Cop Gets 10 Years For Stealing Drug Evidence
Whoops!
A judge has sentenced a former Hawkins County sheriff's deputy to 10 years in prison on 75 theft-related charges.
The counts stem from drugs being taken from the sheriff's evidence locker. Former Deputy Brad Depew pleaded guilty to the offenses in July.
The Johnson City Press reports special Judge Thomas Wright denied motions on Friday asking for diversion or alternative sentencing for Depew, saying that it would not promote respect for the law.
