Turkish Protesters, Police Again Clash as Park is Reopened

The issues haven't gone away

Turkish police have fired tear gas and water cannon at people trying to enter an Istanbul park that was the focus of last month's anti-government protests.

Istanbul's governor earlier reopened Gezi Park, next to Taksim Square, but closed it again after protest leaders called a rally for Monday evening.

On 15 June, police ejected people who had been occupying the park in protest at plans for its redevelopment.
