Chris Christie Created a Massive Traffic Jam on World's Busiest Bridge to Get Back at a Democrat Who Wouldn't Endorse Him, Private E-Mails Among Government Officials Suggest
Mayor of local town who wouldn't endorse him calls him a bully

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie may be more ready to be president than advertised. Christie had previously denied his office had anything to do with a massive traffic jam in Fort Lee caused by a lane closure on the George Washington Bridge, assigning responsibility to a "traffic study," but now emails sent from and to the personal accounts of various Christie officials in Trenton and the Port Authority suggest the lane closures were, indeed, retaliation. Fort Lee's Democrat mayor had previously declined to endorse Christie's re-election bid, unlike the forty-plus other local New Jersey Democrats who did. The endorsements helped Christie secure a landslide victory he will likely try to parlay into political capital for the 2016 presidential election.
The Bergen Record breaks the story:
The messages [obtained by the Record] are replete with references and insults to Fort Lee's mayor, who had failed to endorse Christie for re-election and they chronicle how local officials tried to reach the Port Authority in a vain effort to eliminate the paralyzing gridlock that overwhelmed his town of 35,000, which sits in the shadow of the bridge, the world's busiest…
"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," Bridget Anne Kelly, one of three deputies on Christie's senior staff, wrote to David Wildstein, a top Christie executive at the Port Authority, on Aug. 13, about three weeks before the closures. Wildstein, the official who ordered the closures and who resigned last month amid the escalating scandal, wrote back: "Got it."
Read the e-mails, via the Record, here (pdf).
Fort Lee's mayor, Mark Sokolich, told the Wall Street Journal he was now convinced he was being retaliated against: "This is the behavior of a bully in a schoolyard. It is the greatest example of political payback." The Journal also notes Sokolich is of Croatian ancestry even though one Christie official referred to him as a "little Serbian" in a message.
Christie is the leader some establishment Republicans, and at least one Obama campaign official, say their party needs.

"This is the behavior of a bully in a schoolyard. It is the greatest example of political payback."
First sentence is very likely true. The second, not even close.
I don't care about the name calling or "slurs". What I do care about is that, if true, this guy prevented 10s of thousands of people from getting to work, school, doctors appointments, etc etc. And they were stupid enough to use email to coordinate the effort. His campaign is over.
His campaign never started as far as I'm concerned. We should replace a guy who runs the country like Chicago with a guy who'll run it like New Jersey?
Different flavor of fail?
Gosh, is this enough to derail his candidacy? Or are we now just peachy with Chicago/New Jersey-style politics?
It might be. This could cost him LA. People here are so fucking pissed about all of Obama's "fundraising" trips to Hollywood and the Westside, or when he "swings by" to tape a late night talk show. Traffic is one thing people still get really pissed about.
This is sodalicious.
Lovin' the alt-text.
Seconded. That is gold.
Hey Fatboy, way to shit all over your own citizenry. Might we even suggest that was "coldhearted"?
And he did it knowing that he was already going to win by a landslide. It's reminiscent of Hillary lying for no discernible reason.
It's really reminiscent of the Watergate Scandal occurring during an election in which Nixon won 49 states, 61% of the vote and 520 electoral votes.
That too.
There's a perfectly discernible reason: "Fuck that guy."
Didn't Mark Halperin's book on the 2012 election have a section about Romney's team vetting Christie as a possible VP, and deciding he had way to much baggage to enter national politics? I know establishment Republican's are sick of losing, but if Christie wasn't good enough for veep what makes them think he's good enough for the Prez?
He really wants it badly. That's all that matters to him.
Yes it did. Basically Christie has a closet full of enemies he's made by being a hospital-grade douche.
He would be eviscerated in the primaries, so long as the media and other candidates did their job.
Hahahaha.
I don't know about the other candidates, but the media have two jobs dealing with Christie the bully and squish:
(1)whoop him up as an anti-tea-party candidate until he's nominated
(2)trash him from the day he's nominated until he concedes the election.
It is ever thus with Republicans.
Good riddance.
Sweet. Fuck.
I think there's a word for someone who would admit that. Over text, no less. And while moron fits, it's not the word I'm thinking of.
