Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran is six, seven months from being able to build a nuclear bomb and wants a red line from the United States.
They've been six or seven months away for a while now.
Maybe Netanyahu should hold his breath until the US does something.
Depends on if you read the CIA NSE from one year to the next - one time it is "they couldn't make a light bulb, much less a nuke", then next it is "Say, did anyone see my fallout gear?"
Iran is like a man engaged to be married but one that hasn't picked a venue yet.
Or a fiance.
Only thing the US needs to do is get our of Israel's way.
Ron Paul was one of the few congressional supporters when Israel bombed Iraq's nuclear program out of existence in the early 80s. Reagan even turned pussy.
Lets let Israel handle their problem again.
the IAF has no ability to deliver the deep penetrators needed and no airborne refueling capability
Wikipedia is telling me that the IAF has KC-707 aerial refuelers.
That sounds alright to me as far as it goes.
The thing is, I'm not sure how the US is in Israel's way in the first place? What does Israel think the US will do in response if they bomb Iran's nuclear sites?
Or are they worried about what the US might not do? Do they want assurances that the US will use its veto power to prevent UN sanctions against Israel in the aftermath of such a bombing? Are they worried the aid might stop flowing?
Everything I've read the Israel can start a war with Iran, but needs us to finish it. Netanyahu's demand for public redlines is really all about trying to create a situation where we can't back down from a war with Iran so that we'll do the dirty work for them.
If that is true, then it is not that the US is in Israel's way (as robc suggested).
It is that Israel might want/need US help and they aren't sure they will get it.
My comment wasn't intended to indicate agreement with robc. I was agreeing with you and expanding on your remarks.
Right, I know.
I'm just summarizing the counterpoint for robc if he or she wants to reply.

Is there anything from the 80s that someone isn't going to remake? What's next, Red Dawn?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvs.....ronto.html
I saw that there is a television remake of Beauty ? the Beast coming. Suddenly it was 1992 and I was living at home again.
I liked that show. Except all the whispering.
Meh... Phil Hartman played the best beast ever on SNL.
I was excited when Aronofsky was attached to direct.
I just hope they don't make it too gritty. The original had that wonderful black humor.
The black humor of the original is exactly why Aronofsky is the wrong person to direct this thing. His stuff is a lot more cerebral and introspective, not the over-the-top satire which made the original so awesome.
I was actually watching his last night and the story is still amazing, despite how much the tech protrayals and late-80s environments have aged it.
I thought they were already doing that.
...
Yep, they are.
I did not know that. Is there anything left to remake? Top Gun maybe?
They're doing that too.
Danger Zone!
Does a Sequel Count?
Top Gun. Except in the new one Duke Mitchell flew in the first Gulf War and now his son is a hotshot drone pilot.

