Eurozone Unemployment Rate Steady at 12 Percent

Hit a record high over the summer

The Eurozone unemployment rate held steady below a record high in August in a sign that the labor market is improving slightly as firms plan recruiting to meet a recovery in demand.

The unemployment rate was 12 percent of the labor force for the second consecutive month in August, figures published by Eurostat showed Tuesday. The rate for July was revised down from a record 12.1 percent.
