Someone should fuck with them by just showing up naked.

"Hey, I was planning on wearing a bikini, but..."

    1. Robert   12 years ago

That was seriously how I understood the story at 1st from the summary here, that it was mandating nudity. I have this penchant for misunderstanding these things.

  2. Pope Jimbo   12 years ago

What is that on the sign? Graffiti? Or is it a lame attempt to draw the strings on the sides of the bikini bottom?

Of course, being in Italy it could be pubes poking out the bottom.

      Ask Fran?

  3. Fist of Etiquette   12 years ago

The one ban I support is on banana hammocks.

Why do you hate overweight, 50 something Germans?

      1. Fist of Etiquette   12 years ago

I'll allow them in a diving competition or possibly grandfathered in at a swim meet, if they haven't switched to technical suits yet.

"Per favore, Signora, remove your blouse and skirt. Hmm, si -- Bikini!"

The article doesn't make it clear whether the Mayor is going Bloomberg in response to a few isolated complaints, or if he is responding to widespread discontent from his constituents. The former is all too common, but I wouldn't have anywhere near the same reaction to the latter. People should be able to , broadly, decide what is appropriate public behavior in their own town.

Of course it would be more in line with my principles if they enforced that with a widespread "People in swimsuits will be ignored" campaign, but Europeans frequently don't think that way. Also, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that there is some Euro-bureauweeie rule against sic h a grassroots shaming campaign.

I'm guessing a couple of nuns and some ugly fat girls who are tired of their boyfriends ogling the hotties.

  6. HazelMeade   12 years ago

It's a nude beach, then, I take it?

  7. Bean Counter   12 years ago

The proper response would be for a dark skinned woman with big boobs to wear a see-through white mesh 1 piece suit to the mayor's office, parading through the center of town on the way. Definitely not a bikini!!

  8. Bean Counter   12 years ago

Imposing a dress code on a south Italian coast tourist trap.....what could possibly go wrong? Not to mention: 500 Euros???? That's like $600 or $700 in real fake money!

    1. Finrod   12 years ago

You'd think they didn't want tourists or their money.

  9. Finrod   12 years ago

Joke's on them, I added a line to the wikipedia page for Lipari. Their foolishness is now documented for all to see.

  10. Live Free or Diet   12 years ago

And it involves taking off her bikini?