Insane with power?
That's three words, stupid.
Three individual words. Maybe he was thinking just the insane one.
Despicable cunt? Wait, that's 2 words.
Despicunt?
I was going for scumbag, you scumbags.
Corrupt? Shameless? Inhuman? Assbag?
I do not see Christie having much change of winning the GOP nomination. His best bet would be to run on a ticket with Bloomberg as an independent, with Bloomberg financing the venture. They would be natural running mates, I think.
I don't, either. This just helps.
Christie is not going to win the Presidency. Name me a President who wasn't thought of by the public as generally a nice guy? If you can't present yourself as a nice guy, you can't win. Doing that is doubly hard for Republicans since the media is so willing to lie. The media made Romney, who is by all amounts about the nicest man in the world, into some kind of uncaring robber baron to America. No way would someone like Christie, who seems to be a no kidding asshole that you wouldn't ever want to meet, win the Presidency as a Republican. Maybe as a Democrat with a friendly media to cover this kind of shit up. But no way as a Republican.
Teddy Roosevelt, maybe?
I'm no TR fan, of course, but he was a bad-ass.
tie goes to typo-free comment
but we was some sort of larger than life bad-ass.
Truly, a bad-ass he was. A master of bad-assery.
Oh, Andrew Jackson, definitely.
Andrew Jackson was loved by the people though. Old Hickory was seen as being on the people's side.
Why not dueling politicians?
The more politicians shooting each other, the better.
See, this is one reason we should have federal ballot initiatives, which allow us to amend the Constitution:
Amendment XXVIII
Section 1
Under penalty of death, no official, elected or appointed, of the Government of the United States, shall fail to kill another official, elected or appointed, of the Government of the United States during each calendar year in which he holds office.
Section 2
The People shall have power to enforce this article by any means necessary.
no possible way to know what you really meant when writing this amendment...like, what do you mean by "fail"? and what is qualified as "office"?. Our supreme court is set up so I can make this argument and they can pretend they do not know what you meant. PRECEDENT!!! It also doesn't say if the govt can make upwards of 55 exceptions....so that means the govt CAN make exceptions!!! DUH!!!! Stupid Bagger!!!
-Sir Arthur Conan Derp
Pretty good shooting. For a John Bull.
^^^This.
"If you can't present yourself as a nice guy, you can't win."
That is a good point. I am trying to think of one now. Were LBJ or Harry 'give 'em hell' Truman seen as nice by the public (granted, that was a ways back)?
Both LBJ and Truman were elevated to the presidency by deaths and only ever ran as incumbents.
That probably gave them a natural advantage.
Good point.
Those guys were seen as tough guys looking out for the little guy. And that brings up a fair point. If Christie could run as a populist and all of these stories are about him being an asshole to the political class, he might have a chance, especially in this political environment. In fact, a line of butthurt politicals whining about how Christie had been a big meanie would probably get him in in a landslide.
The problem is that that would only work if there wasn't a single good story of him stomping on a little person. I don't know. But I bet there are a few of those too. And once those came out, he would be done.
Fucking the little guy to fuck another politician is not going to help him, John. You know, like in this very story.
I don't mean fucking the little guy as collateral damage. I mean getting some house cleaner fired because his hotel room wasn't perfect or something like that.
Except that the victims of this weren't members of the political class, they were random people stuck in traffic as part of Christie's feud with their mayor.
If I were Christie's advisor I would think the best chance he has at getting into the White House is to run as a Perot-style, 'no-labels', independent with someone like Bloomberg, with his pitch being that he and Nanny Bloomberg have a history of eschewing labels and partisanship and pragmatically 'getting things done.' Focus on budget issues and play down social issues and go for that Perot type vote. That would have the advantage of fitting in with their Northeastern, 'good government' conservative style and tradition, and in a three way race could be a winner (stranger things as they say).
That is my fear is that he will try and run as an independent and let Hillary or Warren win the election with 39%.
I just had a new nightmare scenario: Huckabee-Santorum vs. Clinton-Cuomo vs. Christie-Bloomberg.
