Brickbat: What Is Your Major Malfunction, Numbnuts?

An eighth-grade teacher at Genoa-Kingston Middle School in Illinois ordered Michael McIntyre to turn his T-shirt inside out or face suspension. She said the Marine Corps T-shirt with interlocking rifles depicted on the front violated the school dress code. When a local TV station asked about the incident, Superintendent Joe Burgess said the T-shirt does not violate any dress code and if the teacher had taken the time to consult with the principal he would have told her that.

"Interlocking"? Surely you mean "crossed".
Interlocked and interloaded!
Maybe his next shirt should have a fire-plan sketch on it, with interlocking fields of fire.
...if the teacher had taken the time to consult with the principal he would have told her that.
That was probably a school bus she was thrown under there so I imagine she qualifies for worker compensation benefits now.
Genoa and Kingston are fairly sensible small towns a bit west of where I live - that a teacher there would do this says an awful lot about what the teacher's programs are churning out these days...none of it good.
she did it for the children
Hey LTC, have you left Switzerland then?
Nice.
I wonder, would the Superintendent have still come to the student's defense if the T-shirt said "Al Quida" but had the same image of two crossed rifles and was in every other respect identical?
I mean if it said "Al Quida" instead of Marines, not in addition to.
Probably not. Also, probably not if it said "Arbeit macht frei" or "Beirut Barracks Bombers."
Che Guevara, however, would be totally cool.
Yes, he would. The very same Che Guevara who wrote :
"The blacks, those magnificent examples of the African race who have conserved their racial purity by a lack of affinity with washing, have seen their patch invaded by a different kind of slave: The Portugese.... the black is indolent and fanciful, he spends his money on frivolity and drink; the European comes from a tradition of working and saving which follows him to this corner of America and drives him to get ahead."
Please understand the above quote is from Che Guevara, not me, and I strongly disagree with it.
Portuguese who work and save? I don't agree either.
Even encouraged, perhaps.
I've have a couple of otherwise seemingly sane, if left-leaning, friends use his photo as avatars on various sites or apps. It doesn't take much of a conversation before they change the avatar. I'm not sure if that's because they learned what he really was or they just don't want to defend identifying with him.
"What is your major malfunction, numbnuts?"
Awesome if that had been the kid's response to the teacher.
There is a dude that clearly knows whats going on. Wow.

I have now achieved total enlightenment. Thanks Anonbot!
Were you listening to the dude's story?
Let's not forget - let's *not* forget, Dude - that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city - that aint legal either.
Anonbot ties the comments together.
All of these stories about teachers going ape shit over images of guns is like saying that one can make the sun disappear by covering one's eyes.
The evil Sun can cause Global Warming!
Yes, and Global Warming can cause people like teachers to go ape shit.
Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, imo.
Never forget your towel.
When I was in grade school back in the eighties, I wore one of those tees with a skull wearing a green beret, crossed M-16s, and the slogan "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out", to school about once per week. Nobody seemed to give a damn.
You too?
Plus one that said "Better Dead Than Red".
I'm torn. Why do schools pass stupid shit like this...But if guns are not allowed, then why the fuck should the Marines get a pass.
I guess violent imagery is bad unless it's of the nationalist variety.
"When a local TV station asked about the incident, Superintendent Joe Burgess said the T-shirt does not violate any dress code and if the teacher had taken the time to consult with the principal he would have told her that."
Yeah, the teacher was totally doing a rogue operation, ignoring the district's policy. Right.
I'll assume the school district has also forbidden military recruiters from the high school campuses... Right? Seems like a logical step to me.
