Brickbat: Repent, Sinner

Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mohamed has been convicted of apostasy by a Mauritanian court after publishing an article critical of Islam's founder. He reportedly will be given a chance to repent before sentencing. He potentially could receive a death sentence, though Mauritania has not sentenced anyone to death since the 1980s.

Chuckie, what are a few death sentences in Islamic countries compared to the terrible, awful horror suffered by womyn from the tyranny of evangelicals in fly-over America? How about some perspective?
"Durka durka! Mohammed! Jihad!"
Like most brickbats, the story may be two and a half weeks old but new to Charles Oliver. But at least Oliver has the decency not to try to recycle an old comment trhead to talk about it.
Or an old comment thread for that matter.
Initially I was shocked because I thought this was referring to Mauritius. I have to admit I had to look up Mauritania.
Bloody ignorant American.
(I had to look it up too)
Bloody ignorant European. :-p
(I'm realtively good at geography; I didn't have to look it up.)
OK, where are the Islets of Langerhans?
Up yours!
Correct. 😎
Don't feel bad. I spent a fair amount of time in the region and still looked it up.
I also thought it read as Mauritius, but given the demographic there I thought that strange and also saw the sspelling was different.
C'mon, didn't at least for a second you think it was Martian?
I feel like I should judge this culture.
Slavery, female genital mutilation, child labor, and human trafficking. Nice place.
Libertarian Paradise! !!!
But how are the beaches?
The law is the law. Mauritania: Love it or leave it. It would be even worse if his life was spared by jury nullification. Can't do the time, don't do the crime. If you don't like the law, then change it.
Did I miss anything, Law and Order "Libertarians"?
Don't invite Tulpa. Please.
It's Monday morning. He's to coward to come out and play in the disinfecting sunlight.
Ah yes. Last time he showed his face during the week I gave his fallacies such a lashing that I haven't seen him since.
Yes, "stop resisting!" "judicial procedures were followed"
hth
he was willing to pay 4,000 euros to anyone who killed the young author, unless he announced his repentance within three days."
Yet many who denounced the article were angered by the businessman's incitement to murder, saying it pushed society towards terrorism capitalism.
FTFY
When people talk about the need to protect the freedom not to be offended, I like to point out examples like this.
"Slavery, female genital mutilation, child labor, and human trafficking. Nice place." welcome to the Libertarian Paradise
