Sheriff's Deputy Fatally Shoots Man With Air Rifle in Florida
Three people called 911 after seeing the man carrying the rifle in a bag
Three alert passers-by called Broward 911 operators July 31 when they saw a man strolling along a sidewalk in Oakland Park with a rifle in a plastic bag.
Minutes later, a Broward Sheriff's deputy would shoot and fatally wound Jermaine McBean, 33, after Sheriff Scott Israel said McBean ignored orders to drop the weapon and instead raised it toward deputies.
It happened around 4 p.m. near a swimming pool in the Green Tree apartment complex, in the 5200 block of North Dixie Highway.
