Russian Troops in Ukraine, Venezuelan Protesters Clash With Cops, Arizona Bill Would Allow Warrantless Searches of Abortion Clinics: P.M. Links

-
world-econ-forum-cc-by-nc-sa The Russian government confirmed that it sent troops to Ukraine's Crimean territory, claiming that they must protect Russia's naval fleet stationed on the Black Sea. If that doesn't teach Ukraine a lesson, President Vladimir Putin's favorite motorcycle club, the "Night Wolves" has promised to join the fight.
- Thousands of protesters convened in Venezuela's capital city and clashed with police today. Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) are pushing for sanctions againt the nation's government.
- President Obama is launching an initiative called "My Brother's Keeper," which will focus on empowering underprivileged minority males. The president's own half-brother criticized Obama in a recent interview, accusing him of putting "politics before family."
- Arizona Republicans today introduced a bill that would allow the state health department to conduct warrantless searches of abortion clinics.
- Sen. Ted Crux (R-TX) told a Tea Party crowd that he is "absolutely convinced we are going to repeal every single word of Obamacare." Maybe another 47 votes to repeal and the president will change his mind.
- A California appeals court ruled that it's legal to use a cell phone while driving, so long as one doesn't actually talk on the phone.
- A hidden camera recorded part of a Supreme Court hearing earlier this week. No word on what they're all hiding under those robes, though.

...President Vladimir Putin's favorite motorcycle club, the "Night Wolves" has promised to join the fight.
Sons against Anarchy.
Hello.
Late.
Nice, Fist.
If Putin really wanted results, he'd hire Airwolf. They can take out entire armies.
And stop nuclear war, too.
Eight percent, bitches!
I feel like I am missing out on a meme...
It's my understanding that 8% of people don't want to learn new memes.
I.am the 8%
db.I.Am
It goes back to a feud between John and the fake classical liberal.
Not sure about the details regarding the 8%.
Apparently shriek posted a link to a survey proving that Obamacare was popular, and upon reading the article, fluffy discovered that the population of people who wanted to keep Obamacare as is was 8%.
It is one of many signs as to the fact that Shriek is functionally incapable of passing a Turing Test.
Weigel's Cock Ring|2.28.14 @ 4:31PM
You know, either you or Hillary's Clitdong need to post more links. I would really like to see that H/T.
How come all the employees at video game news sites are members of the 8%?
Arizona Republicans today introduced a bill that would allow the state health department to conduct warrantless searches of abortion clinics.
Gentlemen, start your abortion thread.
Or not? Pretty please? It's not Saturday morning yet.
"To predict what any sufficiently complex bureaucracy will do, simply imagine it is run by a cabal of its enemies."
These guys seem committed to keeping the DNC in the 2014 Senate races nationally.
Really earning the stupid party moniker, these ones.
Although the hed is actually Brewer draws praise for veto of anti-gay bill.
Is that a Bitcoin in your pocket?
Did they at least swab his hands for Bitcoin residue?
They smelled Bitcoin shake.
"Venezuela is now the world champion of inflation, homicide, insecurity, and shortages of essential goods--from milk for children to insulin for diabetics and all kinds of indispensable products. All this despite having the greatest oil reserves in the world and a government with absolute control of all state institutions and levers of power."--Mois?s Naim, TheAtlantic.com, Feb. 25
Joe from Lowell. Joe from Lowell, please pick up the white courtesy phone. Joe from Lowell.
Hoarders! Wreckers! Saboteurs!
But, seriously, I feel sorry for the people of Venezuela.
I don't. They defend left-wing garbage, then let them deal with it.
Not all of them. Some of those people are children, so not responsible.
For the children!
Yeah well, those kids have parents I assume? Soooo....don't care.
They're the first to praise Che.
I thought libertarians oppose collectivism?
You'd think a libertarian from Quebec would not be so quick to collectively judge everyone in a country because their government (and perhaps a majority of voters - given the control the government has over the country, who knows how legit their elections actually are) sucks.
Geez, I was generalizing tongue in cheek. Relax. I understand that and you're right - I invoke the Quebec acid test in most of my thoughts.
All this despite having ... a government with absolute control of all state institutions and levers of power."--Mois?s Naim, TheAtlantic.com, Feb. 25
Moises Naim sounds like a real idiot, as I don't think he meant "because" instead of "despite".
The government just doesn't have enough absolute control!
Don't you mean the White Weaselly Twat Phone?
But they have free healthcare and sensible gun control!

A California appeals court ruled that it's legal to use a cell phone while driving, so long as one doesn't actually talk on the phone.
I didn't even know my cell phone could make calls until a few days ago.
A California appeals court ruled that it's legal to use a cell phone while driving, so long as one doesn't actually talk on the phone.
IOW, they outlawed the safest thing yuo can use a cell phone for while driving (talking), while legalizing the most dangerous thing (texting).
They must be planning to run for the legislature, or something.
You really can't think of anything more dangerous to do with a device that has full internet access than texting?

