CO Officials Consider Residency Requirement for Marijuana Use

Idiots don't want to make money from marijuana tourists

Denver - When Colorado voters passed Amendment 64 it was left to the state to determine how to regulate the sale of marijuana.

A task force has been established to develop recommendations for the governor and Legislature. 

That task force is looking at a variety of regulations including a residency requirement for the growing, selling and use of marijuana.

"We don't want to be known as the marijuana tourism state," Representative Mark Waller said.   "I don't think anybody in the state had the vision that marijuana tourism was going to be the byproduct of the passage of Amendment 64, so I think it is right and just and proper to try to limit this to the residents of the state of Colorado."

Of course they do!
Simply letting people buy what they wish is anathema to bureaucrats! Just because it's legal doesn't mean it can be bought and sold without the government being involved. How else can the government prove its value?

Don't you hate it when people come to your state and spend money as tourists? Nobody would ever want that, and they should probably create a board of No-Tourism to ensure that the borders of the gulag remain secure.

Seems like a residency requirement would set up an interesting dormant commerce clause challenge.
