Russia has ban on "insulting representatives of authority"

Russian police raided an avant-garde gallery late Monday and seized four paintings that satirize the country's conservative rulers, including a portrait of President Vladimir Putin wearing a pink-and-white slip.

The seizure comes a week before Putin hosts world leaders at the Group of 20 summit in St. Petersburg.

Police said the paintings, which had been on display at the Museum of Power in St. Petersburg the past two weeks, might "violate existing legislation," although no specifics were given, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.