I'm probably reading too much into this, but even challenging the RCMP's reclassification? It's some sort of gospel?
The Newsmax Headline's Banner to my right does a great job summing up why I am not a conservative:

No Bible Code or 7 herbs that completely cure cancer? It's a boring day at the Newsmax banner.
I am glad you mentioned the 'Bible Code for Amazing Stock Market Returns' pushed on every conservative outlet there is.
If that doesn't prove how ignorant and gullible conservatives are then there is no hope for this country.
"Bible code for the 8%!"
Wouldn't the "seven herbs" thing be more appropriate for Taboola?
Proverbs 6:17 "Buy GOOG, TSLA, NFLX, and QCOM initial offerings".
Shhh! You're in hostile territory here!
We had a female libertarian editor post an abortion freedom article here before she was quickly ambushed.
Re: Palin's Buttwipe,
"Abortion Freedom"? Is that like "Assassination Permissiveness?"
Biden Frozen Out After Gay-Marriage Gaffe
Conservatives are to blame for the fact that our goofy-ass vice president isn't a part of Obama's inner circle?
OK genius, whatever you say.
It's the obsession with fighting gay marriage I was noting.
Dude, the one mention of gay marriage in that list you put in there is a link to a story about how Joe Biden has been frozen out of Obama's decision-making process ever since Obama got pissed that Biden publicly came out in support of it without Obama's permission.
You're apparently such a dumbass that you didn't even realize that that story makes Obama look bad, and not conservatives.
Mike, calm down, you're precious conservatives are going to be OK.
"you're" precious conservatives
OK, I see the problem; I'm talking to an elementary school dropout.
Even worse: he's a law student.
Uh . . .
Hayek did a better job over 50 years ago. He even titled it catchy.
Bo, you will find that most here agree with you on most of that stuff.
It puzzles me why you dont see the same in the left.
Oh, wait. Never mind.
I see Bo and the Plug forming a dangerous alliance.
That has potential for Sugarfree porn/fic.
I see Bo and the Plug forming a dangerous alliance.
Anti-conservatives on a libertarian board? Unpossible!
8% of the people here support anti-conservatism, so it's obviously going to win.
Math is hard. One of PB's other great moments was when he explained how odds work.
His expertise on conflict minerals is in the 8% too.
Why are you lumping them together? I've never seen Bo argue against liberty, whereas Shriek argues against it in every post.
I was just going off of how irritating they both can be.
There's the difference. Bo is a tad....obsessed...with his enemies, but it's not like his enemies are any different than the rest of ours. Shriek is just a dyed in the wool prog who has trouble speaking around that tiny democratic cock in his mouth.
Why I don't see the same with the left, or 'you' in general?
If the former, perhaps you missed my comment in the debt ceiling raising thread about how while I disagree with the right on so many things I think the left and I are actually in different realities, a reality where the fact that someone raises has raised their credit limit while remaining in debt 40 times in recent times is an argument FOR instead of AGAINST doing it yet again.
Way to light the Botard signal, Suthen!
*shuns Suthenboy*
"Boston College Star Gives Up NFL for Navy SEALs"
He realized how *dangerous* football was, so he went into a safer line of work.
How long before he is killed in action, first thought to be by enemy fire, but later determined to be friendly fire.
Isn't that what happens to football players in the military?
That is the Rangers - not the SEALS!
Yeah, I don't see the problem with this story either. The last time I checked, it was still a volunteer military.
The Newsmax Headline's Banner to my right
So what explains the banners for 3d porn games, sales on sofas and nubile hipster girls selling t-shirts on my right?
Arizona Republicans today introduced a bill that would allow the state health department to conduct warrantless searches of abortion clinics.
The ATF can do warrantless searches of FFL holders so I suppose it is "reasonable" by statist standards.
I though all health inspections were warrantless.
Basically anything requiring a license has that potentjal. Requiring a license to do something and making submission to warrantless searches and waiver of the right.against.self incrimination a prereqhisite for.obtaining the license is.standard practice, and evidently legal under US law.
Anything is reasonable by statist standards.
AZ socons obviously haven't learned anything about overreach after their recent drubbing.
Question for lawyers here.
Is it really that difficult to get a search warrant?
Cops are good at shopping for friendly judges. There's a judge at Torrance Superior Court that signs about half of all the warrant around here.
There's a judge at Torrance Superior Court that signs about half of all the warrant around here.
Does that mean that the other half is left unsigned, or that the other half is signed by other judges?
The remaining 50% that are signed are by the several dozen other judges. I don't know what percentage of applications get denied.
The whole point is to hassle them. This is going to shape up into an interesting debate as the SoCons contort themselves to back away from the Fourth Amendment since hatred of all things abortion trumps everything else.
Nah, I sell 'em on eBay.
Do Health Inspectors need warrants for restaurants, too?
I thought cops liked to use health inspectors for an in since they don't need warrants.
Cops like to tailgate on health inspectors, meter readers, anyone else who can get them on premises.
Yes, an "administrative" search.
No.
A hidden camera recorded part of a Supreme Court hearing earlier this week.
The justices were caught saying how stupid 47% of the cases were.
Wonder if anyone will lose a job over that.
I blame the Sequester.
Maybe the Court Reporter.
The Russian government confirmed that it sent troops to Ukraine's Crimean territory, claiming that they must protect Russia's naval fleet stationed on the Black Sea.
It would be much easier to protect that fleet if it were stationed in Russia and not Ukraine.
Can't the naval fleet protect the naval fleet?
Probably too busy naval gazing.
I'll ask my cousin that's in the Navy. He might be on his computer in Diego Garcia.
Catholic SoCon On How to Fight Contraception, Prudently
"Contraception is one of the great scourges not just of our time but of all time. In two ways it sets men and women against their creator. First, because they choose disobedience over the clear teaching of the Church. Second, it says no to the creative work of our Lord. Both of these put their souls in jeopardy.
Contraception is also the font of many of the deadly social pathologies of our time; the sexual revolution, pornography, divorce and family breakdown, abortion and the mainstreaming of same-sex arrangements including what seems like an inevitable change in the social and legal definition of marriage.
This is why I have dedicated much of the past twenty years to fighting contraception. If you were to do a site search on my organization's website you would see a few hundred stories about the evils of contraception....
I say contraception is like Japan during World War II. It is the font of our present evils but we cannot go after it until the ground is prepared. We must island hop and strategically bomb but not invade, not yet anyway."
http://www.crisismagazine.com/.....ption-hill
I wonder what the atomic bomb is supposed to be in this analogy.
I think Margaret Atwood wrote a book about that.
You can't make up shit that crazy. Srsly.
This is brilliant. Thank you, Bo.
How can contraception be the font of abortion?
I would think if abortion were likened to water flowing out of a fountain, that contraception would necessarily have to be likened to throttling down the flow valve.
If you use contraception, you are "not open to life" when you have sex, which means, among other things, that you are treating your partner like a sex toy, and also that you will be more likely to have an abortion if the contraception fails, since you went into it knowing you didn't want a kid.
I really would like to know how these anti-contraception nuts feel about welfare.
If there's any prohibition stupider than alcohol prohibition, it would be contraceptive prohibition.
He argues that contraception is so popular in the US in present circumstances, that Catholic conservatives should not focus on it. He's willing to endorse politicians who want it sold over the counter. He isn't so sure that contraceptives are abortifacients.
You're ragging on him because he comtemplates some future time when contraception has lost the support it currently has.
But right now he's prepared to reach out to people with different viewpoints on the issue, for the sake of other goals. And he criticizes fellow-conservative for being too purist on this issue.
Yes, a typical SoCon extremist.
Vatican City drinks more wine per person than anywhere else in the world
Go home, Vatican, you're drunk!
Wait, I take it back, Vatican, want to come to a party I'm throwing later?
Jesus juice is important for their sex lives.
Or a substitute for their sex lives.
Fun fact: the catholic church actually bans male masturbation (but not female) because you're killing sperm.
What's their position on cybersex?
I'm ... um ... asking for a friend.
Do a virtual Hail Mary afterwards.
The sperm is going to die in your sack anyway. What don't they just demand castration instead?
Religious dogma doesn't have to conform to any sort of rational frame; that's why it's dogma.
Your left hand is your mistress at your call,
But it provides you no male heirs at all.
One coupling gave Horatius children three,
And Mars bred heirs to flock around his knee.
Had they just coupled with their sterile hands
We would have lacked out patriotic bands.
For marital reasons reconsider then:
Your left hand squirts out nonexistent men.
Martial's Epigrams 9.41
Argh, I found the translation I find funnier, but too late!
"What you are losing between your fingers, Ponticus, is a human being."
What about nuns and menstruation?
"Fun fact: the catholic church actually bans male masturbation (but not female) because you're killing sperm."
Dare I ask your source for that claim?
*Now* Tonio stops obsessively responding to my posts!
If anyone's interested, a quick Google search would show what the Church's teaching actually is, but I think that to many people, this story is simply "too good to check," as the saying goes.
I think we know how the church feels about female masturbation.
o/~ Every sperm is sacred
Every sperm is great
When a sperm is wasted
God gets quite irate! o/~
Fun fact: the catholic church actually bans male masturbation (but not female) because you're killing sperm.
Really? You wouldn't happen to have a cite for that, would you?
I just want to know why my beverages aren't nearly tax free. This is a place where I'm willing to accept The Vatican's moral leadership on a global scale.
Jesus juice is important for their sex lives.
Did that make Michael Jackson a bishop?
I presume it's good wine, too, and not crap like white zin.
There aren't any cosmotarians in Vatican City.
I saw the Jesuits liquor cabinet and recycle bin at my college. I doubt these figures are being distorted by outlying groups.
Does that include the leftover trans-substantiated Blood of Christ the priest is required to drink?
Or maybe the next President doesn't need to change his mind.
There's a strong possibility that the next President will have run on a platform of repeal and then change his mind and decide it can be "fixed" instead.
You misspelled "absolute certainty."
President Obama is launching an initiative called "My Brother's Keeper," which will focus on empowering underprivileged minority males.
Would it at all happen to involve the forced shifting of resources perhaps?
If you refuse to participate everyone will know you killed Abel.
If they try to make me I'll raise Cain.
Whew, maybe he can finally help out his own brother:

