Iran's Parliament To Debate Suing US Over 1953 Coup

Tomorrow Iranian lawmakers will begin to debate a bill that seeks to sue the U.S. for its role in the 1953 coup that overthrew Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh.
Recently declassified documents offer more details of the CIA's role in the coup, which resulted in the Shah being restored to power.
From the AP:
Iran's parliament has approved fast tracking debate on a bill that seeks to sue the U.S. for its involvement in the 1953 coup that overthrew the country's democratically elected prime minister.
Lawmakers will begin deliberations Wednesday over how to launch a formal complaint accusing the U.S. government of intervening in Iran's internal affairs and inflicting damages on the Persian state. The 290-seat house approved the urgent debate of the bill Tuesday in a session broadcast on state radio.

Good fucking luck with that!
Yeah, statute of limitations and all...
Wait, what?
It's not like we gave them blankets with smallpox.
We never gave anyone blankets with smallpox. Placebo "treatments" for syphillis are more the American Way.
Well, the Progressive way. Remind me again why anyone would want to associate themselves with that movement?!
If you read up on the history of the Tuskeegee experiments, there weren't any effective treatments available at the time (aside from administering painful spinal taps), and the people involved were asymptomatic anyway.
They deliberately infected people with disease, and denied them access to even what small comfort real care could have provided. There's no way to argue that away.
If not for the Shah, the Islamists wouldn't be in power, so the Islamists want to sue us for setting the stage for their takeover? I mean if Iran had a tradition of free and open elections dating back to the 40s and 50s, the youth of 79 wouldn't have turned to the hardliners for change.
What about the 1941 invasion that put the Shah in power? Churchill and Eden were involved with that too.
Those Iranians! What a bunch of cut ups! Fun bunch.

My Saxon ancestors where stripped of their land and forced into serfdom by the Normans. Can you help?
Reparations bitchez.
Interesting that they aren't suing MI6, the mobs who actually threw out Mossi, or the clerics who approved of throwing him out.
Also the heirs and assigns of Kermit Roosevelt while they're at it.
How about Kermit the Frog?
But if they file a lawsuit to get rich off of past grievances, won't they be stooping to the level of Americans?
Ok, so does that mean the Brits can sue for recovery of their oil assets ?