If that's it, we're just going to have to hijack the 2017 Reason Cruise and set up a new Seasteading nation.
Damnit Bo, way to crap all over the comments section. I just barfed in my mouth - and I had Wendy's chili for lunch.
A veritable smorgasbord of suckage. Don't see it happening, though. Well, either that or the LP wins in 2016.
Clinton and Cuomo are from the same state, so they can't run together without giving up New York's 29 EV.
Or Clinton could just carpet-bag her way to some other state.
Hillary would just move back to Arkansas, or Illinois, or Virginia, or anywhere necessary. Was she ever from NY when elected to the Senate?
Reagan was elected as a nice, but tough as nails, guy.
He also had the beta president running against him, so that didn't hurt.
Reagan was charming and funny when he wasn't making strong statements against communism and the welfare state.
I actually think a sense of humor is essential to humanizing a candidate. On that front I think Rand Paul does very well in comparison to the other blowhards in the GOP.
He also does well compared to Warren, Clinton, and Cuomo.
Do not forget Schweitzer and O'Malley.
Or rather, do forget them 😉
I don't think either Clinton or Warren is capable of expressing humor, let alone the self-effacing kind that people like in politicians.
This is why I think Paul has a real chance. Paul has a great sense of humor and a knack for sounding reasonable and making his critics look like kooks.
The genius of Reagan was that he came accross as such a funny nice guy in person that the worst things his enemies said about him, the less it stuck. People heard about this crazy war monger idiot actor who wanted to be President and nuke Russia. Then they turned on the Presidential debates and say this funny nice guy saying reasonable things. Reagan never stooped to his opponents' level or dignified their insane criticisms with a response. And that is why none of it ever stuck .
Paul has a great sense of humor and a knack for sounding reasonable and making his critics look like kooks.
I haven't seen much of that yet, but I haven't been looking either.
What Reagan had was charisma. So did Bubba, even though he was a ruthless scumbag.
A few weeks ago he turned his Twitter feed into a Festivus Airing of Grievances.
It was funny, informative, and he didn't shy away from poking fun at himself.
That's why I said that he had charisma. Self-deprication is part of that formula. You won't get far if the voters think that *you* think that you're above them, even though you do.
Still, why should he care at this point? He's out of office, loaded, largely free of the pants-suit, publicly reformed and yes we *do* miss him.
I think Serious Man meant Rand Paul turned his twitter feed into an airing of grievances JW, not Bill Clinton.
Ah, didn't pick up on that. Being tweetless, I missed it.
Yeah, I was referring to Paul. Slick Willie doesn't give a shit anymore, he knows Team Blue will always love and that's his only role, pumping up Team Blue.
I was also puzzled, since that didn't sound like something Bubba would do, unless he ran out of interns and got bored, sitting around Harlem.
Paul has also been wonderfully skilled at not only avoiding potential political mindfields which could trigger concern from social conservatives about his libertarianism, he has actually navigated it to his favor (for example when he spoke about non-interventionism in the context of not aiding forces that were killing Christians abroad).
"This is why I think Paul has a real chance."
Not if Matthew Freeney has a say. I'm sure he's got a few more hit-pieces coming down the pipe.
Sorry, but the Civil Rights Act thing killed any chance of him winning the presidency. It's not fair, but it's just the way it is. But to even be president Paul would have to win the Republican nomination and that will never happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably deluding themselves.
"But to even be president Paul would have to win the Republican nomination and that will never happen."
Actually, I think you might be wrong on this one for just the reason you say his chances are killed. With sexual preference being increasingly discussed as a protected class, Paul's misgivings about government bans of private discrimination are going to start looking awfully prescient to the socons.
"This is why I think Paul has a real chance. Paul has a great sense of humor and a knack for sounding reasonable and making his critics look like kooks."
Sort of the John Stossel of Republican politicians.
Does Obama have a sense of humor? Is it the one he displayed when mocking people asking him about letting up off the drug war now that he was elected?
Auditing his enemies is pretty funny, right? For him, I mean.
Did Jesus need a sense of humor? I didn't think so. So why would his black counterpart need one?
Humor is for mortals Episiarch.