Amid riots and firebombings of Japanese businesses in China, Chinese Foreign Ministry says:
"The gravely destructive consequences of Japan's illegal purchase of the Diaoyu Islands are steadily emerging, and the responsibility for this should be borne by Japan."
At least when the Chinese deflect blame over street violence to people bearing no responsibility for it, they have the good sense to point it at citizens of other countries
There are any number of explanations for why this is happening (and being allowed to happen) in China, but one thing is clear: the Chinese government is not doing much to stop it.
If they were not rioting and firebombing Japanese, they would be rioting and firebombing Chinese government officials.
As I said, there are any number of explanations, and several may apply.
I was surprised during my trips to China and Japan in the last year how openly nationals of both countries speak of their loathing for each other. It gets to be rather stressful.
Everyone in Asia hates the Chinese. Chinese minorities in places like Malaysia are loathed.
Only white people can be racist, therefore you must be lying.
This is what is taught in our schools so it must be true.
THIS IS WHAT PUBLIK SKOOL STUDENTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE.
they also believe mentos and coke gets one drunk
"taught"? Oh, you must not be refering to Chicago...
Any adult who has a surviving grandparent in China basically grew up on stories of Japanese atrocities in the 1930s and early 40s that made Mao look like a reasonable guy.
If they were not rioting and firebombing Japanese Americans, they would be rioting and firebombing Chinese their own government officials.
That excuse works in the ME too.
good to see the Occutards have picked up exactly where they left off.
I forgot how much I hated these people.
The Chinese protested a movie uninhabited but possibly resource rich islands both countries claim.
Just wait until Ben moves it again.
Spoiler alert!
You can't "spoil" a show where the plot was "Make It Up As We Go Along"
It's already roont.
I dare you to find a better first 3 (maybe 2, I'm probably forgetting some lower points of 3) seasons of television. And considering this took place on network television, that's quite a feat.
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Dexter (you did say first three seasons)
I am sure I could come up with five more if pressed.
Yeah, you're probably right (except Dexter). It probably depends on which show I've seen most recently. I wouldn't have agreed on Mad Men after the first time I watched it but I liked it a lot more when I watched it a 2nd time through with someone else.
Dexter's first two seasons are some of my favorite television ever.
3 was a bit of a slip. 4 was great.
5 6 go in the same black hole as Baby Geniuses 2 and the Prequels to Star Wars.
Which was worse: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace or Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2? Discuss amongst yourselves.
What is this Episode I you speak of? Everyone knows George Lucas makes 3 films and quits. Just like Indiana Jones.
Wait, these were different movies?
That depends on the terms by which you judge success.
I don't think the people who made Baby Geniuses 2 were trying. George Lucas was.
By that standard, Lucas is the biggest failure.
What I liked about Baby Geniuses 2 was how the kid superhero was played by two boys who didn't quite look alike.
And yes, I'm very familiar with the movie. My youngest watched it over and over again. And over.
This just gave me an idea for teenage birth control. Show them movies like this, with the message: as a parent, you will have to watch these movies repeatedly.
dare you to find a better first 3 (maybe 2, I'm probably forgetting some lower points of 3) seasons of television.
Ahem...Star Trek.
I'm just getting around to playing Batman: Arkham City, and I'm surprised by the number of veiled references to LOST in it.
Great game though. Sandbox Batman is the one game I've been pining for since I was 5.
I just finished that recently. I really enjoyed it. My wife is glad it is over though. She got tired of me giving her a dead-pan look and saying "I'm Batman."
The Chicago Teachers Union voted against ending the strike over the weekend and will vote again Tuesday...
...to decide whether to extend to the people of Chicago the bird using one hand or both.
Only one hand - the other has to be empty to reach into their pockets or rifle through their purses.
If the leader of the Chicago teachers union is involved then probably using one hand to stuff food in her mouth. If I was from Chicago I would be investigating whether any tasty children have turned up missing when she is around.
Where's your fucking neck?"
I keep waiting for the president to get dragged into it, so the "Bring me Zero and the wookie" references can be unleashed.
much as I hate the unions, fuck Chicago as a whole. It continues enabling the machine to do what it does.
This gives the students the chance to do what the teachers Unions wanted all along: join up with OWS protests
/conspiracy theorist babble
U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice said the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi began with a spontaneous protest set off by an anti-Islamic film...
For some reason the Administration is desperate for it to be about a youtube clip.
and similar spontaneous protests followed in 11 more places. How does someone get away with something so nuclear level stupid?
Wouldn't stupidity over a movie be a better explanation for an outbreak of protests vice a transcontinental plan?
I'm sure many of the actual rioters are genuinely freaking out over the video, but I don't believe for a moment that it happened when and how it did simply because of a spontaneous response to the video. And a transcontinental conspiracy is not necessary. The spread of protests could be organic, but that's not how it got going in the first place.
If the germination was reliant on a few violent rabble-rousers over a pretext, then it is both accurate and not accurate (in a sense) to point to the video as the 'cause', I suppose.
Still, your answer below is the correct one: we have free speech, so GTF over it already.
but even with the movie, the first US response was to blame the filmmaker. Dueling stupidity. If someone made up an administration like this for a movie or tv show, no one would believe it.
Classic CYA from the administration--"We weren't prepared to deal with someone carrying out a military operation against our Libyan consulate and we're still droning Yemen, so all of the protests are over this video!!!"
This isn't stupidity. They got caught flat-footed by the protests and found a convenient scapegoat.
I saw one of those meme pics with the filmmaker being carted off that said, "If he had pissed on a cross, he'd still be in bed" That about sums up the administrations response to this.
It is pretty disgusting. Even if the protests were plausibly caused by the video (which I don't buy at all), the first and only thing that the government assholes should be saying is that it is protected speech and whether or not it is offensive is not an issue for the federal government or foreign service to deal with.
"We were improving our relations with the mob until one day someone made a movie and posted it on YouTube. We have evidence that the rioters had initially planned to spend 9/11 by holding a "God Bless America and President Obama" solidarity rally, but when they learned about the Muhammed movie, they cancelled their plans and decided to hold a riot instead."
+9/11
How did you get your hands on Susan Rice's notes?!
fixed
Using this definition of spontaneous you could say the administration spontaneously decided to blame the attacks on a youtube clip.
They are looking for a reason to nationalize Google?
so far, the G-folks have told govt to get bent.
You can tell the govt to get bent for so long, then the govt bends you over and...
They are looking for a reason to nationalize Google?
Another import from China then?
Because if it's not about a youtube clip, then it must be about their policy, which every good citizen knows that Hopey McDreamey can't have caused an international breakout of protests against US embassies with his policy or anything.
The most heated demonstrations Saturday occurred not in the Middle East, ironically, but in a staunch United States' ally, Australia.
"Ironically"?
I'm still more outraged at the common-man use of the word "irony"
Blame Canada.
Literally.
I blame Bush

