J.D. Tuccille Talks Drones, John Brennan and Rand Paul on RT

Drone Wars would have been an awesome title for a straight-to-video '80s science fiction movie starring Tim Thomerson, but war waged with drones was the starting point for my appearance on RT with the always excellent Liz Wahl (Yes, that was a reach. But how else am I going to work in a Trancers reference?). We talked about Sen. Rand Paul holding up the nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA, the possibility that the Obama administration might think its legal rationale (or lack thereof) for using drones could apply domestically, and whether the most transparent administration ever might be just around the corner.
What do you say folks? Is death by drone the most efficient delivery of battlefield justice to-date? Is it an exercise in executive-fueled due process? Or could it be, perhaps, something else?
Hint: I'm thinking something else.

So training funds for Infantry Battalions will be slashed while they fund this horseshit?
It's like 9/11 never even happened in your world.
In their world, it's like it never happened, then they never sent light infantry units to across the world to hunt terrorists in cities, villages, and mountains.
"MurderDrone."
When you want your hands to stay kissably clean.
I know I have my differences with people on here on the drone issue. But my God, could Obama have chosen a more creepily appropriate looking guy to run this program than Brennen? He looks like an undertaker.
I think Lautenberg might do better. He really has that 'post-human' look nailed.
Is death by drone the most efficient delivery of battlefield justice to-date?
Hell yes.
I agree - though it's obvious prone to abuse.
The difficulty, of course, is that they aren't being used on battlefields. In fact, they are used precisely where there isn't a battlefield, for the most part.
This whole endeavor just doesn't fit any working paradigm that we have. And rather than come up with a paradigm that actually does make sense, this fact is being used to give the executive carte blanche to kill anyone anywhere anytime, just on the President's say-so.