My Brother's Keeper.
Why does it not shock me that Obumbles would not have a problem with a name like that?
Bill in Iowa to Allow Abortion Providers to be Sued for 'Regret'
"The 'pro-life' coalition is getting preposterously creative with its legislation. In Iowa, a new bill would allow women to sue their doctors for malpractice up to 10 years after their abortion?not because they suffered physical injury (those rare cases are already covered under existing malpractice law), but because they experienced regret."
http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_.....burger_bar
So it's doing for abortion what the Lilly Ledbetter Act does for employment?
I do not get the analogy, can you detail it a bit more? As I understand it the Ledbetter act extends the statute of limitations there is for one to sue for pay discrimination, this bill would allow someone to ask for an abortion, get what they asked for, and then if they regret it sue the doctor.
The Lilly Ledbetter Act allows you to apply for a job, negotiate a salary, get what you asked for, and then if you regret it sue your employer.
They are very analogous.
I think the difference is that in the Iowa bill case you regret that you got what you asked for, an abortion. In the Ledbetter case the suit is over discrimination, which I do not think the applicant would ask for (you might say they 'accepted' it, and to that extent should not later complain, I'd be inclined to agree).
Lily Ledbetter worked for Goodyear for nearly a decade. She was getting the salary she agreed to. The fact she accepted 200+ paychecks without complaint is fucking dispositive as to the question of whether or not she was getting what she wanted.
Yes, Bo, nobody wants to get paid, they just "accept" the biweekly deposit to their account, in much the same way as one "accepts" the weather for the day.
+fucking nice!
Because suing for pay discrimination is retroactively saying "I regret the pay and job we mutually agreed upon!"
Hmmm...let's think of what other groups could sue or be sued for "regret" if this sets a precedent.
I got Crips in the livin' room/

Who is Ted Crux?
Dude's at the epicenter of all problems.

