    President Obama held a breakfast at the White House for select veterans and their families for Veterans' Day  and called for a renewed commitment to veterans coming back from Afghanistan. The chief of the New York City food bank estimates 40 percent of the city's veterans need food assistance. French President Francois Hollande, meanwhile, was booed by protestors while laying a wreath at the tomb of an unknown soldier.

  • John McCain says he's been encouraged to run for president again in 2016, but acknowledges that "the people have spoken" on that matter.
  • An attorney for the federal judge who ruled the NYPD's stop and frisk program unconstitutional accuses New York City of waging a campaign of "character assassination" against her. An appeals court has vacated her recommendations for reform and questioned her impartiality in the case.
  • The number of foreign students attending college in America has hit an all-time high.
  • A fire at a New York factory has reportedly created a nationwide shortage of knishes.
  • Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incongito insists reporting about his harassment of rookie offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has been misleading, and offered texts that purport to show Martin telling him he didn't blame the team for the environment in the locker room.
  • Social media use by reporters will be heavily restricted in the Winter Olympics in Russia next year. Journalists will reportedly be kicked out for taking photos or videos with "nonprofessional equipment."
