Providence Seeks To Convert All Schools to Charters

The move wouldn't give parents a lot of choice, but it would improve flexibility for the schools

The Providence schools superintendent and president of the teachers' union are promoting district-operated charter schools that would give principals greater say over education without sacrificing union protection for teachers.

The Providence Journal reports that every school is being asked to become a district-operated charter school.