He links the biscuit and the apostrophe.
Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) are pushing for sanctions againt the nation's government.
Venezuela's government will pass those savings on to its public.
If ever there was an appropriate subject for the phrase "What difference, at this point, does it make?" it would be this one.
Brabus, for when you really want to spend a lot of money for a Mercedes.
"In standard form, the Mercedes G 65 AMG Final Edition runs a 463 kW (630 hp) 6.0 Liter V12 Biturbo and is the world's most powerful production off-road vehicle. The Brabus is upgraded to 800 hp, adding more than 25 percent to the power, plus 42 percent more torque, though in practice, peak torque is limited electronically to 811 lb-ft. While that's only 10 percent extra grunt, if you plan on getting the pedal to the metal in a beastie such as this, might we suggest some special neck exercises at the gym might be in order... the Brabus 800 will reach 62 mph from standstill in 4.2 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph though removing the limiter will enhance maximum velocity to 167 mph."
One of my neighbors has a Brabus. They've actually managed to make a sedan more badass than an AMG.
That is one ugly car.
Yeah, low-profile tires have no place on an off-road vehicle.

Gambia's Islamic Council Backs Jammeh On Anti?Gay Crusade
In all fairness Gambia currently does not have the death penalty for 'mos. Clearly this fellow would prefer it if they did, and is crazy enough to suggest that it should extend to diplomats.
This is what happens when you have no penguins in your country.
Nice.
Is he talking about Sidney Crosby? Because those rumors aren't true.
No, Mario Lemieux
Rick Kehoe.
Even animals follow the laws of Imam Touraynature.
Whoos, that should just be "laws of nature"
GaGa preserve us.
Am I missing something. What is a penguin slang for?
To be honest, I am a little surprised that they are just now making homosexuality a crime. Given the very uncivilized nature of the place, I just assumed it always had been.
Oh, I was mocking his "Even animals follow the laws of Imam Touraynature" statement. There have been a few cases of male penguins (who mate for life iirc) pairing off at zoos. A zoo in Germany tried to split the couple up and it went poorly.
It's ok though. If you point out that animals get their same sex action on, the same bigots point out that humans have free will and agency and can rise above base animal behavior. They have an answer for everything!
Uganda and Gambia already criminalize homosexual behavior with prison sentences of up to 14 years (same in both countries). Uganda upped it to life imprisonment but only because the international community flipped the fuck out over the proposal to execute them.
Gambia has so far been saber rattling with the president making statements about cutting off the head of any homosexual caught in the country and having laws stricter than those in Iran for the past several years. The worry is that he'll be emboldened by Uganda and Nigeria's recent legal changes to actually follow through on raising the penalties against homosexual behavior, AND he has the support of the primary Islamic council should he choose to do so.
While it can't be enforced because of Lawrence v. Texas, it should be noted that Idaho still has a law on it's books proscribing a life sentence for consenual homosexual sodomy.
Meanwhile, back in the USA, people go ballistic over "microaggressions"
President Obama is launching an initiative called "My Brother's Keeper," which will focus on empowering underprivileged minority males.
Saw a little snippet of him blathering about this. He said something which sounded like culture of personal responsibility.
I laughed.
Yeah, and he better check with the existing Brothers Keeper charity, because they're not going to like having their name stolen.
Christ, he just can't talking about this brother's keeper shit. You know who my brother's keeper is? The bitch who had him, not me.
We need to up our SJW cred!!! To the Internet!!!
We're looking for people with physical or mental (or both!) disabilities
I can't believe someone wrote that sentence.
I am a colored retard with gay AIDS. Can I write an article?
So Palin's Buttplug is gettin' a blog.
I'm dark and disturbed!
I got it all!
That site has the mental disabilities covered.
Oh my god! The morons don't understand English!
Not only are they differentiating between the able and the disabled, they are making a prejudicital distinction based on the what category a potential employee falls into.
I'm tempted to troll the shit out of them.
Please do. I will pay you...
...in Dogecoin.
Free suggestion: write a sample post about how the gun rights of the mentally disabled are infringed.
Not subtle enough and they'd toss that out in a heartbeat.

