Top Louisiana Democrat: Race the Motivating Factor in Opposition to ObamaCare
Not the costs or the bureaucracy?

Someone should tell State Senator Karen Peterson that Obamacare passed more than three years ago and there's plenty of reasons to oppose it that have nothing to do with not liking Barack Obama.
State Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, who is also chairwoman of the state Democratic Party, repeatedly invoked race as she railed against ObamaCare critics.
"I have talked to so many members both in the House and the Senate, and you know what? You ready? You ready? What it comes down to? It's not about how many federal dollars we can receive, it's not about that. You ready? It's about race," she said. "I know nobody wants to talk about that. It's about the race of this African-American president."
She tried to argue that because former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- who is white -- offered a "similar" overhaul in the past, the criticism this time "comes down to the race of the president of the United States which causes people to disconnect and step away from the substance of the bill."
It was Nancy Pelosi, noted Democrat and white person, who said the Congress had to pass the bill to find out what was in it (and presumably just trust the president until then). Now that the "unintended consequences" Obamacare critics warned about are becoming apparent even to Obamacare backers, support for the already polarizing law is falling. Blaming racism is so 2009, and as idiotic now as it was then.

It's absolutely true. The anti-marathon, pro-sprint running coalition in the Tea Party has gone too far this time.
I didn't know Don Imus and Jimmy the Greek were in the Tea Party.
That woman sounds like a female Geraldo Rivera.
Well the Tea Party is clearly anti-marathon. Teabaggers did, as I'm sure you'll recall, bomb the one in Boston. (I think I learned that on MSNBC.)
Now that rings a bell. Didn't some racist anti-Obama guy try to bomb all the people of color in Times Square?
State Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, who is also chairwoman of the state Democratic Party-
Stop right there.
Why are thrice named ladies always insufferable harpies?
SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR BEGS TO DIFFER.
Exception that proves the rule.
I never really took a good look at her before, but...wow.
She was great in Cruel Intentions. Although I'm having a hard time thinking of the best scene. It's a tie between her making out with Selma Blair and Selma Blair making out with her.
I'm pretty sure it was her making out with Reese Witherspoon. Wait...that didn't happen?
I think the big story is that she's a young celebrity who married another young celebrity after they met while filming a teen horror genre movie and they're still together after 11 years of marriage.
That's downright stunning.
I don't know if Jennifer Love Hewitt is an insufferable harpy, nor do I care.
Counterexample with two indisputable well rounded points.
I count four well rounded points, myself...
Apparently she had three names in Party of Five.
You ready?
No, I'm really not. Try me again some other time. Maybe in about four years or so.
Y'all ready for this?
Going that extra effort to find a video with Space Jam cover art was a nice touch.
You weren't ready for it, were you?
Have you seen this? Have you heard about this?
Wow, what a terrific audience.
I personally think that the opposition to Obamacare comes from people who don't appreciate the biblical law of the new Moses.
The New Moses is also the name of the Jewish alt-rock band me and my friends in college never formed.
THOSE WHO WILL NOT LIVE BY THE LAW SHALL DIE BY THE LAW!
Coming soon to a state near you!
I don't think our police, bureaucrats, and politicians would like that very much.
They'd be fine with it, because as we all know, laws do not apply to those who make or enforce them.
And that's the name of The New Moses' promising but ultimately mediocre sophmore album.
Two men enter, one man leaves.

BREAK A DEAL, FACE THE WHEEL.
I watched that and I can't for the life of me figure out what Dyson is trying to say. Is he saying that it should be illegal to leak classified info, or is he saying that it shouldn't be illegal?
Also Martin Bashir is the worst.
He's arguing that since he believes it should be illegal for the press to leak classified info, what Eric Holder did is totally okay.
In other words, what the law actually is doesn't matter. All that matters is what the law should be, and if you break a law you don't like, it's totally okay. He's arguing for the abolition of the rule of law. He basically thinks a dictatorship would be alright.
He's saying that Holder is the bearer of the law, and if he says something is unlawful, it's unlawful. Of course, that's actually Congress's job, and Holder has said to Congress that he doesn't think reporting on a leak is a prosecutable offense (while acting to the contrary); but Dyson knows better than to think this is a government of laws. He knows it's a government of men, and now he's admitting it.
I burned a lowercase t on the White House lawn to send a clear message that this law sucks.
T...for Time to leave!
and I fuck it with an uppercase. fuck.
I would totally be for all of the presidents policies if he were not black. But he is. So what am I supposed to do? I clearly cannot accept any policies that benefit me or this country if they come from a black man. /Dave Chappelle playing blind black racist.
It's not racist, but at the same time, it was more or less originally thought up by Republicans, and if a Republican president proposed it, they probably would go along with it.
And on the flip side, you would have Democrats screaming bloody murder about it. Because what they want is a system like Canada's, or pretty much every other 1st world country in the world.
Weak sauce. Please try again.
I think that might be true about a number of things the president does or has done especially when it comes to the police state or MIC, but I don't think that is true about Obamacare.
I think most Republicans still probably would have opposed it, but there probably would have been a significant minority that would have supported it for blindly partisan reasons if someone like Romney had gotten elected and proposed it.
You guys are hysterical. Of course Republicans would have been for it and Democrats against it if Romney had proposed it. Just like how they flipped views on the wars when Obama was elected. TEAM players have absolutely no principles.
So it's not racism; it's just herd mentality.
I love the implication that somewhere, in some secret back room, all these people talked to her and secretly confided that it's because he's black. And then I guess told her, their political opponent, "just don't tell anyone we said that".
Just like what the lawyer in the video here says happens with the cops.
She's also black...I have a very hard time believing that white politicians would say something like that to their black opponent.
This is what I have to deal with every day. If any of you think you've got it bad, move to Louisiana and deal with people like her on a daily basis like I have to do. You will be hatin' fo sho.
The unintended consequences are from racists that just won't comply.
If only health care reform had been proposed by a white Democrat, like Bill Clinton, then Republicans would have approved! Oh, wait....
I'm not racist. I hate all democrats equally. Heck that isnt even true, i am not even capable of the absurdly inhuman level of hatred they feel for everyone who disagrees with them.
I can't believe anyone that stupid holds a position of leadership. Oh wait, my bad, so is Obama.
