when they are dead.
The only time that's okay is when they are dead.
You know...
I am happy to see these idiots. They are not he majority of the country. The more brain dead they get, the less likely they are to do anything to save themselves.
Also, the overcompensating is becoming pretty obvious. They can't admit that even Sibelious, the biggest fuck up of them all is at fault because that might mean facing up to how big of a disaster this is. They know it is a disaster and overcompensate by pretending things are perfect.
"They are not he majority of the country."
Ahem. You sure?
So, I just posed a couple questions to a couple "environmental" groups on fb (that this person I went to college with keeps inviting me to) and a 'pro-aca/sad Sebelius is resigning' post of another fb associate. I await the results.
I'm strongly reminded of Donald Rumsfled's resignation, partway into Bush's second term, after the Iraq surge.
I'm strongly reminded of Donald Rumsfled's resignation, partway into Bush's second term, after the Iraq surge.
Rumsfeld didn't resign after the surge. He resigned before it. Firing Rumsfeld was Bush admitting that Runsfeld had fucked up and they actually needed more people.
Unless Obama plans to actually change course and showed he is learned something, something that he has never done in his entire life, this is more than likely just him getting someone to leave and become easy to blame for all of the fuck ups and disasters that will no doubt be soon upon us.
If Obamacare is a success, why is she resigning AND why is Obama accepting it?
No one quits when something is a success or even on the way to being 'fixed.'
Good point.
As I mentioned somewhere else = its about not having to answer questions about past statements. There's a whole-lotta accumulated bullshit that's been fed to the press about the ACA over the last 6 months, and she's the one signing off on these fabrications. Rotate her out and the next person can ask, "What difference does it make at this point?"
Newperson: "That's all in the past and I'm here to make sure we move forward."
Because the wunderkind Ezra Klein tells us so, of course.
Obama is just spiking the football after the touchdown that his administration accomplished.
football == Kathleen Sebelius
Guess she decided to evacuate in their moment of triumph after all.
Seriously I can't believe we haven't had more jokes about Sebelius' resemblance to Khan Noonien Singh.
Come one, guys. Seriously.
We offered the health care system order!
Thank you.
Btw, i am enjoyi.g my self in Louisville.
Of course! We are one big, happy administration!
Ah, Obama, my old friend, do you know the Kansan proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? It is very cold for a lame duck.
Yeah, his legacy is being tainted by being connected to Sebelius. It has nothing to do with the fact he is a total doofus.
The best way to destroy the enemy of liberty is by incapacitating their decision-making abilities through shock and disruption. I believe the army of liberty has done a decent job at doing this under present circumstances. While we won the battle of neutralizing one of their top command and control leaders known as Sebelius, there is someone else that will step into that position. Having said that, I believe that we have essentially demoralized not only their leadership but their boots on the ground that try their hardest using or stealing infinite amount of natural and financial resources to keep the rotten edifice from collapsing in on itself.
Looking at the slow mo train wreck of the past 10 years we call a country and at the shit-for-brains leadership, and the abomination we call Obamacare I am more in the
"Maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!"
camp
You clearly haven't been reading the Cato blog of the numerous court cases that are or have been filed against all or portions of Obamacare. You need to see this as a form of asymmetrical warfare (Gorilla Warfare) that is being waged against our enemy and it's massive state apparatus. Because you don't understand military theory, you came to the faulty conclusion that mass always triumphs.
Sometimes man you jsut have to roll with it. Wow.
http://www.GotsDatAnon.tk
Meh. What's one more job lost to Obamacare?