...and yet, nobody really treats me much differently than before.
Oh yeah? Well I'm Jarl of STFU, you jack wagon.
Gird your loins.
Yeah, pleb?! My weak, easy-to-outrun guards will fuck you up.
"My weak, easy-to-outrun guards"
You have soldiers from the HQ 25th DIV?!
Well, in their defense they could run faster before they took that arrow to the knee.
Well, in their defense they could run faster before they took that arrow to the knee.
Is stupid considered a disability?
Shreek, dude, that sounds like the job for you.
DEEEERRRPPPP. They just can't stop touching that third rail.
Why do you hate clean and safe abortion clinics? No standards are too high when women's health is involved.
You can print almost anything nowadays: Printing living cells
cheaply and effectively.
"Researchers in Houston have developed a cost effective method for printing living cells, claiming almost a 100 percent survival rate. The method, which is akin to a modern version of ancient Chinese wood block printing, allow cells to be printed on any surface and in virtually any two dimensional shape. And while current inkjet printers adapted to print living cells can cost upwards of US$10,000 with a cell survival rate of around 50 percent, this simple new technique could see the cell stamps produced for around $1."
I can print my own race of atomic super cells!
+1 Bride of the Monster
I wonder how many shoplifters this piece of shit has slapped cuffs on.
FTA: "Every day, Officer Richard Frey works to uphold the law.
But the Hamilton County Courthouse service officer is no stranger to breaking it: He has been caught stealing multiple times."
-and-
"But Frey has not been suspended or disciplined by the sheriff's office. However, court records show Harrison police charged him with one count of misdemeanor theft.
His punishment: Diversion, which means after he pays a $300 fine and completes 40 hours of community service, the charge will be dropped."
Of course.
The UK is treading a PC minefield wearing giant clown shoes
Who knew this is how "royalty" would end?
Wait, so they're finally running out of cousins of the opposite sex?
Then they'd better start licensing gay marriage, stat!
Didn't they already have to legalize it so that Charles and Camilla could wed?
She's no Glenn Close, but Camilla is a handsome woman.
A hidden camera recorded part of a Supreme Court hearing earlier this week.
I saw something about this which referred to an outburst by a spectator. I hope it had something to do with a suggestion they read the goddam Constitution.
No, it was corporations are not people claptrap
Hmm, I guess it wasn't "rape" rape.
FTA (emphasis mine): The attorney general's office says Newport faces a sentence of between 22 and 29 months when he is sentenced in April.
According to court documents, Newport last March showed up at a Colville woman's apartment, handcuffed her and had sex without her consent. Documents say two other women told investigators that Newport had pulled them over on suspicion of driving while drunk, then had sex with them in secluded areas.
So, a "civilian" gets a firearm enhancer and a slew of kidnapping charges added to his charge while a cop gets it reduced because it's in the line of duty. Makes sense to me.
Why do you hate our Heroic First Responders in Blue?
(And how do you find this stuff? You've got a newspaper in Indiana reporting on cops in Washington.)
Because they think the law doesn't apply to them.
The internet.
This is the first time a First Responder actually was the first one to come.
My guess is that every sexual encounter a police officer is involved in, the First Responder is the only one to come.
Meanwhile in the Indian Ocean: India, Saudi Arabia sign defense cooperation pact
The defence cooperation pact will allow exchange of defence-related information, military training and education as well as cooperation in areas varying from hydrography and security to logistics.
Saudi Arabia is India's fourth largest trade partner with bilateral trade recording at $43 billion in 2012-13. Saudi Arabia is also India's largest crude oil supplier accounting for about one-fifth of its total imports in 2012-13.
Indians form the largest expatriate community in Saudi Arabia and their contribution in the progress and development of their host country is well recognised. There are over 2.88 million Indian nationals now working in Saudi Arabia.
And that is teh free-key because muslims hate them some statue-worshipping heathens. Duly noted that there are lots of muslims in India, but it's still predominantly a Hindu country.
Duly noted that there are lots of muslims in India,
Something like a hundred million.
Yes, but that's only 0.3% of their total population.
It's also odd given the (relative) friendliness between India and Iran on the one hand and Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on the other.
Men must stop pursuing careers so that women don't have to work
Because the ethical thing to do is pay people for not working.
Right?
Successful male business executives all lead stress-free lives, with jobs they love and that never tire them.
She declares there has to be "a movement" and her rallying cry is thus: "Women of the world, recline!"
And think of Mother England?
For my job, I regularly interview C-level women about things generally unrelated to leaning in, Sheryl Sandberg, or Facebook, but if by any chance the subject comes around to books, or Facebook, or whatever, all they want to talk about is how much they love Sandberg, how she's their role model, how Lean In is the greatest thing ever, etc. Seriously, this has happened more times than I can count.
This shit is sad.
Right, because the surest way to improve quality of life is to make sure we create less wealth.
Because when I think of enforcing such a cap, the first word that comes to mind is simple.
And there's nothing better for class mobility than telling people they can't work as much as they damn well please.
I think a required portion of obtaining a journalism degree should be to work some job wholly unrelated to journalism for two years or so.
I'm trying to imagine them enforcing it on the self-employed.
Nobody needs to be self-employed. Entrepreneurship is privilege!
STOP GROUTING THAT FLOOR, CITIZEN
Uh...has anyone ever introduced them to jobs where you don't get paid for overtime? WTF?
I was wondering about that, too. But I don't think it's super-uncommon, unfortunately. My hick cousin-in-law had a hard time grasping that it doesn't matter how many hours it takes; my dad has responsibilities he has to attend to, and if he doesn't, he gets fired.
Yeah, the only people I've known who didn't know that have been kids, basically. And what makes it hard to swallow in this instance is that someone producing BS like this is almost certainly in a milieu full of doctors, lawyers, engineers, designers, etc., all kinds of white collar jobs where you work over and get no money.
In the officer's defense, he may have yelled he's coming right for us as he shot the senior.
You sold a reverberating carbonizer with mutate capacity to an unlicensed cephalopoid...