Ironic, since it's apparently correctly conveying to you what the user intends.

You can't live a traditional life and oppress the hell out of women and such and be competitive in the modern world. They desperately want to hold on to their culture but also don't want to be backward and irrelevant.
It is a weird dichotomy. On the one hand they all want satellite dishes and internet access and everything else. But on the other hand they loath themselves and us for wanting it.
They are afraid that material wealth will bring them Snookie and the Kardashians.
Its a reasonable fear.

You are willfully ignorant about so many subjects Randian. But you make up for it by being smug and humorless.
What ever happened to MNG anyway? He couldn't figure out how to register?
John only has one e-mail address and could only register one name.
He was here post-registration. I think the sand in his vagina finally matured into pearls and he retired on the money.
I think the sand in his vagina finally matured into pearls and he retired on the money.
That is both horrifying and hilarious at the same time.
My favorite experience with him was when he accused me of being a republican shill.
Good times.
My favorite was when he was huffing about rich people who, if not taxed, will just have yachts. Uh, good for them?
Also, good for people who build yachts.
It is a weird dichotomy. On the one hand they all want satellite dishes and internet access and everything else. But on the other hand they loath[e] themselves and us for wanting it the fact that those things will show them things they don't want to see.
And they're supremely pissed that we refuse to censor the airwaves to meet their cultural preferences.
In the privacy of their own language, in daily chatter on the street, on blogs and in the media, and in works of art and fiction, they probe endlessly what befell them.

Biden stops for a sandwich and a diet Pepsi
Well if that's all it took to stop him, I wish we offered him a sandwich and a diet Pepsi sooner! I wonder if the same incentive would work on Obama... The sandwich would need Grey Poupon, of course.
All he wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi.
At least link to the source, dude.

Yes, he was blackmailing them using the country as the leverage.

And especially not to Congress.
Unless it's the UN.

The lovely and talented Neko Case horrifies hipster fans by admitting to liking Rush Limbaugh.
Case is the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants. It makes sense she might not be the typical mindless leftist usually found in the entertainment industry.
having lived under or knowing people who lived under the logical extreme is leftism will do that to people.
"I just lost some followers cause they thought I meant Rush LIMBAUGH, not Rush, Canadian super-prog. I think that makes me old?"
She meant the band, apparently.
Only women beaten daily by fundies will admit to liking PigBoy.
of course; liberal women are much more likely to swoon over the likes of the Kennedys, Edwards, Clinton, Weiner, et al, men who actually abuse women. Does being stupid ever become painful?
Does being stupid ever become painful?
No. If it did we'd have less of it.
Did you read the whole thing?
She meant Rush the band, not Rush the political commenter.
Eh Gods, now that is embarrassing.
you're in some company. The followers who left her drew the same conclusion that you did.
Eh Gods, now that is embarrassing.
Can't imagine why you'd think anyone would expect more from you, and a quick poll of the rabble would probably confirm it.

Prog rock Rush, not radio host Rush.
I do not recognize Rush as "prog" - just "rock".
Any 70s album with a spaceship, celestial body, or melting ice cube on the cover is prog rock.
It took three years, but you have finally written a comment that I agree with.
Boston is prog rock?
I think so.
I quit listening to FM back then due to Boston, rush, and Journey.
Never heard Boston or Journey called Prog before.
Maybe I just don't know the definition.

If they were just "rock", they would be in the hall of fame. The fact that they are also "prog" is what keeps them out.
No, the fact that the folks who run the HoF hate individualism and anything remotely related to Ayn Rand is what keeps them out.
Also, the HoF hates Prog Rock.
Yes, ELP, Jethro Tull -- all not in HoF.
Pink Floyd and Genesis are in, but I guarantee you Genesis isnt in for the Peter Gabriel era.
Gabriel ought to be inducted on his own merits. He deserves it more than Genesis, and I'm a Genesis fan.
Jeff Lynn deserves it as well.

