Cop Fired For Being a Wanted Thief

LIBERAL—Robert A. Buchanan is no longer an officer in the Liberal Police Department, after the Dec. 18 discovery of an outstanding arrest warrant for Buchanan.

The employment termination date was Dec. 24, according to Sheena Schmutz, human resources director for the city of Liberal.

Buchanan was accused in late 2009 of not returning a Dell laptop computer to his employer, the oil-services company Schlumberger. The company is in Elk City, below the panhandle in western Oklahoma.
