PD Sued After Teens Left in Van Overnight
Law-enforcement professionalism at its best
One of the five teenagers locked inside a police van for about 15 hours without food or water in March 2011 is suing the borough, the Police Department and more than a dozen officers.
Adam Kim filed a civil suit in federal court in Newark contending that Fort Lee officers falsely arrested and unlawfully detained him and violated his civil rights.
Kim also alleges that borough officials and senior members of the police force failed to implement appropriate policies or practices and were negligent in the hiring and supervision of the officers involved.
