Elizabeth Warren Wants to Prohibit Credit Checks of Job Applicants
This is the federal government's business why?
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Tuesday proposed legislation to prevent companies from using a person's credit history as a factor in the hiring process, a practice that Warren says makes it harder for poor people to land a job.
"A bad credit rating is far more often the result of unexpected medical costs, unemployment, economic downturns, or other bad breaks than it is a reflection on an individual's character or abilities," Warren said. "Families have not fully recovered from the 2008 financial crisis, and too many Americans are still searching for jobs.

Business as usual. Fixing shit that isn't broken.
I am lucky to have good credit but I realize that but for the grace of god there go I. I wholeheartedly agree with this. You should get or not get a job based on your abilities and performance not if you got sick without good insurance or someone stole your identity.
I also think that there should be a limit as to how long that a minor offence (especially one that is now legal) should show up on your background check. This is creating a huge underclass of citizens that just had bad luck and made a few minor supid decitions.
