John Boehner: Republicans Ready to Work With President Obama on Areas They Agree
Four, specifically
Speaker John Boehner and other top House Republicans say they are willing to work with President Barack Obama on areas where they agree, saying it is "critical that we come together to advance the interests of the American people."
The effort is designed to counter Obama's State of the Union theme that he will use executive authority to launch initiatives if Congress doesn't cooperate. Republicans want to show that they will cooperate with Obama when their political and policy interests overlap with his, and that it is the Democratic-run Senate that is blocking legislative action.
