FCC Broadcast Spectrum Auction Delayed

Pushed to mid-2105

|

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler contends it's better to do things right than to do them fast when it comes to a critical airwaves auction — especially on the tech side of things.

As head of the Federal Communications Commission, Wheeler announced Friday in a blog post that he plans to have the commission conduct the complicated two-sided broadcast incentive auction in mid-2015, pushing back the agency's self-imposed deadline for the sale at least six months. And although the chairman didn't mention the administration's HealthCare.gov stumbles directly, he made it clear that technology needs to be precise to make things work.
