Calif. Mayor Beaten in Apparent Random Attack
Assaulted while walking home from holiday party but not robbed
Authorities are searching for two men who attacked the mayor of San Juan Capistrano as he and his wife walked home from a holiday party.
Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino that the assailants did not demand anything or take any property from Mayor John Taylor as they punched and kicked him. He said the attack appeared to be random.
Amormino said Taylor and his wife heard two men walk behind them late Saturday. They moved aside to let the men pass them when the men knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the head.
