Amazing progress this past week. She (Reason) went from not digesting to digesting and is now eating almost as much as a normal baby her age would. They expect her to be up to normal amounts at a normal schedule in a few more days. Her stomach is expanding to accommodate the food and they've decided to remove her PICC line (IV) early and just go with milk. The skin is starting to grow up the sides of the omphalocele as they would have hoped and she's reacting to stimuli like any normal, healthy baby would.

They told us we have to take a CPR class and a discharge class before they can send her home and they told us to take it today because they aren't offering one next week. They told Kara yesterday that they want her home within the next week, assuming she keeps feeding well.

IOW, it's like the doctor told me before I went out of town: this is the best omphalocele case I've ever seen and your baby's recovery is amazing.

Can you believe it? There's an outside chance we'll have her home on Christmas. Either way, I'll post a pic or two on here so you all can see her. I'll even try to get one with the ophalocele so you all understand what we're dealing with.
