Julian Assange has claimed that British intelligence agents believe he has been framed by Swedish authorities seeking his extradition on rape allegations.

The founder of WikiLeaks, who has spent almost a year in the Ecuadorean embassy in London to avoid arrest and extradition to Sweden, claimed that he discovered "chatter" between employees at GCHQ in which they speculate over his "fit-up".

In an interview with Spanish television programme 'Salvados', broadcast on Sunday, Mr Assange said he had accessed unclassified instant messages between GCHQ employees discussing his case using a "subject access request".