This rebuilds Americans' depleted wealth.
Yeah! We're rich on paper again! This is so unbelievably stupid it boggles the mind.
The Fed is on the brink of moving beyond what it understands and can control.
Perhaps an independent audit of the Fed might help?
Like Deloitte performs every year? Ron Paul's legacy will be misrepresenting what an "audit" is.
"That Deloitte 'audit'? You didn't perform that."
That "audit" is a joke, and you know it. It's so incomplete, it's laughable.
Any private sector actor tried to rely on the "audit" the Fed supposedly undergoes would be torn apart by shareholders and the SEC. Try again.
If only we were happier and more optimistic so we would spend and borrow more and pump up the economy!

what the fuck is this "likability gap" nonsense? Are people afraid to say they think POTUS is a dick for fear of being called racist? Good grief. Did the ones who disliked Bush do so out of hatred for TX?
Romney should run on a populist Blame Bush strategy.
His past strategies all failed.
if he ran on an "I will do the opposite of what Obama is doing" policy, that would be enough. But that's okay; empire's gotta crash at some point. With The Obama, the band-aid gets ripped off faster.

Simpson-Bowles deficit reduction now.
You know, the plan that Paul Ryan voted against while on the same panel.
It died in committee.
and Obama completely ignoring the plan had nothing to do with its failure. Let's instead blame what was then a House minority. You may want to ask the DNC to update its talking points so folks like you aren't made to look this bad.
I find it amsuing that this one is still hating on Palin years after she stopped being a threat. Heard any good Dan Quayle jokes lately?
"I find it amusing that this one is still hating on Palin years after she stopped being a threat. Heard any good Dan Quayle jokes lately?"
^This
I'm not hating on Palin.
My moniker means the opposite of Occam's Razor.
WTF?
Its the way he gets to points - the opposite of simple logic.
Its failure was bipartisan.
Coburn and the Senate (R)s supported it.
And House (D)s helped thwart it.
All in Committee.
It will pass in 2013 and Obama will sign it.
if Obama had any intention of signing it, he would:
a) have pushed Congress into passing it
b) stopped presenting budget proposals that not even Dems support
c) not have run up 5+T in debt and counting.
Your explanation also contradicts the blame Ryan narrative.
By promoting it Republicans would have reflexively opposed it.
Ergo, the GOP was never serious about deficit reduction.
I commend Tom Coburn for supporting it.
I commend Tom Coburn for supporting it.
that makes one Repub Senator who recognizes a problem vs. zero Dems. In the House, Ryan put forth a plan which is apparently so lousy that no Dem can offer up a counter-proposal. Repubs can't cloak themselves in glory over the debt, but Dems continue to pretend it's not there.
Yes, if Obama will sign it, why not present those recommendations as his budget?
It will pass in 2013 and Obama will sign it.
No, it won't. Never gonna happen.
It will pass in 2013 and Obama will sign it.
Not a chance in hell. Especially since there will be another recession in '13, hell it may have already started.
The recession never ended.

much-needed foundation and justification for fundamental policy reforms." Paul Ryan statement on the Simpson-Bowles plan.

A bubble I can support!
The train is already over the cliff. We just haven't started falling yet, because no one has looked down.
What does this spending and debt mean in the long run if it is not controlled? One result will be ever-higher income and payroll taxes on all taxpayers that will reach over 80% at the top and 70% for many middle-income working couples.
This kind of specific stuff needs to be documented and shouted from the rooftops. People don't get "a financial crisis is coming".
subconsciously, they get it. On the surface, however, they want their free pony. And they believe the astronomical tax rates will never apply to them. Besides, Romney would kill the middle class; haven't you heard? It's in all the DNC talking point memos.
When Barack "Executive Order" Obama is reelected, they will get it consciously.
a growing part of me has made peace with this possibility. Sometimes, reality has to smack you upside the head. Early congrats to the morons who made re-election possible.

*Except when the Feds do it to catch a would-be bomber that had no inclination to bomb before the Feds gave him a bomb and told him what to do. Then it's called good police work apparently.
If you were smarter you'd understand the logic.
Enlighten us, Tim.
None of us is smart enough, that's why they are our masters.
I need to get the batteries changed in this sarcasmometer. They're obviously not working right anymore.

