Georgia Congressman Overheard Complaining About $172,000 Salary Being Too Low
Phil Gingrey's also running for senate
In remarks potentially reinforcing signs of a divide between members of Congress and the average American, Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., was reportedly overheard lamenting his six-figure congressional salary.
According to the National Review Online, Gingrey's remarks came as a group of congressional Republicans met in the Capitol basement regarding lawmakers and their staff receiving special treatment under the healthcare reform law.

Gingrey is prone to say foolish things, but I think he really did say this with a sarcastic tone when making a larger point.
Legislators should be paid the median wage of their home state - including those people not currently employed in the calculations.
Canadian Senator Mike Duffy publicly complained of his $132 000 salary.