You're a funny guy, John. I like you. That's why I'm going to kill you last.
Drones are his punch line.
Obama is the Messiah, any attempt at humor he makes will be eaten up by his acolytes.
Remember how the press swooned when he "slow-jammed" the news on SNL? Or how they swoon during his painfully awkward White House Press Correspondent speeches?
God, don't remind me. It was like living in an alternate universe where a dweeby moron like Barack Obama had apparently magically become hilarious.
The best was how people just assumed he was athletic because he's thin and black. It turns out he can't hit a jump shot.
I remember people shitting themselves when he did three pullups before a debate or campaign appearance or something. Disgraceful.
The press is not the voting public. Sure, the press swoons and it's incredibly pathetic. But painfully awkward humor doesn't work so well on people who aren't Kool-Ade swilling Beltway journalists.
Well, the voting public had no problem swooning in 2008 and following the lead of the Dem controlled press corp in 2012.
Obama's campaign material, speeches, and attitude were almost entirely humor-free (because he's terrible at it). Stuff like SNL was for his fellators, because even thought it was terrible, with them it doesn't matter, and he knows that.
"following the lead of the Dem controlled press corp in 2012."
Romney.
I think that says it all in retort Irish.
Romney was a terrible candidate who was nonetheless not a bad person. All of the ideas about Romney being evil were created by the press and people bought it.
I disagree, Romney helped a great deal. His '47%' comment was perhaps the most politically stupid thing said by a candidate running for national office. It alienated many voters and played right into the hands of those pushing the 'uncaring elitist' narrative about him.
"You didn't build that."
That ranked right up there, but it was earlier and the media did yoeman's work covering up for him. That said, Romney was a shitty candidate on so many levels.
Remember how the press swooned when he "slow-jammed" the news on SNL?
Almost like he wore boxers while playing the sax with Arsenio.
Me too. I'd vote for him.
Nixon
I'm using this story next time someone trots out "Roads!#s"
This kind of thing could never happen in Somalia.
I would tell Christie to go to the G.W. Bridge and jump off it, if I wasn't concerned that the ensuing tidal wave could wipe out half the city.
I wouldn't be upset with 1/2 of NYC getting wiped out.
Only if you get the half that includes Yankee Stadium. Otherwise it's just a waste of a great opportunity.
The GW is on the wrong side to be able to do that. Maybe if he jumped off the Macombs Dam Bridge.
Oh please sweet Jesus make him jump off the Newark Bay Bridge and submerge that festering shithole.
I have often said I think the best possible scenario for 2016 from the two big teams would be Rand Paul running against Ron Wyden. But it just occurred to me my worst might be Christie vs. Andrew Cuomo.
Wyden does not have the national name recognition to run.
Christie/Cuomo is also impossible. After this, Christie's presidential ambitions are over. There's no way Cuomo would beat Clinton or even Biden.
Cuomo would have the best First Lady ever in history.
Wyden is about to be chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
And what percentage of voters care who the chair of the Senate Finance Committee is?
none. sorry. I agree he's a nobody as far as national elections go ...but he'll be responsible for tax reform. so there's that.
"Wyden does not have the national name recognition to run."
I think this shows how sad the modern Democrat Party and liberal movement has become. If you think of old school liberal establishments like the ACLU then Wyden's fight against the NSA should make him a popular figure with the Left. Instead that role is best garnered these days by those willing to one-up each other in the area of blatant class warfare.
When was the time the Democrats ever elected a president who was against military interventionism and the surveillance state?
I guess possibly Carter whose presidency was derailed by his incompetence in other areas. Other than that, the left has always had people in Congress who were willing to stand up for civil liberties but never actually elevated them to the highest level.
Elected a President or a candidate? Candidate Obama was against military interventionism and surveillance, though President Obama has been for both.
Uh, no he wasn't. He was just against the "wrong kind of interventionism." You conveniently forget his "good war" shtick WRT Afghanistan in which he essentially pushed the Bush surge doctrine for that conflict.
Elizabeth Warren would, I think, be worse than Cuomo. She is just execrable.
No chance in hell of her even making past a few primaries. None. I have spoken.