Just waiting for the day the operation goes horribly wrong and innocent people are killed because the Feds fucked around with an actual terrorist.
" Yeah that bomb you gave me was all screwed up but I managed to fix it before emplacing it. SHould be going off right now."
It's a good thing terrorists don't have humor.
This is pretty much what happened with the Iranian nuclear program, IIRC. A set of deliberately wrong blueprints and engineering diagrams was allowed to fall into Iranian hands by a pet nuclear physicist. The nuclear physicist got frightened of the deception and ended up changing the plans so that they could make a viable device from them.
See Operation Merlin.
Fucking spam filter.
Go google Operation Merlin, Tim. That's basically what happened with the Clinton Administration and the Iranian nuclear program.
I've stated before that I think the Feds were somewhat aware of McVeigh and his cell, and were letting them run in the hope that they could bag associates of Ramzi Yousef or a larger domestic white supremacist cell. I obviously don't think that they told McVeigh to go set off his bomb, nor were they aware how far along he and Nichols were. Somebody gave them those gelignite tubes for the primary charge though...
Unrelated, since we're discussing CTs, just what was so important and vital that Sandy Berger felt it was worth potentially going to jail over to destroy?
Some say that is what happened in Oklahoma City. Not sure about that. But I guarantee you if it ever does happen, the Feds will cover it up.

The Obama administration isn't helping anything by continuously apologizing for free speech. They try to sympathize with people inciting riots over the idiotic movie and lend legitimacy to them.
If we would just pull out of Afghanistan and hang this guy, they would stop hating us.
my word, again embassy apologies for the video. Mitt's response looks better by the day. Even Hillary last week called bullshit on the video as excuse.
Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the leader of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is accused of orchestrating the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks [, said] that the production crew of the video 'must be hanged to set an example.'

Pack your own chute. Build your own bombs.
They probably teach you that in Ranger School.
Former cop convicted in 55-year-old murder, longest cold case in history...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new.....-1957.html
A former police officer was today finally found guilty of the abduction and murder of a seven-year-old girl 55 years ago.
The conviction of Jack McCullough, 72, represents the longest cold case in history after a DNA breakthrough placed him at the scene of the abduction of Maria Ridulph in 1957.
Maria's mother died without seeing justice for her daughter's slaying - a case that caused so much of a national outcry that President Eisenhower and FBI director J Edgar Hoover demanded daily updates.
I wonder if that is the only kid he ever killed. That doesn't seem like something someone would just do once.
He was linked to four other rapes of young women, one when he was a cop and it must have been pretty horrific if he got fired over it.
If he started on his half-sisters and escalated to murder by 18, he's probably got dozens of rapes on him, and probably more murders.
People suck.
Well, at least he picked a job suited for a psychopath.
I think it was brought up in one of the Zodiac movies from a few years ago, that a likely occupation for the killer was police officer. That, or he had police training. (The movie went into how he held his flashlight and pistol, and that it was indicative of that kind of training.) Seems somewhat plausible. It is surprising that they haven't been able to match his DNA yet, though.
My own suspicion is that the guy was a military employee, at something like Mare Island, or the like, and ended up dying shortly thereafter. Perhaps in SE Asia. Or something ignominious like getting shanked in jail.
I heard on the radio this morning that 4 more were killed by insurgents in US uniforms. They didn't say that 6 USMC Harriers were destroyed.

The interest costs alone will reach $743 billion a year, more than we are currently spending on Social Security, Medicare or national defense, even under the benign assumption of no inflationary increase or adverse bond-market reaction.
This cannot be stated often enough.
But, we owe it to *ourselves*!

But deficits don't matter....
As Ross Perot said, "when you're in a hole, stop digging."
I expected sarcasmic to have Lily Dionne links this morning.
I would totally have hit that. It's too bad she'll probably be beheaded by this time next week.
She is a redhead. I can't see her going down without a fight. And yeah, she is gorgeous.
Maybe a chain of safehouses is in order.
I'll volunteer first.
I have no idea who that is.
She was in Innocence of Muslims.

