Study: MI Charter School Students Make Greater Gains Than District Students

Choice seems to have advantages

The average charter school student in Michigan is showing more growth than his or her peers in the district in which they reside, according to the results of charter school academic performance released this morning.

The study comes from the Center for Research on Education Outcomes at Stanford University, which in 2009 published some of the most comprehensive research to date on charter schools and their academic performance. Michigan was not included in that earlier report.
