Cherokee County, NC Allows Employees To Take Guns To Work
Still won't be allowed in schools, the courthouse, or the jail
MURPHY -- Cherokee County leaders are taking North Carolina's expansion of gun rights a step further by allowing legal concealed weapons in most all county offices.
Anyone, including county employees, may carry a concealed handgun with the proper permit.
Guns are still prohibited inside the courthouse, schools and the jail, said David Wood, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.
But in offices ranging from the social services to the tax appraiser, they will be allowed, he said.

Unless an area can be assured to be gun-free by means of metal detectors or pat-downs, it makes no sense to install a gun ban. The perps are guaranteed a low-resistance response. Hence VA Tech, Columbine, Sandy Hook, etc.
While I think it's great that some lawfully armed citizens are now allowed to carry their guns in county buildings/offices (if they have a CHP), I feel discriminated against since I choose to carry my handgun openly. What is the mindset of the county commission that determines concealed carry is acceptable and open carry is not? You are basically telling those of us who opt not to obtain a CHP that we cannot be trusted.
