Texas Man Fights to Let Pregnant, Brain Dead Wife Die
She's forced onto life support until baby can be delivered
If anything ever happened to his wife Marlise, Erick Munoz says, she would never have wanted to be kept on life support. But the worst did happen, and since the tragic incident in November that left the 33-year-old woman brain dead, that's exactly what he's had to do.
Marlise, from Tarrant County, Texas, was entering her second trimester of pregnancy when she collapsed suddenly after a suspected pulmonary embolism on November 26, and has been in the hospital on life support ever since. Texas state law dictates that she must be kept alive, even if it goes against her wishes, until the baby can be delivered.
