New York Judge Beaten With Toilet Tank Lid Outside Court
Currently hospitalized
CNY Central has confirmed that Waterloo Village Judge Roger W. Barto has been hospitalized since Saturday after being attacked outside the Village Hall.
According Waterloo Judge Dean Mattoon, Barto was attacked as he was locking up the building at 10:00 p.m. Saturday night.
Mattoon says Barto had just completed an arraignment, but he does not feel the assault was related to the arraignment.
Mattoon says Barto was struck on the head from behind with the lid of a toilet tank that had been placed outside the building during renovations. Mattoon says Barto was also choked by his assailant.