Glasgow woman 'is 87th best attraction in city'
Ummm, "Glasgow" and "beautiful" shouldn't be used in the same sentence unless there is a negative qualifier in there somewhere.
Arizona Republicans today introduced a bill that would allow the state health department to conduct warrantless searches of abortion clinics.
What a pack of idiots. Abortion clinics are already regulatied by the DOH. It can go into them at any time for an "audit" or "survey" today, no search warrant needed.
Ah, well. Its not like the Arizona Republicans are in the habit of introducing bills that make no real difference by fan the flames of the culture war.
That's what I was thinking. Were abortion clinics previously exempt?
A California appeals court ruled that it's legal to use a cell phone while driving, so long as one doesn't actually talk on the phone.
Is listening to someone else talk to you considered "actually talking"?
These attempts to control distracted driving seem increasingly ridiculous.
Huffpo suggests, Every Woman Over 50 Should Practice Bisexuality:
If you're still not ready to make any sexual leaps, but want a caring touch, consider cuddle parties: http://www.cuddleparty.com. One participant said, "My experience at cuddle parties has blown the top off my ability to experience pleasure and intimacy in a safe environment with open, honest and warm people. It's given me the ability to make changes in my own way of thinking, making a big improvement in my other relationships."
I feel bad for the other people in those relationships of hers.
But, since the social acceptance of nice girls who own vibrators, the sexual need for men could become obsolete in the next decade or two.
Feel bad for us OM!
I'm a whore and loving it!
They should have been doing that at 19. With pillowfights.
With that crowd, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I had to stop the video: I was giggling too loudly.

Why does that only have 107,000 hits? What is wrong with people?
We just have to accept that most people are Philistines.
I swear I closed that blockquote tag.
Blame it on your cell phone.
Without comment but following on from the post about climate change causing rape:
http://www.universetoday.com/1.....port-says/
One fascinating statement from the article:
They are careful to include a caveat: "The evidence is clear. However, due to the nature of science, not every single detail is ever totally settled or completely certain. Nor has every pertinent question yet been answered." Areas of active debate include how much warming to expect in the future...
As opposed to the certainty flaunted for years and years by alarmists and their enablers in the media and Congress?
These fuckers just keep prattling on about this as we approach a second decade of NO WARMING and all the statistics show no increase in frequency or intensity of weather events. They are like used car salesmen who get caught in lie after lie and pretending it never happened so they can tell more.
, for when you really want to spend a lot of money for a Mercedes.
Bah. If I want full tilt crazy, I'll track down a Lamborghini LM002.

"Nicolas Anelka handed 5-match ban and fined for 'quenelle' gesture"
The reasons why get complicated quick. Who to blame = English FA league? Or French institutional state-racism prompting resentment and counter-racism against perceived 'zionist influences'? Or just douchebag footballers? ALL OF THEM? you quickly start *hating everyone*, and realize that what unites all the various elements of douchebag is the codified enforcement of "RightThink"/prosecuting offensiveness.
The actual 'review and punishment' here was done by the English football league, which most would consider 'meh' because its a private org. However, this is like the 3rd noted instance of this, and it has been prosecuted as a 'crime' in france which has 'hate speech' codes. As one guy noted - its a vicious cycle of speech-restriction and increasing resentment =
""When I go back to France it is like there are two parallel universes; a government that is widely perceived as incompetent, with a social situation that is like a powder keg..."Ultra-nationalism is on the rise and it has become completely acceptable to be openly anti-Semitic and to say that there is a global Zionist conspiracy.""
I find it odd that they call racist anti-statism by poor French minorities "ultra nationalism"
(please god don't let 'Murkin find this)
"Ultra-nationalism is on the rise and it has become completely acceptable to be openly anti-Semitic and to say that there is a global Zionist conspiracy.""
Ooh, ooh, don't skirt too close to the edges of actually having free speech, Frenchie.
I swear, their thoughtcrimes and criminalization of speech is what leads European nations to underground and violent movements. If you let the idiots speak in the open, their words more easily get drowned out and their bigotry is exposed. Keep them in the shadows at your own peril.
Well Sloopy, that is the very reason for freedom of speech, how the marketplace of ideas works. It is something they completely dont get. It aint just them, our own current White House resident doesnt get it either.
Soccer, France. Yeah - fuck all that shit.
Anelka is a trouble maker.
Maybe another 47 votes to repeal and the president will change his mind.
When did Reason ever oppose legislation that has no chance of passing?
What's the problem with Boehner again?
What's the deal with 24/7? Don't we already have AM/PM links?
Fewer options and less choice would fit well in America's present civic climate. I like it.
Fewer options and less choice
Seems that's what is happening with 24/7 updating the same "roundups" all the time.
"President Obama is launching an initiative called "My Brother's Keeper," which will focus on empowering underprivileged minority males"
Does no one else think this is possibly the most culturally tone-deaf thing Government has done since they started calling public housing program for the mentally ill "Section 8"*?
(*i.e. = the same name as the military designation for being "mentally unfit to serve")
If no one instantly makes the same connection - for anyone who has seen the movie, its a reference to young black men *becoming DRUG KINGPINS*=
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9UK03yV8oM
Actually, it's a biblical reference.
And by the way, I already made a Nino Brown comment today, so give it up!
MOTHERFUCKER I KNOW THAT
I'm just saying = in the context of "underprivileged minority males" (aka 'Black Dudes'), what do you think makes more fucking sense = Cain and Abel, or FUCKING NINO BROWN??
I'm just saying, its *retarded*.
Also, on the biblical level, I suspect this is even MORE epic fucking crazy nonsense retarded =
Cain *whacks* Abel, then lies about it. "none of my business! Is it my job to be watching over that punk?" God doesn't like backtalk so kicks Cain out of the house.
The implication is that there is an implicit social responsibility for the welfare of one another - NOT THAT WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN MESS?
Is the lesson Obama is trying to get across here is that black folks have been too busy killing one another and blaming shit on other people and denying responsibility? OR = that he's going to force everyone to engage in some kind of collective social-welfare program that reduces individuals responsibility for themselves and increases community reliance?
I don't know what the fuck the PR gurus were thinking with this one, but 1) I think Nino Brown is still the more relevant reference and 2) even if its not, it just gets MORE fucked up creepy when you start reflecting on what the suggested 'message' is supposed to be.
My guess is that neither Obama nor his PR people really thought this shit through.
That "my brother's keeper" passage in the bible is almost as misunderstood as the "can't yell fire in a crowded theatre" comment we hear so often from the left.
I fucking hate stupid people.
You almost seem surprised.
Creepy collectivist shit coupled with tone deafness and completely lacking in self awareness. How is this different from anything else he has done?

