"Duck Dynasty" Family: Not Coming Back Without Phil Robertson

Say the comments he was suspended for are a reflection of their faith

The "Duck Dynasty" family issued a statement Thursday evening supporting patriarch Phil Robertson and throwing the future of their successful hit reality show into jeopardy.

The A&E cable channel has put patriarch Phil Robertson, 67, on "indefinite" hiatus from filming after anti-gay remarks he made in the January issue of GQ erupted into debate about free speech.

"Anti-gay" remarks? As I understand it, ol' Phil was sharing the Gospel--recommending that people of all persuasions put faith in Christ so that they can avoid eternal death.

"Trying to keep people from experiencing eternal death" != "anti-gay".

Phil Robertson is actually the most pro-gay person in this whole kerfuffle.

Phil just imagines a world in which gays and others will burn in a lake of fire for eternity and then imagines a magical way out.

It's actually a hilarious joke that shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone.

I don't think anyone cares that he said it was a sin. It was saying that two adults engaging in consensual behavior was the same thing or the same category as raping animals. And while he is perfectly within his legal rights to say that his employer should be free to decide if they want to continue working with someone who made such a public statement representing the show and the network.

This doesn't mean that all of these items are avocadoes. It means that all of these items are groceries. That's how basic english sentence construction works. It's called reading comprehension.

When someone is asked "What is sinful behavior" and they answer something like this: "Homosexuality, bestiality, adultery, fornication" it means that all of these things are sinful behavior, not that they are equivilent sexual acts.

It sure is wonderful to see that many of the reason posters are just as or more ignorant and intolerant than the people they claim are the bigoted and intolerant Christians.

Many people think that Mr. Robertson equated homosexuality with bestiality. You are correct that he did not.

I think that people with an axe to grind are grasping at straws here and trying to make his statements more dramatic than what they really were.