Doesn't look very innocent to me.
I love redheads, but her eyes do a complete 'meh' on her face.
Bloomberg is reporting this morning that GM is offering to buy back shares from the Treasury. Apparently, Timmay! is reluctant to turn those paper losses into real losses six weeks before the election.
But I was told the gubmint made money on the GM bailout. I think you are mistaken.
Probably getting a loan from the Fed's discount window to pay for the buyback
From NoVAHockey's link:
The assailants' true motives are impossible to verify, but the attack underscores the Afghan insurgency's boldness and striking power in the waning years of the U.S.-led NATO intervention.
The assault began "shortly after 10:00 p.m." when "approximately 15? insurgents ? organized in three teams and wearing American uniforms ? "penetrated at one point of the perimeter fence" and "executed a well-coordinated attack against the airfield," according to ISAF. The Harrier jump jets destroyed or damaged in the assault had been parked out in the open on the flightline, the alliance stated.
We are successfully training Afghan fighters; just not the ons we wanted to.
Does the white house even bother to try and justify why we are in afghanistan anymore? Or, is this just perpetual war between oceania and eurasia?
Also
The Harriers reportedly belonged to Marine Attack Squadron 211, based in Yuma, Arizona. VMA-211 had shifted its Harrier jump jets to Bastion from nearby Kandahar in July, in order to better support the British troops and Marines operating from Bastion. Harrier squadrons typically deploy with 10 jets, meaning all but two of VMA-211?s planes are now out of action. Despite this, ISAF unconvincingly insisted there would be "no impact to ground or air operations from Camp Bastion."
Startlingly, the six destroyed Harriers represent no less than 1/15th of the Marines' entire inventory of the versatile, vertical-landing jets. The F-35B version of the stealthy Joint Strike Fighter is slated to replace the Harrier over the next 15 years.
It's good to know the DoD is replacing more proven, reliable planes (A 10 cough, cough) with the F35. The Harrier may be complicated, but it's like a 1949 Ford pickup compared to the fucking F 35.
Had a couple of A10s go over my house saturday morning fairly low on the outbound leg of the flyover at the Doak (FSU game). They may be ugly to jet pilots, but I love 'em.
The Air Force has been looking for an excuse to get rid of the A-10 for decades, precisely because it's functional and cheap, not a gold-plated piece of shit like the F-35.
I guarantee you that when the last one is retired, the USAF will issue a stream of propoganda telling everyone how wonderful it was, and leave out the fact that the brass in the Pentagon had undermined and maginalized it during its entire existence.
If you're a groundpounder like I used to be, the A-10 is the best thing the Air Force ever flew. That's the Stark Fist of Removal given corporeal form. Nothing like watching a target get lit up with the 30mm and then hearing that noise like God's own chainsaw.
Yup, never felt safer than having a pair of them orbiting the area....sigh.
Too bad that Key West won't let the A-10s be fobbed off onto the Army. Pretty sure a Warrant can learn how to fly a fixed-wing.
Is the F-35 even in production yet? It's going to come out in 2035, at this rate.
The AF likes to use the A-10 as a bargaining chip when competing with the Army for funding. In the past the Army tried to take over the A-10 and the AF had a tizzy.
They do the same thing with C17s; just like the Navy and fast transport.
Pick 'em bitching: I shoulda known better than to trust Washington and Dallas to continue to perform. Its a setup by the Jones/Snyder axis of evil to keep their fans just in it enough to be suicidal without actually killing themselves and I bit on the gimmick while picking last week. Fuck. Also, looks like the Aints are back.
As much as the lose pained me (and also physically burned me) I found it funny that the only 2 games where everyone picked the same everyone was wrong.
loss* (and referring to the NE game)
What galls me is that Gronk didn't need to hold that guy.
One straight shove, or dive for the legs, and it's a touchdown.
The guy is backpedaling and has lost his balance. There's no way he makes that tackle.
Yeah, that was unnecessary and annoying. I was more irritated by the Pats just accepting the 40 yard FG try when they still had 40+ seconds on the clock.
I can't complain about that one. Sometimes the better team gets outplayed. Good on the Cards. Also, fuck Joe Flacco.
Yes, the Pick-Em has been entertaining this week. Shall we look at the standings?
Oh, and I left a post on the pick-em proposing a scoring system akin to the old F1 top six that would do us well in determining a champion for the year.
1st - 10
2nd - 6
3rd - 4
4th - 3
5th - 2
6th - 1
Ties are split up appropriately, meaning every person that tied for second doesn't get 6 pts. Anyway, I think this is the best way to determine the champ of the year, because it rewards weekly winners more than the guy that picks chalk every week and accumulates a better W/L percentage without actually picking a damn thing.
How do you guys feel about it? Is it fair?
I'm for it. Keeps the most consistent people at the top even if someone picks out of their mind 2 or 3 weeks.
I like the idea in general, though I think this particular layout structure may be too steep with the points dropoff.
It's different that how other leagues do it. And it's not grossly unfair, so yeah, why not?
Not that I'll be competing for the title. Shit, what a terrible year I'm having picking games so far.
It didn't help that Vick's intentional grounding on the "fumble" wasn't called.