And the first shall be last, and the last first, so BIBLE THAT, bitch!
Don't make me smite you, gilmore. Oh, please don't make me fucking smite you!
Man, you can bring that smite shit all you want; I roll tight with Elisha, and motherfucker will put some she-bears up in your shit with a quickness, no doubt.

I still get a chuckle out of the "WTF" initiative.
Anybody want to place a wager on how the cops will spin the video somebody took of the cops beating her father to death?
FTA: Rodriguez told News 9 that police took her phone with the recording on it. Another family member provided News 9 with an audio recording she said was taken when that happened. The family hoped Luis would pull through, so they waited for news at the hospital.
Oh, they have the recording. Nevermind then.
They released the video. Of course, nothing has come of it, and nothing ever will.
They did? I can't find it anywhere.
Someone posted it here at Reason this week. I'll see if I can find it.
Here.
Thanks...I think.
I was wrong. Well I guess I can check "watch a snuff film" off of my bucket list.
Rain! Its raining!
Bitcoins from Heaven!
Wait, where are you?
Yuma, AZ.
Forgive me for getting excited. This is the first bit of rain this year and the first bit in around 6 months.
No, no. I'm in CA and we just went from sprinkling to a downpour that included one of my coworkers having to sprint, screaming, to get out of it. I was just surprised that yours was so closely timed.
Ha! Mine when from sprinkling to evaporating before it reaches the ground in about 5 minutes.
Sigh, it might rain harder later today.
Aren't you still in the 80s today?
Barely. The good stuff is North of the South end of the Salton Sea.
There was a Squall line almost 400 miles long that hit the SoCal coast this morning.

"Arizona Republicans today introduced a bill that would allow the state health department to conduct warrantless searches of abortion clinics. "
I'm so glad republicans are doing everything they can to remind independents why the KULTURWAR is so fucking important and why people should make sure not to vote for them in November because DERP if they do WAR ON WOMENS and MEXICANS and GAYS and BIG OIL WILL KEYSTONE THE ELECTIONS
The Stupid Party can't help themselves, GILMORE.
This is the GOP version of the Democrat dogs returning to their gun-control vomit.
I totally thought of that same comparison a few minutes ago. Spot on.
If they didn't come up with such ridiculous ideas they'd be like those insane libertarians.
Question:
How much would it cost to rebuild the Six Million Dollar man in today's dollars?
Six million Fed FunBux might buy you a few fingers these days.
According to Nucleus von Fission, $6, including tax!