They are the Silly Party. Remember that.
They want to win, too.
Never underestimate the democratic electorate's capacity to love humorless, power-mad shrews.
ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
I guess we sort of have to listen to the 2000 Year (more?) Old Man on this one. He has seen it all before.
Which is why she is destined to be the next president. I'm calling it now.
She's too dumb. She should've been less vocal, like Obama was before his first term.
Obama primed us for FULL DUMB in the Lizzie style, though. We're finally ready for a President who's a drooling imbecile. Unlike all the prev...wait, I mean...wait, what was I saying, again?
You know, our standards were already low, but we've gone lower than I thought possible. Warren might very well be a viable candidate if, say, we suffered some transition pains while President Paul tried to dismantle Leviathan.
Obama is fucking dumb too. Warren, as first female presidential candidate, would get the same reaction as Obama did as first black president. Fear this, because it is a real phenomenon: voting based on nothing but race or gender.
Just like the Supreme Court.
What if they get another black guy to run?
Not after this one. Remember, their latent racism applies in all cases. Black Guy Messiah has gone to Black Guy Lame Duck, therefore Black Guy bad.
Well, there's a flaw in your argument. Obama was half fucking white. What we need, clearly, is a fully black woman, with genetic testing this time to show that she's got no white blood.
how about Cherokee blood?
I agree. After this mess, the country will never vote for another black candidate in my lifetime. The liberals gave blacks their quota and will be just fine being racist again.
I think this is going to start a parade of 'firsts' as a political strategy for the Democrats, because they see Obama's candidacy as 'changing the game' by moving new voters into play, voters that they think will support openly liberal candidates like Obama, the kind they have been wanting to run but afraid to since McGovern. So we will get the 'elect the first woman' push, then first Hispanic, etc.
No other "first" Bo has the kind of history that the first black President does. People don't feel any kind of guilt towards women or hispanics or gays the way they do towards blacks.
If Hillary or Warren's only justification for being President is "its a woman's turn" they will never win. Forget it.
It will not be guilt, it will be the chance to 'make history.'
I actually agree with Bo here. "First [insert identity politics here] president" worked amazingly with Obama. They're going to go back to this well, and they can do it with several identity politics groups, like women, Hispanics, (eventually) gays, and anything else they can think of (Samoan?). They're not terribly bright, and like they say, you're always fighting the last war. They won the last war with this stuff; they're going to try it again.
"and anything else they can think of (Samoan?)"
Manti Te'o for President, coming to you in 2024.
Bo,
Manti: Samoan and gay. Two birds with one stone.
The problem then becomes that the Dems lose out on a "first" rather than having a separate gay candidate and a separate Samoan.
Therefore, the best thing that the Repubs can hope for, so as to deny the Dems two separate candidates and two "firsts", is that Rachel Maddow is the Dems candidate: Woman and gay. Maddow 2016!
Manti is gay? I thought he thought he had a girlfriend?
They will go back Epi, but it won't work as well. People don't give a shit about "history" with women in the same way they do with blacks. Think of it this way, look how hard the media tries to make celebrities out of women doing things in sports and still no one really cares. Who is a bigger deal, Billy Jean King or Jackie Robinson? Not even close. That is because most of the country just doesn't care about women's issues the way they do race relations.
And more importantly, women, unlike blacks, are not politically united and don't feel the need to vote for other women. How many women who would otherwise be independent or vote Republicans would vote for Hillary to "make history"? None. The only people who would vote for them to make history are the same boomer hags who vote Dem every election anyway.
Maybe a real black guy? One that's not half Hawaiian?
The thing with Warren is that she knows how to press all the proglodyte hot buttons and has no shame in doing it. And they fucking eat it up. She promises to punish all the right enemies.
The problem is that she'd have to win over the more moderate Democratic voters. I don't see that. People still delude themselves that Obama is a moderate and really did that the first time around, but there's no way she'll even try to position herself that way. She's a loon.
You guys are missing the elephant in the room.
The next president will be our first gay president.
If I managed Clinton--and perhaps I will for enough money--I'd push her hard to come out. Regardless, of course, of whether she's a lesbian or not.
