No Charges For Man Whose Son Posed For a Photo With a Perfectly Legal Gun

Public shaming of idiot authorities has benefits

No charges will be filed against a man who posted online a photo of his young son holding what appeared to be a military-style rifle, police said Wednesday.

In a moment of heightened sensitivity around guns and gun control, the brief saga had the makings of a debate starter between people who oppose guns and those who say authorities are overzealous about even legal weapons.

Police in Carneys Point, a town of 8,000 some 30 miles southwest of Philadelphia, gave their version Wednesday, days after the boy's father, Shawn Moore, brought attention to the issue, saying that state child welfare workers and police in SWAT gear showed up at his home because of the online photos.

  1. We aren’t quite to Thought Police yet, but we’ve reached Facebook Police

  2. How about that! No charges lodged on a man who did nothing wrong!
I guess Obozo is really making a difference!

  3. In a related story, the man was also not charged for stopping at a red light and driving under the speed limit.

  4. Good thing they sent a heavily armed swat team to protect a child from the proximity of a gun.

“The officials said that they respect citizens’ rights to own weapons and that several officers knew the elder Moore from a shooting club.”

Probably the only reason there wasn’t a no knock raid. I guess we have to consider this progress – no dogs were killed in the raid, no family terrorized.

    1. “no dogs were killed in the raid”
      I know why:
The Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight

    2. [“The officials said that they respect citizens’ rights to own weapons and that several officers knew the elder Moore from a shooting club.”]

Yet they acquiesced. The Dunphy’s of the world always turn into the Sonderkommando, because of the very reasons they want their job in the first place.

  5. A couple of points.
Most child welfare agencies are totally useless. My wife, who is a retired school principal, has had dealings with these A$$clowns on many occasions and she would come home ranting about how useless they were.

Second thing. Whomever sent the police should be fired for misuse of law enforcement resources.

Third thing. The cops should have refused to go.

    1. Fourth thing. This family now has the obligation to find and visit hell on the one who reported them.

Fifth thing. This family now has the obligation to find and visit hell on the shild welfare worker.

Only after a few knee cappings can we expect to see this behavior cease. You must visit the bureaucrat where he lives.

  6. Good to see that our overlords have learned so much since Ruby Ridge.
