Special Prosecutor Appointed in Fatal Police Shooting of 83-Year-Old Woman
The elderly woman wasn't wearing her hearing aid and her family says she was not a threat
Roanoke Commonwealth's Attorney Don Caldwell will serve as a special prosecutor in the investigation of the fatal shooting of an 83-year-old woman by an Altavista police officer.
The Virginia State Police is conducting the investigation. Caldwell tells media outlets that he expects to make a determination in about 90 days.
