Assad Says Syria Has the Weapons Necessary To "Blind" Israel

DAMASCUS, Syria, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Syrian President Bashar Assad said U.S. policy is based on "fabrications and lies" and again denied he ordered the use of chemical weapons against his people.
In a lengthy interview with the Venezuelan network TelSUR Wednesday, Assad said he is not confident Syrian cooperation in an investigation of the August chemical attack on Damascus' suburbs will head off a U.S. military strike.
