Scott Shackford on the Tom Brown Show on WEZS at 9 P.M. Eastern Time

|

I will be chatting up a storm with Tom Brown on the appropriately named Tom Brown Show, airing on WEZS in the lovely state of New Hampshire. The show runs from 9 p.m. to midnight Eastern, but I'll be up early on the schedule. We'll be discussing the various events making news this week and you can tune in online here. Many Reason staffers have been on the show. This is my first time, so I'll try not to screw things up too horribly.

  1. Is he still pissed at Flashman?

    1. I think Flashman is the one pissed for getting kicked out of Rugby School.

  2. SHACKFORDIANS, ASSEMBLE!!!!

  3. Thank God I won’t have to endure fashion critiques.

    1. Hey! Gilmore!

    2. Your momma dresses you funny?

  4. Anyone here?

  5. Where is the late night Stossel thread?

I’ve finally turned on FB to watch and no thread. WTF man?

    1. Stossel posts his piece on Wednesday. We need to get Welch to re-post it Thursday evening.

  6. Well, they finished pretty quickly.

Time for some trolling. Let’s see…

“Led Zeppelin to Reissue First 3 LPs With Unreleased Songs

“”The material on the companion discs presents a portal to the time of the recording of Led Zeppelin,” Jimmy Page says…

“Page first announced that he had been working on the reissues in November 2012. He told Rolling Stone at the time that, in addition to treating his fans to new “sonic and visual thrills,” his goal with the reissues was to make them sound better. “The catalog was last remastered 20 years ago,” he said. “That’s a long time. Everything is being transferred from analog to a higher-resolution digital format. That’s one of the problems with the Zeppelin stuff. It sounds ridiculous on MP3. You can’t hear what’s there properly.””

    1. I dunno, maybe it will sound better. Personally, I like a bit of the old sound of their albums. The imperfections etc.

I never found that their albums sounded bad anyway. I assume this is just a money grab.

  7. “A fatwa (religious edict) against “all you can eat” buffets by a Saudi cleric has stirred debate among users of social networking site Twitter….

“”Whoever enters the buffet and eats for 10 or 50 riyals without deciding the quantity they will eat is violating Sharia (Islamic) law,” said Fawzan on al-Atheer channel.”

    1. What if they eat for *other* than 10 or 50 riyals? What if they decide they quantity is ‘until I’m stuffed’?

There’s a lot of loopholes in that fatwa.

  8. Always hoping for Tom Green show.
    Every. Time.

    1. What, you want to see him eat horse cock or something?

  9. Social liberal defends the Texas pro-abortion protesters who chanted “Hail Satan” during the dispute over banning late term abortions (Sen. Ted Cruz had criticized the protesters):

“”Lucien Greaves, communications director of the Satanic Temple, says Cruz’s comments oversimplify the issue by trying to inject religion into the abortion debate. Although pro-abortion-rights protesters did indeed chant “Hail Satan” at a rally outside the Texas Capitol, it was to combat antiabortion protesters who were singing “Amazing Grace.”

“”The message conveyed by the Hail Satan faction was, I feel, both salient and clear: Religious rationales used to justify certain views to some hold no currency whatsoever to scores of others,” Greaves told National Journal. “Chanting ‘Hail Satan’ was an effective way of saying, ‘You are going to have to argue your point on rational grounds. We do not subscribe to your religion.'””

    1. (Is the author aware of the salience of “Amazing Grace?” It’s not only a hymn, it’s a movie about William Wilberforce, the evangelical Protestant statesman who helped make slavery illegal. How dare Wilberforce impose his religion on others?)

    2. Deja Vu?

  10. Fucking “Vikings” always comes through with the highly-actional violence. EXCELLENT again this week! Blood spurtin’ and bones breakin’. My favorite cable soap opera now that “Breaking Bad” is over. And “Boardwalk Empire’s” in remission…

    1. I’m holding out for “Law & Order: vikings unit”

      1. More like ‘COPS: Scandinavia’

  11. Whee, great last thread there Reason.

Fortunately there’s a whole thread of dildos right below it.

  12. I think that makes a lot of sense dude.
