Brickbat: They Are Making a List
Anita Belle's granddaughter accused her of spanking her, prompting an investigation by Michigan's Child Protective Services (CPS). The investigation cleared her of abuse, but CPS placed Belle on a state registry of child abusers anyway. A Detroit TV station reports that the list includes the names of about 275,000 people. Those people haven't necessarily been charged with, much less convicted of, any crimes. And many people aren't even aware their names are on the list, since all it takes is one CPS worker to decide they should be on there to end up on the list.

Many children are living the horrific real-life consequences of not having their rotten behinds tanned by someone who loved them when they were certainly begging to have it done.
Thats it buddy! You are on the list.
I think you just made the list...
Is there a list of people who refuse to use alt-text?
And where can we find the map to see how many live in or near my neighborhood? Think of the snowflakes!
It's a lot like Ayra's list...
Meh. I think anything beyond a light corrective slap is more likely to cause behavior problems than to solve them. I'm a bit shocked at how many libertarians think that violence is just fine if it is directed at your own children.
That said, being on a CPS list is also probably more likely to cause harm than to help.
I think that is going to make a whole lot of sense dude.

Just put everyone on it when they turn 18 and be done with it.
At least Santa checks it twice.
The granddaughter is going to grow up the model Soviet citizen.
That doesn't work out so well...
Due process? We don't need no stinkin' due process.
When states abuse citizens it seems fitting that counties should have rights now just to be able to nullify central-planning madness.
It's the No Flay list.
I didn't RTFA, but if the list is secret, what are the consequences of being placed on it?
FTFA: All it takes is the word of CPS staffers to label you an abuser, which can prevent you from getting certain jobs or doing volunteer work. The list could of course be repurposed at a later date. Always be suspicious of this sort of thing. And the "structured decision making risk assessment tool" (as seen on the still image of the video accompanying the article) is really creepy.
Michigan, my Michigan....
FUCK YOU, CPS.
Anyone who raises a child in Michigan is being abusive by default.
