Prosecutors to Announce Decision in Detroit Porch Shooting Case
Will homeowner face charges for killing woman who came to his home seeking help?
Prosecutors are planning to announce whether they'll charge a suburban Detroit homeowner in the shooting death of a 19-year-old woman on his porch.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office scheduled a news conference for Friday in Detroit. Prosecutors said earlier this week that they were reviewing evidence related to the death of Renisha McBride.
The young woman was shot in the face outside a home in Dearborn Heights early on Nov. 2. Police believe McBride was involved in a nearby car accident, and her family says she likely approached the man's home seeking help.
