Capital One Contract Update Permits Credit Company Reps to Visit Customers' Home, Work, Suppress or Use a Misleading Caller ID

Credit card issuer Capital One isn't shy about getting into customers' faces. The company recently sent a contract update to cardholders that makes clear it can drop by any time it pleases.

Just because Capital One says it can come to your house does not mean you have to let them in.

Anytime you answer the phone without knowing who is on the other line just tell them you are recording the call.

Most will hang up. Sometimes I get enough time to tell them how nice I am being, because I live in Texas I am not required by law to tell them I am recording.

I was once on a conference call with two attorneys and two other civilians. The bad guy's attorney asked if anyone minded if he recorded the call. One of our group quickly spoke up and said he minded. At the end of the call the other attorney hung up. The person who had objected to the recording informed our attorney that HE had recorded the call if he ever needed a copy of the conversation. I learned a lesson that day and have never forgotten it. LOL