Regardless, of course, of whether she's a lesbian or not.
"Hell yeah, I'm a bull dyke with a personal debt that needs to be paid. Do you think I could have put up with Bill's shit for all those years, otherwise?"
Rumor is JW that Obama checked that block too.
What do you mean next?
James Buchanan says "haaaaay!"
Obama is just as much of a Prog as Warren. He was able to get elected because he made himself into this blank slate that people projected onto. It is much harder for a woman to do that. Women are judge by their looks more than men. If you are good looking like Palin, other women hate you for it and they portray you as stupid. If you are old and homely like Warren or Hillary, people are going to see you as the evil mother inlaw or school marm. Women are never black slates the way men are.
For that reason a woman hard core prog like Warren will never get elected the way Obama did.
For that reason a woman hard core prog like Warren will never get elected the way Obama did.
There's a lot of moist panties out there at the prospect of a Hillary run. They can't wait for her to run.
She''s a tough call. She has as many negatives working against her as she does positives in her favor, in the mind of the average idiot voter.
Here is the thing JW, how many of those women who are excited for Hillary are anything but hard core Democratic voters?
To win she has to appeal to more than that. And maybe she can. But she is going to need more than "I am the first woman" to do it.
Here is the thing JW, how many of those women who are excited for Hillary are anything but hard core Democratic voters?
Oh, I know that. But, if the Dems can't rustle up someone better with a pulse, she may be the candidate in the end. I don't think she'll win a general election, but I'd rather not have to take that chance in the first place.
One thing is for certain: whoever wins will be scummier and shittier than the last president.
Hillary will get the hardcore Dems, but will also get the people that want to vote for the first woman pres. She may also get a number of votes from people that look fondly on the Bill Clinton years. She could (*barf*) compete.
It took that dumb bitch, what, six years to pay off her campaign debt? Money she owed to small businesses and possibly campaign staff. Rake her incompetent ass over the coals. And the constant assault she will face over her "ready for that 3am call" statement's similarities to what happened in Benghazi...
I want her to run, just to watch the flustered implosion and resultant mental breakdown that will follow. She couldn't even handle Rand's questioning at the hearing without losing her composure.
Obama was an unknown, even though there was stuff that was knowable, if there had been more investigation into his background. I'm not quite sure I understand, even now, why people voted for him again, though the reason had a lot more to do with people who didn't vote than with people who did.
Part of the reason he got away with that Pro is that Republicans were afraid of being called racists. I don't think they will have that fear with Hillary or Warren.
Women are never black slates the way men are.
Awesome typo.
What do you have against The Rock?
I have a new friend, female, who worships at her feet. She is a good looking skirt and reasonably friendly and may dig me, so I have not yet unloaded on her about that cunt. But one slip-up from this broad and the first thing I will do is mention Warren's insanity and punchable face.
Don't look at me. I'm doing my best to convince Kali Muscle to run.
It's a damn shame that something like this could create the perception he's nothing but a thin skinned megalomaniac.
Well, at least there's part of him that's thin.
Curse your speedy Celtic fingers!
When we know he is a blubber skinned megalomaniac!
Or are we now just peachy with Chicago/New Jersey-style politics?
It's how things get done!
Fort Lee's mayor, Mark Sokolich, told the Wall Street Journal he was now convinced he was being retaliated against: "This is the behavior of a bully in a schoolyard. It is the greatest example of political payback."
Christie agreed, and went on to say that "I think one thing that you have seen is across the board everybody believes what happened is an outrage" and promised to do everything in his power to fix it.
"Listen guys, no more political revenge in writing. Are you fucking morons?"
When Christie chews your ass it's going to take a while, because he savors every bite.
Bullshit. You don't get to be that size if you spend a lot of time savoring.
You are in error. Cows chew their cud.
Was that Christie, or the Lightworker talking about the outrageous IRS goings on?
While Christie is a douche, it's still frustrating that if it came down to Christie vs. Hillary, Christie's traffic-gate would be presented as a far greater crime than Benghazi.
Good news. Carolyn McCrathy (D-Barrel Shroud) is retiring.