So, not that good, huh?
Oh no! They've saved the life of a monster! He murdered and ATE his sibling in the womb. No telling what atrocities he'll try once he's able to walk.
I don't want to think about the Tooth Fairy will give the kid for that.
I believe that's called a Teratoma
And I do not recommend doing a google image search of that word.
That's what makes this case unusual. It's not a teratoma,it's a craniopharyngiomas.
Oh, one of *those*...
And here I felt like smart for 2 seconds because I knew the word for tumors with teeth in them. grumble grumble. Better luck next time!
How much would it cost to rebuild the Six Million Dollar man in today's dollars?
Tree fiddy.
Damn Loch Ness monster.
Anyway, the Lambo could only go 130 and took 7.8 seconds to get to 62 mph.
Lambo- brutally, viscerally beautiful, with normally aspirated LAMBORGHINI V-12.
Brabus- looks like a power station junction box.
"He's doing extremely well, all things considered," Beaty said. "This was a big tumor right in the center of his brain. Before the modern surgical era this child would not have survived," Beaty said.
Obamacare saved that little baby, you haters.
It's interesting. Have you guys noticed on liberal/prog sites the occasional person who says something to the effect "I used to be a libertarian when I was in college but then I matured and saw reality."
Which is interesting, not only in its bizarre Tonyesque logic, because for me it's been the exact opposite. I never was progressive but I tolerated their dumbass ideas because, well, I didn't know any better and it was accepted as an article of faith. Besides, teachers made sure to tell us young morons how compassionate their ideals were.
Nonetheless, as I aged, I thoroughly disengaged from all this. I listen to Obama talk vapid nonsense in his racist Brother thy stuff and it just leaves me numb.
but then I matured and saw reality
equals
but then my parents cut me off and I needed someone to pay for my shit without working me working for it
"Have you guys noticed on liberal/prog sites the occasional person who says something to the effect "I used to be a libertarian when I was in college but then I matured and saw reality.""
You mean the editorial department @ Salon that runs that story every 2-3 months?
I'm fairly convinced its a MoveOn.org ploy to spread these stories of 'libertarian conversion back into the progressive fold' amongst the internet commentariat to spread the idea of some kind of collective peer-pressure on Deh Yoots of Merica to give up their rebellious, Liberty Loving ways and accept their inevitable, cushy fate as a cog in the great progressive machine.
I'm actually not kidding. I genuinely believe most of that shit is sockpuppetry. Hardly any of it smells the slightest bit real, with 1 or 2 exceptions (there was a Buddhist guy who spun his tale of Libertarian conversion to Prog, but he struck me as an utterly sincere Loser who loved to be part of Clubs - and the progression from Club Libertoid to Club Prog was in fact nothing reflective of an evolving political maturity, but rather just an ongoing pattern of wanting to be "a Labeled-Something")
I've been fairly libertarian for a long time, but I've observed the same thing as you. A few years back I was talking to an elderly gentleman - well, an old guy, anyway - who said, "You only believe that because you are young."
It was extremely hard to restrain myself from responding, "And you only believe what you do because you are old." (The guy was an acquaintance of my mom, who was standing right there, so I felt being the more polite person was the best option.)
Libertarians: Too polite!
Actually, I tend to believe that those who swing con/lib are inherently more polite.
I was raised on a farm. What we took as an article of faith was "If you dont work, you dont eat.".
My youthful naivety was thinking that everyone thought that way.
Trying to cite the source of this (alleged) Hilary quote attributed to her:
"The average citizen will try to save money when it comes to choosing a health plan. We can't allow that. We know how to spend their money so much better than they do."
Any takers?
Have you guys noticed on liberal/prog sites the occasional person who says something to the effect "I used to be a libertarian when I was in college but then I matured and saw reality."
Yes, and that always jumps out at me, too.
Childish idealism fades every time you look at the "withholding" section of your paycheck. And when you start working for yourself, and begin to realize that the ten dollars you just made is really only six (and some idiot from the government is going to do something stupid with the other four), that old saying about free lunches starts to mean something.
Am I the only one who, after having seen Vikings last night, who regrets not being able to wear a deer hide? My muley doe's hide came two days ago from the tanner, and is sitting on the couch next to my seat in the hoke theater: I so wanted to send it out to have it made in to garb.
Next, you will start carrying your axe with you, feeling naked without it... then, you will increasingly feel compelled to set small huts/shacks on fire... you will get exited by the smell of fresh blood in the butcher section of the supermarket... your hair will get longer and longer and your will begin braiding it absent mindedly....
...yes, RAGNAROK IS COMING
Maybe it's the whiskey, but I laughed hard at your desire to wear deer hide.
My guess is that neither Obama nor his PR people really thought this shit through.
With this as your default assumption, you'll never be wrong.
From the no big name gay activists are critical of coercive lawsuits files: Andrew Sullivan
Whoops, how'd that get in there. If he keeps having opinions like this I might have to add him back to my RSS feed after a decade of ignoring him.
Wake me up when he jumps off the Obama bandwagon and apologies for going batshit insane over Palin.
Yeah, you might want to reconsider your position when you realize Andrew Sullivan thinks you're being intolerant and over-the-top.
He'd better be careful before he's blackballed by "the community."
What's the equivalent of an Uncle Tom for gays? Surely there's a term for a gay that's gone off the liberal plantation. As with blacks, leftists feel a sense of ownership of "the gay vote."
We really need to start thinking about the people othered by gender stereotypes and constrained by gender-driven names. And in that vein, the sexualityist, genderist term "Uncle Tom" should immediately be replaced by the more 21st Century-appropriate "parent-sibling Pat".
meh, I've come up with better.
I dunno...Aunt Mary?
I remember I had to stop reading one blog which had started off as mostly culture commentary because anytime politics came up the author referred to gay conservatives as kapos. I can't fathom how he didn't feel filthy every time he typed it out.
The centrist and apolitical gay internet community jarred really hard left during the Federal Marriage Amendment nonsense.
Aunt Fred
That's over the top. Report to mandatory sensitivity training immediately!
That was actually the name of a cat we had years ago. We always thought we had a male tabby and he somehow acquired the name "Uncle Fred." He surprised us by delivering several batches of kittens. We then had no choice but to change the name to Aunt Fred.
Dr. Girlfriend's family had a kitten named Molly once. It took a while for.anyone to notice it was actually female. We dubbed him "Mal-E" after that.
If Eddie and Bo are on Reason at the same time it's pretty much a lost cause it seems.
What if they started an abortion thread and no one came?
It would have been aborted?
If no one came, would there be an abortion thread to begin with?
Someone has to cum for an abortion.
A lot of guns are easily converted to automatic. So easy, in fact, that a certain piece of metal in a certain shape is illegal.

Tundra, I once made the mistake of making a simple comment based on my experiences in business on Huff and was told I wasn't a very good businessman.
Needless to say I deleted my Huff account. If that's the quality of people in their community then it ain't worth shit.
Hell, at one point, possessing a shoelace and certain firearms was considered verboten.
Well, I kinda think they'd be tied, douchiness-wise. Anyway, the Lambo could only go 130 and took 7.8 seconds to get to 62 mph.
There were 2 intense downpours that lasted about 5 minutes each, and one of them actually flooded my patio and street.
Liberal rain.
Should be sung like 'Chocolate Rain'.
Yeah, the proggie takes on life simply don't fit the reality. That's why they look to 'fix' it.
They're the great distortionists of our times!
And I'm like you, FTT. I started my business a little later than I wanted but my father was a small business owner. A tailor in fact and was successful. So I was exposed to business and what it's like to own properties.
My father always said the government is not your friend but also cautioned us to never fuck with it since it can fuck you worse. They always win in the end. Pay your taxes and shut up was his advice.
I digress.
There?
Where are you going FtT?
She was mostly screaming because it kicked up right when she got outside. It was brief, but her trip to get something from her car was VERY poorly timed.
Okay, when the Proggies have the proletariat all riled up and chasing you, would you rather drive a good looking Lambo with Italian reliability or the ugly Brabus with German reliability?
You ever sat in one of these? You'd better be under 5'10" if you want to fit.
Uhh...considering VW's and Mercedes' reliability since 2000, that's not a great selection...
Early forecasting suggests that it will be in the 70's by then.
Any thread with Bo in it is an abortion.
