John Boehner explains something observers of Washington should all already know, but sadly don't.

From CBS News:

House Speaker John Boehner says Congress "should not be judged on how many new laws we create" but on "how many laws … we repeal."

The Ohio Republican's remarks were part of an interview that aired Sunday on CBS' Face the Nation in which he was asked why Congress had accomplished so little.

The country already has "more laws than the administration ever could enforce," Boehner said.

  1. Something tells me he does not mean what he says.

    1. Yeah, it’d be nice if Republicans actually acted on their alleged small government beliefs in stead of just blowing air.

      1. They had no problem passing a farm bill bloated with handouts a few weeks ago. And he has the nerve to say something like this? Fine, John, I will happily judge you on this, but you may not like my findings.

  2. tough talk from such a crybaby.

    1. You might cry if everyone thought you were Snooki’s dad, too

  3. Heard this on the radio this AM and almost drove off the road from laughing so hard.

    lulz, Boner – good one!

    What a fucktard.

  4. I would say that these days most federal statutes passed include repealer provisions or at least strikethru language, because they’re substituting new language for old in the consolidated code.

  5. Very few people are affected (arrested) by the massive amount of laws on the books, so they have no interest in repealing bad laws. They watch cop shows and think there are too few laws and too many protections for those damn criminals that hire slick lawyers to get them off.

  6. So, we should judge Boner a failure? K, got it.

  7. *starts to tear up* “There’s just too many laws……too many.” *sighs*

  8. Rather than criticize, I will simply state that this is probably one of the most intelligent things that Boehner has ever said. Consider how many people in DC would never say this.

  9. Never thought I would agree with Boehner on something!

But it’s not “more laws than the Administration can enforce”, it’s “more laws than any society has ever had, and more laws than anyone really ever needed.”

  10. Congress actually has a procedure for repealing a law? Who knew?