Fuck yeah!
If you don't know why this is awesome, look up the phrase "shoulder thing that goes up".
It's Tucker Carlson's one contribution to journalism.

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Recently, an eminent, varied, large, and unlikely delegation of Americans, led by the Reverend Al Sharpton, went to Africa to heal a wounded continent. They took the whitest man in America with them.
Still reading the article, but damned if that isn't one of the most fascinating things I've read in ages. The arrogance of those fuckers.
I had a minor obsession with Sharpton for awhile. This article explaining how he couldn't pay the Tawana Brawley hoax judgement because he only owns a watch and wedding ring is my still my favorite.
''There is an office there,'' Mr. Sharpton said of his house. ''But when you walk in the door, you are not walking into the office. But nor are you walking into my living quarters, either.''
I'll just leave this here. Make sure to watch to the end. 🙂
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhNkIsP59pM
This story is currently the lead one at the Washington Post and NYT sites, so it looks like it is going to get some play in the 'MSM'.
Good-bye, Christie (at least on the national stage!)
I wouldn't write him off that easy. No one reads those rags. And having the WAPO and NYT say bad things about him will hardly hurt him with GOP voters. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Christie didn't plant this story in hopes of getting the GOP base to like him more because they hate his enemies.
At the very least what gets top billing in those papers usually gets discussed by many other venues.
Awww, aren't you cute, you little naive puppy, you.
I'm with John, this could actually end up helping him. Republican primary voters may be in the mood for somebody who plays hardball, after losses by McCain and Romney.
No one is going to care about this after this week.
No tempest, no teapot.
Don't know if this has been posted yet...
Illinois has more conceal carry permit applications than obamacare sign-ups.
I'm shocked that anybody thinks this is going to derail anything about Christie's campaign. He's going to blame the staff members, everyone will fall for that, and that'll be the end of it.
Christie could say he just learned about it by reading the paper and is appalled. The right wing chuckles at his cleverness and forgets his odiousness, and the left seethes, further charming the right.
Yes, and when they won't drop it, he can say, "What difference, at this point, does it make?"
+1 Fake scandal
Personally I find the idea of him parroting back Obama and Shrillary's IRS/ Benghazi excuses and obfuscations frickin' hilarious. It might slightly improve my opinion of him. Not enough to consider voting him in 2016, but a little.
Which is why she [Elizabeth Warren] is destined to be the next president. I'm calling it now.
Another prophesy fulfilled:
"As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
If the lane closure was Chris Christie's retaliation it certainly was a poor one. For retaliation to work it must be obvious to the victim why the act of retaliation is occurring. This is not the case here.
Which makes it worse. It's revenge solely for revenge's sake.
The best retaliation would be known to the primary target only. If the Mayor knew or suspected he was the target, but no one else knew the governor was behind it, that would be about perfect from the governor's perspective.
They should totally change their town's name to Teabag. If I lived in NJ I'm sure I would have already vandalized their welcome sign at the city limits to say "Welcome to Teabag."
In fact, any Jersey folks here? You should totally make this happen.
Do any of those email addresses belong to Christie himself or was he cc'd on any of them? If not, then I'm sure this will be explained away as the actions of "rogue officials." Also, if Christie was smart enough to give himself that kind of plausible deniability, then it sounds like he's ready to be president. If not, then what a moron.
Oh, and either way, fuck that fat piece of shit.
How did the Bergen Record get copies of private emails/texts?
Fuck Christy, but who got private messages and provided them to the media? How could private texts even be accessed?
If true, pretty nasty and mean-spirited, not to mention just plain stupid.
And, it is the kind of thing that kills ones chances of getting elected.
However...your President drone kills children in countries at which you are not at war. And, nobody seems to be too upset at this.
Am I the only one who sees a disconnect here?
Projection defines you so perfectly, obsessive psycho moron. But you keep on pretending that obsessively stalking a site that banned your ass for griefing and after you stupidly got caught leaving your name in a posted URL and after being banned again and again and again yet still coming back with new handle after new handle isn't obsessive. No, everyone else is obsessive. Projection: it's what's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
"In clinical terms, you're a loon."
